From normal to paranormal!

The Hero: Mike (a.k.a. Chee Keydood) - he is the lead guitarist of the Velvet Cocks (a.k.a. VC) and he loves women. He is a software engineer by day and a guitarist at night, when he isn’t playing, he hangs out in the goth club called Vamps where his band plays sometimes. One night while in the club, he goes backstage to use the facilities and comes across two women locked together. When the bouncer (Danton) breaks the women apart, he tells Mike to get the small blonde one out of there for her own good. He sees that she has what looks like a vampire bite on her neck and thinks they are into vampire play or something.
The heroine: Allana - after coming out of her stupor, she recognizes Mike as someone she once hooked up with and is disturbed by the fact that he didn’t recognize her. She thinks he is a jerk and isn’t afraid to tell him so. Allana’s best friend Lily is dating one of Mike’s band-mates Nico and she says Mike is a better guy than he acts, which is like bad boy to play up the rockstar image and that he is really nice with his friends. Ally is moving from teaching yoga at a Gym to working at opening a new Yoga studio of her own and needs to focus on that.
The Story: Danton from Heat is in this book as well. He now has enough power to be able to shift at will between his gargoyle and human forms. Though he still works at Vamps to watch over his girl Tracy who works there as well. He is also able to use his magic to help transform his brothers who also watch over the club, but they still can’t shift at will without help from Danton or without needing to help a human in danger.
Danton tells his brother about the events of the night. He tells them the man who witnessed the encounter and took the human woman away, resisted his magic when he tried to compel him to forget what he saw. He said he tried to ascertain what kind of supernatural Mike is, but couldn’t. They said he seemed human, but more.
Like the last book Heat, this one was told in multiple points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Amber Lee Connors and Kieran Flitton. the narrators do a great job. Both have great voices and show a lot of expression in their narration, so this was good. Though Kieran seemed to be overacting a bit in this one, not sure if it is the content or the narrator.
I also liked the story in this one. It is much better than Heat which was the first book in this series that I read. It was ok but not great, it started out too quickly and didn’t get into the story and world building till much later in the book. This one was better and gave a lot better background information up front, which I liked. This one was also a full sized book while the last one was a novella so that helped as well. This book also had some peeks into the next book, Combust

These books are all romances, all have paranormal creatures and can be read as standalones, but they are also intertwined and building a unique world with crossover characters.
Mike is the lead guitarist of the Velvet Cocks. Outrageous rock star by night and computer geek by day, Mike has taken full advantage of the girls who want to sleep with him for one night stands, never more. One night in VAMPS, he runs across a scene that has the head gargoyle/bouncer telling him to take a pretty blonde out of there and protect her. When he takes the girl out of there, she seems familiar, but he cannot remember her name.
Allana “Ally” is humiliated and mad. Mike was her fantasy one night stand several months ago and here she is with him again and he does not even remember her name. Mike’s personal quirk though is he does not remember any names, but he remembers everything else about Allana. They both feel an attraction and agree to see each other again, but to keep it casual.
Allana has a past that no one knows about and she is not willing to risk her heart on a man who does not know how to be in a relationship. Mike cannot seem to stop thinking about only Allana and wants to spend every minute with her. He has an overwhelming urge to protect her, which leads to a discovery of his heritage that he knows nothing about.
This series is one of my guilty pleasures. I always know I am going to get an entertaining paranormal story with great characters and plenty of steaming hot sex scenes. Allana and Mike, even with the paranormal twists are portrayed with emotions that anyone can relate to. The romance, plot and paranormal and/or human characters all pull you right into the story. Ms. Carlisle’s worldbuilding has witches, vampires, gargoyles and shifters that make me want to meet them all at VAMPS.

