Follow up to the groundbreaking book Kiss Daddy Goodnight that broke through the code of silence regarding child sexual abuse, examining various cases that have captured the nations attention
in a world where incest is a topic that when brought up elicits either uncomfortable silence, side-eyes and a wish to just keep pretending that it's not real or excited panting, talk of "consensual incest" and kinks/pornography, it is incredibly important for anyone who calls themselves even slightly feminist or an ally to assault victims to not ignore incest victims simply because their stories make you feel icky. this book is very personal and talks of many different experiences with incest, although i wish it explored forms of incest that are not dad-daughter
This was too much like it's so sad how this happens and back in the day when this wasn't even punished by law or society. I do have one question about the porn story, why to include that? That was weird
Heart breaking true stories of childhood sexual abuse committed by a family member narrated to the author, also a victim of sexual abuse by her father. It also discusses the psychology and different opinions by psychiatrists and therapists about how this type of abuse will affect the victims in the long run. Sometimes the graphic details were hard for me to stomach but the discussions of this taboo subject made for a very intriguing read.
