William Blake Everett, aka Bill Everett, was a comic book writer-artist best known for creating Namor the Sub-Mariner as well as co-creating Zombie and Daredevil with writer Stan Lee for Marvel Comics. He was a descendant of the poet William Blake and of Richard Everett, founder of Dedham, Massachusetts.
... And the Secret Tunnel! Namor is asked by some Reds to help them build an underwater tunnel from Siberia across the Bering Straight into Alaska. Namor agrees, knowing something is fishy. He gets to Siberia and is found by an American Engineer who was forced into working on the tunnels plans. Together they team up and sabotage the tunnel by making it curve straight back to Siberia. The Russians involved in this mistake are all sent to the salt mine.
... Meets a New Enemy... Fire! Young Namor, Namora and Byrrah are tasked with exploring an abandoned American station in the Arctic. Namora accidentally drops a can of kerosene which explode in a wooden shack, trapping her. Byrrah dips as usual, but Namor marches in to save his cousin. He finds he can't be burned, but still doesn't like the heat. In the end he saves Namora and they're hit by a flying can, a piece of debris that happened to be filled with cooked food, the best food Namor and Namora ever had. I'd be jealous if I were Byrrah. Oh yeah! For some reason Byrrah wasn't coloured like a Sub-Mariner, but human, like Namor and Namora.
The Man Who Loved the Sea Doesn't have a cool animal story or supes soooo, skip!
... And the Icebergs! A squadron of American ships has appeared above our undersea kingdom. Namor jumps immediately to the conclusion that they're here to kill the kingdom, but the Emperor says we should just chill out for a bit. This pisses Namor off, so he and a war party collect icebergs and surround the squadron. Namora is captured during her mission, so Namor goes to chat for the prisoner back. The Americans admit to Namor that they're only here to drill for Uranium (which would probably also destroy the kingdom) and Namor thinks that's just dandy, actually. Until the Americans give word that all of the displaced icebergs are causing an ice shelf to collapse. It does, but we're able to evacuate the city. So either way we woulda got blown up probably. And now we have an entire homeless population. I wonder if this will actually have any ramifications at all or if it'll be solved next issue.
