David Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious and constitutional heritage.

WallBuilders is a name taken from the Old Testament writings of Nehemiah, who led a grassroots movement to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and restore its strength and honor. In the same way, WallBuilders seeks to energize the grassroots today to become involved in strengthening their communities, states, and nation.

David is the author of numerous best-selling books, with the subjects being drawn largely from his massive library of tens of thousands of original writings from the Founding Era. He also addresses well over 400 groups each year.

His exhaustive research has rendered him an expert in historical and constitutional issues and he serves as a consultant to state and federal legislators, has participated in several cases at the Supreme Court, was involved in the development of the History/Social Studies standards for states such as Texas and California, and has helped produce history textbooks now used in schools across the nation.

Having gotten all giddy about this book coming out, my husband got it for me for my birthday last fall. You cannot go wrong with David Barton, and certainly cannot go wrong with the Bible. Together, you have a true masterpiece.

This beautiful book includes historical articles and biographies and commentary, timeline, full color and sepia maps and original illustrations all providing context for the foundation and origins of the United States of America and insights into the founders and their commitment to God and good. It helps to understand some of the misunderstood history and context for events and decisions from long ago that affect us today. I believe understanding this history and these connections is crucial. It is an example of how the word of God can inspire and guide us personally and as a nation in our day.

Do you know the connections between Genesis 16:12 and the Barbary Pirates, The Treaty of Tripoli and Islam's War on America? How about Exodus 3:7-8 and American Slavery? Deuteronomy 14 and Tax Wars? How about why Thomas Jefferson cut pages out of his Bible? How about Matthew 19 and the founders' thoughts on marriage and how that relates to the French Revolution and laws? How about John 17:3 and the central purpose for America's first college of higher education? Do you know what the "separation of church and state" is and where it originated? How about Acts 16:9, the seal of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the Indians and the Christian settlers in 1621? 1 Corinthians 8 and religious tolerance and rights of conscience in early America? How about the purpose and origin of the Bill of Rights? Romans 13:1-7 Was the American Revolution and act of rebellion or a righteous overthrow? What do you know about Patrick Henry?

The commentary is just that, commentary and it provides interesting thoughts to contemplate. I will not advocate for the truth or accuracy of the commentary, but I will advocate for thoughtful and prayerful consideration and questions leading you to truth. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." The history, biographies and context is invaluable. This book is an excellent resource. I look forward to studying it and referring to it for years to come.

The only disappointment, and it was significant, is that this is The New American Bible translation rather than the King James translation. The absence of the beauty and significance of the King James prose and context leaves this lacking. Luckily, though not as convenient, I can study with that translation right along side. Perhaps this makes for an even better study. The publishers explain their use of this particular translation in the beginning and give an account of the inspiration for this project. They have my humble gratitude and respect.

Received the Founders’ Bible as a gift from friends and read it cover to cover. I found every article very informative, exceptionally well-written, and especially enjoyed reading so many journal entries and original documents dating back hundreds of years. While it might seem unusual to include historical articles in a Bible, I found that the articles were so well-suited to their placements that they complemented the Scripture passages very nicely. The articles in no way make any attempt to add to or alter the Bible - they are merely placed throughout as a companion and, many times, connect the Scripture to the writings and thinking of our founders.
This book is no editorial or opinion-piece. It is history, our history, validated with extensive primary source documents that gave me great insight into the foundation for our country and the character of our founders. I most highly recommend this Bible to anyone who has any interest or curiosity about the United States of America, what is true or not true about our founding, and the basis of our government and legal system. What a treasure!!

This is likely a book I will always be reading since I read the Bible nearly every day. I'm typically able to completely read the Bible in a years time by reading for 10 minutes a day while I'm eating breakfast.

The copy I bought came with a book mark that gives you a daily reading log. So if you follow the log, you are reading the Old and New Testaments simultaneously. I have never read the Bible this way before so it is a new exprerience that i"m not totally sold on just yet. I prefer to read the Bible more traditionally like I would any other book.

What I enjoy is the work of David Barton and many others to tie historical documents - speeches, letters, and reports of the days of the founding of our country to show the influence of Christianity in particular -there would be no USA if there was not Church of England- on the founding of our nation. The other sad thing is showing how woefully ignorant people like me are in recognizing the everyday influences the work of Christ and the Old Testament (Moses) laws have on the formation of government and in particular the Republican from of democratic government we have had for nearly 250 years now. The historians have done a good job of sprinkling in these various historical artifacts and biographies of influential people into the Bible text. Hopefully more Americans will buy this book as it is likely to be outlawed by all the "free-thinkers" who love Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins but are unable to defend their belief system without mocking Christianity as a "fairytale" instead relying on junk science and their own "leaps of faith" to support their flimsly conclusions about life, morality, ethics, etc.

This is a great version of the Bible. I enjoyed the historical inserts that give a greater explanation of how the United States was formed based upon our Founding Fathers view of scriptures.

There is no doubt the Fathers understood the Divine blessing given to this great land.

It is a shame and a disgrace that our culture does not honor that heritage but has promoted immorality and abominations as "normal" in our society.

This is a great resource for pastors to use in sermon prep. The historical information will make great tie in examples for your sermons.

I cannot recommend this version of the Bible any higher than to say, "BUT IT!"

Love this Bible. It's filled with a lot of amazing founding father's quotes and the scriptures that back their words up. It's rich with American history.

I absolutely LOVED all the articles in here compiled by historian David Barton. Even though I learned history from Christian textbooks as child, the information I learned in these articles was amazing! Much of it I had never heard before. I learned so much about our founding fathers and Patriots! As for the Bible portion, the book introductions were among the best I've read and the cross referencing was wonderful. I also liked that the OT quotes were in all caps in the NT verses.

I think this is one of the most important books for every American to have in their personal library. As someone who already had a decent understanding of America as a Christian nation, I was still shocked at some points to see how overwhelming the actual evidence is and how strongly Christian our Founders really were (at some points even I was like “dude, isn’t that a little too far??”). After studying all of the source material presented in this book however, it makes so much sense how, despite all of her failures, America is without a doubt the greatest country the world has ever seen. When you understand that we are truly the first country in all of history founded upon Bible principles and dedicated to the honor and glory of God Almighty, it makes a lot more sense why we have been the recipients of such unmerited favor.
If you agree with that idea, you should definitely read this book.
If you completely disagree with that idea, you should also read this book. Because, unlike nearly all of the books which claim otherwise, this book is filled with actual references to an overwhelming number of founding era sources which undeniably point to the fact that we are a Christian nation. And if you engage with them honestly and with a willingness to learn, I am confident you’ll find that the arguments made by people who posit otherwise, are not nearly as convincing as you have been lead to believe…