Holy Hot Inferno! Romance, Suspense, Rockers, Gargoyles, shifters & vamps? Oh yes, please! :D Better get your gloves on & crank up that A/C on high, coz the fan-freaking-tastic "BLAZE" by Lisa Carlisle fits the definitions perfectly: (1) as a VERB: burn fiercely or brightly...(2) as a NOUN: a huge fiercely burning fire :o ... A perfect title for a perfect book! :D IMHO, if I could, I would give this 6 stars :D A fast-paced story that has been refreshed & revamped from an older version about 6 years ago, so make sure you get this newest June 2018 edition! The 6th book & an amazing stand-alone from the must read world of Underground Encounters! ... This is Mike & Ally's story with some of the awesome recurring characters and great attention-to-detail that grabbed me from the get-go and held on tight! I was glued to the edge of my seat on this thrilling roller-coaster ride & did not want to put it down, so I read the whole thing in record time! ...I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, but I do know when I'm reading an awesome contemporary page-turning PNR that will be an upcoming bestseller! :D Even tho I volunteered to beta read, it was without any outside influences. Plus I've already preordered my own Kindle book to keep forever, so yes, these are my honest feelings & I highly recommend this book and series to all adult fans of fiction! And I can't wait for more, but I will ;)

Blaze is book six in the Underground Encounters series and it's another solid story! I feel it can be read as a standalone, but I think you would better understand the world if you read the books leading up to this one. The main characters, Mike and Allana, have been introduced in prior books, but it was mostly in passing so no real issues there. This is their story.
Mike is a computer engineer by day and punk rock star by night. While at the Vamps bar, he happens upon two women enjoying themselves in the dark shadows of the club. Mike can't tear his eyes away! When a bouncer asks his help by getting one of the women to safety, something clicks and he springs into action.
When the fog starts to clear in Allana's head, she's met with Mike. He's the guy she had a one night stand with a few months back. He doesn't remember her name and she is humiliated. He warns that she is in danger and they have to leave. Although she wants to refuse, she relents, and allows Mike get her somewhere safe. One thing leads to another.....
I am really enjoying this series! Each book is about a different couple but there are a lot of cross-over characters from book to book. The whole series has something to do with the Vamps nightclub and the different paranormal species that frequent it. Each story has been fun and intriguing to read!
Mike is a sweet guy and Allana, Ally, is a beautiful girl whose been badly hurt in the past. Both have baggage that needs to be dealt with. I liked how their story unfolded and blossomed. They had a chemistry that would not be denied and it was super hot! I also like how there are a number of different types of shifters within the story that make it interesting to read about.
Definitely pick up Blaze and the entire Underground Encounters series, and settle in for a great paranormal adventure!

Another great book to the series! This one brings Allana and Mike's story. The author does a great job developing the story and takes you into their lives with emotions and steam and kept me turning the pages with all the drama, tension and all the twists and turns along the way. It's well written with descriptive scenes, moves fluidly and is a terrific read.

Mike and Allana get a second chance when he rescues her from an attack. They have really good chemistry and I enjoyed the story.
I have been enjoying the whole series. You get all kinds of supernaturals. They all don't play nice so you have some real danger. They each feature some hot romances. Each book can be read as a standalone.

Who doesn’t love a computer geek who happens to also be a hot as hell guitarist in a rock band? Unfortunately his womanizing past might just keep the one away. The book starts out as a romance but by the end there is plenty of paranormal going on. Ally is the main female character. I really liked her and her independence and strive to open her own yoga studio. She is smart and beautiful. A fun romance with lots of laughs and a little mystery. Can’t wait to read more from the series.

