Dated. Best nugget I took away? “Don’t apologize for being a mother/having children.”

Stan got me this book so I could make us millions. I'm only on page 40 so far, but am enjoying the book surprisingly enough.

Okay, I finished this book today- I just kept picking it up and reading how she accomplished her amazing feat of creating and funding her company green daisy. She writes well and gives specifics. Where to find required forms, how to become a company, to decide what type of a company or corporation you want to become etc. I couldn't get enough. Me, who has no business asperations and rarely finishes the nonfiction books I start, was reading every (breastfeeding)chance I got. I'm in awe of her courage to do what had to be done.

Obviously this book is a good read with lots of bullets and specific sections to help the reader along. If you want to start a business read this first. For me it taught me that I don't have the drive to do what she did. Maybe if circumstances forced the issue as they did for Kim, but I wouldn't start a business on a whim. Most fail and almost all lose money in the first 3 years. You have to be a serious risk taker to succeed.

I like how she is a mommy millionaire, she has 10 great rules for mommy millionaire rules here's some I really liked:
1. dont apologize for having kids!
2. Remember that when you are conducting business over the plone with other mommy entrepreneurs, it is proper and allowaboe to put-yell your kids, while I out-yell mine!
5. When your child care nexpectedly falls through at the last minute, take your toddlers to your attorney's office fot that important meeting without guilt or apology. (you're paying your attorney $200 an hour. they should change diapers too, for that!)
10. Remember we're all equal in the eyes of God and our kid's teachers.

this book is just about simple ideas that probably you have already got in your mind, nothing more! I should say it's more about 'encouragement' to make you on fire on doing your home-based business but I see many of her 'ideas' and opinion are based on the author's life situation rather than trying to see from others' situation/point of view. In fact, if you're thinking of a home-based business, I think you should not spend as much as she advised or do as much as she does to start a home-based business. In my opinion, starting a home-based business should be from scratches and should not be overwhelmed by making your home into a real office thing. In short way I say; if you want to get to know about this book; borrow it from a friend or library rather than buying it and then you decide if my opinion is wrong or you agree with me.

My biggest problem with this book is the author's admittance early on that one must have money to make money. Her "kitchen table idea" had thousands of dollars backing it, in addition to the motivation and skills necessary to hunt down all the particulars. That said, there are a lot of pieces of valuable information inside, including some detailed steps to take throughout the process of creating and marketing something. It does provide a candid description of her experiences, both positive and negative. Interestingly, she also embraced a bankruptcy for a "clean slate." Congratulations on your cleverness, madam.

I read this book because I was looking for an "alternative career". Kim tells you how she came up with a product and the trials and tribulations of getting that product manufactured and sold. It's a great resource for what legal issues you have to deal with if you ever want to go down that path. This book convinced me that I don't! But that's a good thing. I still found it an enjoyable read, and inspirational, because she believes that any woman, including stay-at-home mom's, can be incredibly successful in whatever endeavor they choose.

I tend to not like anything entitled "Mommy"... it's usually a stereotypical experience with no soul behind it. But, I was very impressed with this book. She managed to be a very real mother with very difficult and real parenting / childcare challenges. I also loved reading about her entrepreneurial journey. This is definitely more a book about becoming a millionaire than it is about the Mommy experience. GREAT for any new business owner - particularly someone in the wholesale/retail distribution or anyone who has ever considered taking on an investor.

The author does a great job showing moms what to expect. I ultimately came to the same conclusion as M. Dobson. In her comment she says the book discouraged her from persuing her business b/c the sacrifices were too great. Levine is realistic because she's been there. She lays out the facts, and leaves the decision up to the reader. She did a fantastic job of showing the steps, describing pitfalls, and explaining how much effort & personal cost it would take to become a mommy millionaire.
IT was informative but most things i already experienced as i sell only

I loved this book! Kim gives great advice to moms who have businesses to start and/or products to sell. Her candid, straight-forward approach and her willingness to share both her mistakes and successes give this book the authenticity that other books by women entrepreneurs often seem to lack. I recommend it to any parents who are trying to juggle the responsibilities of family and entrepreneurial lives.

It is quite exciting to read this chick's story about the ups and downs of setting up a manufacturing business with 2 small children. It is well written, inspirational and an enjoyable read. I wish she said more about the "Mommy" role as well as the business- I am learning first hand that something has to give!

I felt this book had some very good information in it. This book will walk you through the whole process of patenting, starting a company, getting investors, etc. Just make sure your invention isn't already patented:)

I found the first 3/4 of this book very helpful and interesting. The last 1/4 seemed very rushed and the ending out of place. I was also disappointed to visit her website because it isn't that great. Overall though, worth reading if business is of interest.

I found this book really didn't apply to me. I skipped many details since I don't currently have a product to market or children.

I was hoping to get some tips from a busy entrepreneur but I will have to try to read it again later when it speaks to my life.

Even though I'm not a mother I still really enjoyed the advice in this book. Lavine gives it to you straight unlike other stuffy boring business books. I definitely recommend this to anyone starting a small business, even if you're not a mom it's a good read filed with valuable information.

I picked up this book unexpectedly and while I didn't actually finish it or read it straight through, I truly appreciated the story of this woman. She worked hard, had a good idea and did well for herself. An inspiration to me as I work my home-based business while tending to my family as well.

I skipped most of the technical stuff as I do not currently have a product-based business that I'm trying to launch, but I was fascinated by the author's personal story and perseverance.
