The fiercely independent Kara Dobbs lives a privileged life in the heart of New York City, but that privilege comes with a price. When tragedy strikes, she takes her sister and they flee New York. They go west to hide as far from their pasts as possible. When Kara steps off the train in Creede, Colorado, not only does she notice the beauty of the land and all of the construction in town, but she’s also quickly introduced to the seedy underbelly of their new home. Lucky for Kara, there’s another newcomer in town and he rides a white horse.
Aedan Casey has always seen himself as a lone wolf, traveling from town to town putting his carpentry skills to the test. But when an old friend asks for help, he finds himself in an up-and-coming Colorado town with two faces. Creede is rebuilding and becoming a family friendly place in the mountains, but when the sun goes down, the night speaks for itself. Aedan has never seen himself settling down, and certainly never in a place like Creede, but then a single touch changes his path.
But is attraction enough? Can a place like Creede, even with the help of angels, bring together two independent hearts?
Two headstrong, independent sisters are about to have their lives turned upside down when their father is killed and they need to get out of New York City… fast. Kara takes a chance with a clue left in her father’s safe spot and they head to Creede, Colorado. Once again, upon arrival someone tries to snatch Kara away and it’s through the help of a stranger that she is found. One stranger who lights up her life with his smile. Aedan is a traveling man, a carpenter with a magical touch with wood who has never felt the need to settle down. Yet this town with it’s dual personalities, one for the day of a typical Western town, and one by night of the underlying dangers around, pulls at him and tempts him to stay. Meeting Kara, hoping that she feels the attraction between them as well is enough to have Aedan thinking of staying in one place… with one special woman.
I enjoyed Captivating the Carpenter, Aedan and Kara fit well together, both independent yet willing to depend on the other. We run into several old friends, get a bit caught up with them and continue to move some underlying threads along. This was the first time though that I felt that the story was … unfinished, questions, reasonings left unanswered. I’m going to go out on a limb and believe that those loose threads dangling will be picked up in a future story. After all, Kara traveled to Creede with her sister Nessa… so I’m guessing time will bring the answers to those questions. If you love Western Historical Romance then you’re sure to enjoy this story and this entire series.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This one was fine. I liked Nessa better than Kara, but didn’t hate Kara and liked her relationship with Aidaen. I’m more than a little anxious for Dutch, Nessa and Sterling’s stories as they intrigue me so much. The one down side is Nora. I wish she wasn’t friends with anyone so she would have been contained in her own book. She’s just awful and boring. I know that we aren’t supposed to enjoy the Reverend and Benita but honestly they make me smile each time they appear. That would be a great book! A couple meant to hate each other and that others mock finding the most perfect love. Too bad I know that won’t happen. Anyway, I enjoy this book and look forward to the next.
Kara and her sister, Nessa, had to leave New York in a hurry. There father had been killed and their lives were in jeopardy. After finding a hidden stash of money her father left them, they got on a train to Colorado.
Aedan is a carpenter from Scranton, Pennsylvania, who has come to Creede, Colorado, to help his friend in rebuilding the town that had almost completely burned down. When he hears a woman scream he runs to help and almost trips over her as she lay unconscious on the ground. When he looks at her face he is immediately smitten.
Will Aedan and Kara find each other or will secrets keep them apart?
Going West was an exciting and frightening adventure for these two sisters. I enjoyed reading how it was for these two young women leaving the East Coast to travel by train to Colorado in its early days of mining. To unexpectedly find friends and more made an exciting book.
This is the thirteenth story in the Cowboys and Angels series. It involves sisters running from a bad situation and ending up in Creede. Meanwhile, a carpenter is needed to put the finishing touches on a new pub. This story does have a happy ever after and it leaves a path for a future story about the sister.
I absolutely loved the immediate connection between these two! How drawn they were to each other, when they would encounter each other with their eyes, it was just them. Everyone else was not even noticed. So sweet and oh so romantic.
I only wish there would have been an epilogue with a wedding.
Wonderful story with well-developed characters. There were several grammatical errors, he main one being using "her" instead of "she" in a sentence (like "her and you" instead of "she and you..."), but I loved the plot and story line enough to keep reading. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Aedan and Kara I enjoyed this adventurous and dramatic story that had me captivated from the beginning. This story had a very Happy and satisfying HEA. Although it did leaving me curious about her sis and more so Dutch is he good or not so good...hmmm.
Sara Jolene has another winner here. Just loved the whole character development and mystery leading up to the next book, without cliff hangers. The flow of the story is wonderful.
Love reading about the sisters, the way they fall in love and the trouble they find them self in and they way they find true love Would highly recommend reading the whole series, this is really good
This story leaves the reader will a few unanswered questions; but as the books in the series are all connected I'm sure there will be a resolution. This has been a fun series to read.
Another great book in a great series. I'm really enjoying this series and loved Kara and Adrian's story and all the characters of Creed and Bachelor. I look forward to more books in the series.
Another wonderful story in this series. Kara and Aedan are terrific characters, I love how Kara takes matters into her hands to protect herself and her sister.
I love when the series of books include past characters and keep them active in future books. Looking forward to seeing what Nessa has in store for us.
Another grea t book inthis multi authorserues. I really enjoy the stores, especially the angel aspect. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Captivating the Carpenter. Has the drama and the romance was sweet but I was unable to get into this book. I had a hard time reading it.I kept putting it down.
Aedan saves Kara from being kidnapped in Creede and both receive an awareness at first sight that their life will be changing from this attraction. - Babs
This story was a bit different.Kara and Nessa were raised almost as princesses, in the lap of luxury. Their worl is turned upside down and they have to literally run for their lives. They jump on a train in New York going west, Kara reads an advertisement asking for people to move to Creede and contact Rev Bing. They get off in Creede and the story goes from there. Easy read and I found it very enjoyable.
I love most of Cowboy and Angle series, this one was so hard to finish, because I wasn't able to connect. So many unanswered questions. Unnecessary suspense and the sister’s kidnapping wasn't related to this book at all. The whole book wasn't whole just build up for the next book. which I didn't like one bit. They were on the run and in great danger and she was acting like a spoilt brat, not understanding. very disappointing. The ending well left me with so many questions than Answers.