This is book six of the Underground Encounters series and the main characters are computer geek and rock star Mike Harvey aka Chee Keydood, and yoga instructor Ally (Allana) Miles, who had a one night stand a few months ago, after her best friend Lily introduced her to Chee, whilst getting to know the lead singer Nico herself. Mike was at Vamps enjoying a night out when he went backstage and found a woman seemingly being kissed on the neck by another, which was a bit hot he thought. When one of the bouncers, Danton, came in, he pulled the woman, Nike, off Ally, telling Mike to make sure she got home safely. Ally recognises Mike as Chee, and their night together, but it seems Mike has no idea who she is, even though she looks familiar. He has quite a reputation for womanizing and making the most of his rock persona to get women. Ally objects to him taking her home, but he repeats what he was told about keeping her safe, with a strange feeling that he has to protect her, as he finds out her neck is bleeding and the other woman had obviously bitten her! He insists she is in danger and even though she is humiliated, she seems to have little option other than to allow him to accompany her. When she gets home, she makes it plain she never wants to see him again, even if the sex had been fantastic, no one wants to be forgotten!
He makes sure she gets in her building and then goes home but can’t get her out of his mind. He looks her up and finds out her name but isn’t sure if she is actually single. He questions Nico, who is in a loved-up relationship with her BF Lily, with Nico a bit reluctant to encourage Mike to pursue her, as Ally has a lot on her plate at the moment. She is finally giving up working for someone else and opening up her own yoga studio, with Lily helping her with all her promotional work and social media. Mike looks for Danton to asks him some questions and is shocked when Danton reveals his true self, believing Mike to have some non-human ancestry in his own mix, after seeing what should have been impossible, when he jumped off stage to protect Ally against a stalker like drunk! It seems Mike has a lot to learn about his own family’s history, however difficult Thessian’s may be to believe it. Ally has her own surprise about her bestie Lily, when it come sot her opening night at her new studio and matters having to be rearranged a little.
Turns out there is much more of the supernatural in play in Vamps and the friendships they all have, connecting them to stuff they never would have believed in prior to seeing it with their own eyes. Even then, it is still hard to wrap their heads around it all. Mike needs to work hard to romance Ally and show her that he is no longer the womaniser he once was, as her past keeps her from trying for anything permanent as she focuses on her dream of her own studio. A great mix of a human struggling from the bite of a nightwalker, a vampire who cares for her, plus all the gargoyles, shifters and a touch of witchcraft all thrown in, as trust in relationships an even friendship are tested. Nike is growing out of control, and I can’t wait to see if Michel can tame her thirst before she endangers anyone else. A steamy read that carries you along at a rapid pace, as romance between an unlikely pairing finally reaches a happy conclusion. Lisa Carlisle pens another fantastic paranormal romance novel, she is a gifted author with an imaginative mind and I am loving the fascinating world she created, a world that is filled with equally fascinating characters and paranormal beings. As a fan of rockstars and shifter stories I knew this book was going to be a treat, you do not many books like it and Lisa Carlisle does not disappoint one bit. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book. The characters are realistic, easy to connect with and relate to, I adored both lead characters Mike and Allana, aka Ally. Mike may be a computer geek but there is nothing geeky about him, he and his fellow geeks also play in an up and coming rock band and are frequent performers at Vamps. One night at the club he stumbles upon two chicks, at first it appeared they were having a moment but one of the bouncers stepped in and asked him to help a girl he recognized but in his stunned state could not place right way. Then it comes to him who she was but her name was lost to him. The bouncer tried to compel them to forget but he had no power over Mike, an oddity that comes into play later on in the book. Back to Ally and Mike, he gets her home safely, he feels protective of her and is drawn to him but she wants nothing to do with him since he did not remember who she was. But he does not give up on her, they have friends in common so he finds ways to see her again. I loved how everything plays out in this book, in addition to the pursuing romance storyline there are some great paranormal twists and surprises. The story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt and emotional moments and hot romance. Lisa Carlisle, thank you for another awesome story, it is enjoyable, entertaining and I loved every minute of it, loved the originality of it too.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Amber Lee Connors & Kieran Flitton are talented narrators and voice artists. They did an awesome job bringing the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. Their portrayal of the each character was spot on, sounding believable and just as I picture them to sound. Lisa Carlisle pens another fantastic paranormal romance novel, she is a gifted author with an imaginative mind and I am loving the fascinating world she created, a world that is filled with equally fascinating characters and paranormal beings. As a fan of rockstars and shifter stories I knew this book was going to be a treat, you do not many books like it and Lisa Carlisle does not disappoint one bit. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book. The characters are realistic, easy to connect with and relate to, I adored both lead characters Mike and Allana, aka Ally. Mike may be a computer geek but there is nothing geeky about him, he and his fellow geeks also play in an up and coming rock band and are frequent performers at Vamps. One night at the club he stumbles upon two chicks, at first it appeared they were having a moment but one of the bouncers stepped in and asked him to help a girl he recognized but in his stunned state could not place right way. Then it comes to him who she was but her name was lost to him. The bouncer tried to compel them to forget but he had no power over Mike, an oddity that comes into play later on in the book. Back to Ally and Mike, he gets her home safely, he feels protective of her and is drawn to him but she wants nothing to do with him since he did not remember who she was. But he does not give up on her, they have friends in common so he finds ways to see her again. I loved how everything plays out in this book, in addition to the pursuing romance storyline there are some great paranormal twists and surprises. The story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt and emotional moments and hot romance. Lisa Carlisle, thank you for another awesome story, it is enjoyable, entertaining and I loved every minute of it, loved the originality of it too.

The Velvet Cocks have returned to the stage at Vamps, an underground nightclub that caters to humans and all kinds of paranormals. Lead singer, Nico, and his girlfriend Lily, have embraced their differences and are now a solid couple. On stage, Chee Keydood, Mike, is jumping around the stage, dressed in another one of his outrageous outfits. A computer genius by day, sexy rock star by night, Mike has a penchant for one night stands and nothing more. Ally was one of those one nighters a while back and she watches him with interest. After the show, Mike tries to make his way to the bathroom, but comes across two women in a strange sort of embrace. One seems to have her teeth in the neck of the other and there's blood! The tall, blond bouncer tells Mike to get Ally out of there quickly and he literally carries her out of Vamps. At the car, she recognizes Mike, but Mike doesn't recognize her. She's upset because he didn't remember her name after spending an entire evening with her. Even though he's not known as boyfriend material, she's hurt. It's nearing New Year's Eve and Lily and Nico are thinking of throwing a New Year's bash for the band and friends. Lily is overwhelmed and anxious because her skills simply are not for entertaining, but Ally is a party throwing rock star! She'll certainly help, but she's not sure she wants to attend since Mike will be there. Sure enough, he's the first person she sees when she walks through the door and they're inexplicably drawn to each other. They share an early New Year's Eve kiss which lights a fire in them both. They spend a passionate night together, but Ally is determined to keep it a one night thing. She has a sad secret from her past that doesn't allow her to give her heart to anyone. Mike doesn't know what's happening to him, either, but it scares him that he wants to know more about a woman. After too many times of saying no to him, Mike realizes that they have no future together. With a little communication, they might have figured things out so much sooner, but that wouldn't have given him an opportunity to use some of the newfound skills he has. A secret that he never even knew he had, turns out to be a lifesaver. The trip into his past was a sweet sort of awakening, giving him an entirely different perception of his parents and grandparents. When the woman from the bathroom makes another appearance, everything falls into place and most questions are answered. Lisa Carlisle has written an enchanting story with fascinating and real characters who find a HFN ending. I would love to see more of Mike and Ally and continue on their journey to a HEA.

I actually listened to the audiobook, but that wasn't a choice when I wrote this review.
This story is a little more involved than some of the other books in the series. Mike is a computer geek who has a rock guitarist alter ego. Allana is a yoga instructor who is working to start her own business. She hooked up with Mike one night after one of his shows. When he finds her backstage at Vamps one night with a woman sucking on her neck, he doesn't recognize her. When a man breaks up the two women and tells Mike to get her out of there, he complies. The man also seems to be trying to compel him to forget what he saw, and he appears surprised when Mike is not affected by the compulsion.
Mike makes sure Allana gets home safely, but she is angry that he doesn't remember her name. She should have known better than to expect a womanizer like him to at least recall her name. When they meet again at a New's Even party their friends are hosting, they seem to "click" and leave together. Allana tells Mike that it is just a hookup and nothing serious. She is too busy with working to open her yoga studio to start any kind of relationship. Mike, however, has a different idea. He is crazy about Allana and is determined to see her again.
Not going to try to tell you the story as you can read it for yourself. Let's just say that Mike will discover that he is a little more than he thought he was. Some of his family history has been kept from him and he will be shocked when he discovers what it is.

When reading this series, you may experience vampires, witches, warlocks, shifters, gargoyles and humans interacting on many levels. These are unique and fun characters, be advised you may become addicted to the stories they have to tell.
There is a band that frequents Vamps, the Velvet Cocks. A group of nerdy IT men formed a band and their look and sound has exploded. Mike is one of those men. He likes the vibe of Vamps and goes there often. A year ago, he met a pretty girl named Allana and they agreed to a no strings night of fun. He even forgot her name.
When he is visiting Vamps he sees a woman, that he vaguely recognizes getting hot with a woman backstage. This other aggressive woman bites Allana on the neck like a vampire. Wait, what, that can’t be right. Danton, a bouncer at Vamps tells Mike to take Allana home after he separates the two women.

When she came out of her trance he couldn't figure out why she was ticked at him. Oh, yeah, what was her name? She was one of the nameless many from several months ago.
Not a great start to what he soon decided he wanted to be more than a one or in this case two-night stand. While trying to change his ways and her thoughts of him Mike would learn more about himself than he cared to learn. One thing that didn't change was his need to protect Allana and get her to change her mind about him. Would his help and charm melt through the ice around her heart?
Another hot offering in the Vamp series Blaze is as hot as the title and the characters are strong, feisty and belong together. Gargoyles! Love them and guards in a hot club? Wow. Each book is different in a world the author has created that is unique yet believable. Gotta luv those guys and the characters that frequent Vamps. Bring on the next!

Family History
When I first started reading this book I have to be honest I wasn't for sure how old the characters were sometimes you get a sense of an age but that didn't happen for me until they actually talked about them being in their early twenties. For me it seemed like Mike had an old soul in a young man’s body which was different.
By not having read the book “Ignite” were these characters met I was at a loss. Mike has a reputation as a one hitter quitter he doesn't do long-term and that's how he has lived his life since being in the band.
Ally is best friends with Lily and that's how she meets Mike originally by going to a show the band was putting on.
In this book it's been awhile since they seen each other and their first meeting after their hook up let's just say it's a little explosive.
The author has woven a tale that will question family history, and secrets. The books are stand alone but I will suggest that you read the previous ones so that you have a sense of the character mentioned in subsequent books for a better understanding.

When Ally is in danger, Mike’s protective instincts and gargoyle nature emerge, deepening their connection. As Mike learns more about his gargoyle side, and comes to accept his new identity, Ally comes to terms with her feelings. Loved that Ally wanted to take their relationship at a pace that was comfortable, rather than racing in. When Mike and Ally got together again it was suppose to be a one time thing, just sex but it seemed they both wanted more but even though Mike said as much Ally said no and they had a big fight and she left and they don't talk for a while. While a part Mike finds out about his family history and Ally finds out about her best friend lily's history. Ally let's Lily know that she is missing Mike and Lily makes sure she and her boyfriend Nico fix that only it didn't exactly turn out as they hoped. Seems that Ally has a problem every time she turns up at the club. Really enjoyed the characters in this one. This is a romantic tale with some fun. Enjoyable. Adult content. An epic add to this series. While it can be a stand alone read/ listen I think it's better when the previous books gave been read so you have some background on some of the secondary characters found in this read. Who doesn't love the nerd / rockstar? You get the best of both worlds and Allana is helpless to resist, but resist she tries. A great romance read with perfect narration, about protection, love and some paranormal craziness mixed in that is sure to please!

I enjoyed Mike and Allana’s story. A computer geek turned rock star, Mike is good with numbers and his guitar. People, not so much. So when a bouncer at a goth club urges him to get a woman to safety, he’s not sure how to respond. When he discovers she’s been bitten and her neck is bleeding, something wakes inside. And he’s compelled to protect her. But why? Allana is horrified when she runs into Mike again, but he doesn’t recognize her. The humiliation burns. She tries to get away from him, but he insists she's in danger and must leave the club with him... An intriguing paranormal read. And voluntarily leaving this review.

I loved reading about Mike and Allana's story. This book took us back to Vamps where all kinds of super naturals appear. Mike is a geek rocker who plays at Vamps and Ally is a yoga instructor who goes there. Lots of fun action and plenty of steam with both parties. I loved the interaction and the storyline. Great to have previous characters that I had previously read about appearing in the book. Secondary characters were great and I hope to hear more of them especially Nike from the first book. This book was fantastic and I enjoyed every page. I am voluntarily reviewing an arc.

Another keeper!
I’m loving this series and looking forward for more to come... Lisa Carlisle has created an incredible new paranormal world for this series. I had never read of gargoyles before reading this series and now I can’t get enough of them. If you love paranormal romance or your first time reading this genre, this is the best place to start. It has a little bit of everything: witches, vampires, shifters (gargoyles) and hopefully a few others along the way. Congrats Mrs. Carlisle... until the next one

I really enjoyed this book, it was fun to read. I loved how the story unfolded and their relationship developed over time. The chemistry between Mike and Ally was undeniable and very hot.
