A revenge story that started out with such promise - Hero had heroine fired from her job. Hero is still consumed with rage ten years after heroine's father's betrayal. Heroine is a martyr who is trying to make payments in an effort to redress the wrongs of her now-dead father.

It's all high emotion and high angst - along with treacherous body syndrome, which whiplashed the characters from hate to love to hate again.

That's fine. I don't enjoy treacherous body syndrome, but I've grown used to it in current HPs.

However, by the 70 per cent mark the hero had softened toward the heroine enough to beg her to stay with him. They had spent time together. He knew she was trustworthy (at least about her virginity) and he let his cousin say horrible things to her in front of him.

Heroine rightfully left him.

He did have to come crawling back when he found out who really betrayed him. He was contrite. He was dead wrong. Okay. I can overlook the lack of loyalty and balls to not stand up for the heroine if the author needed to push the heroine into action -once.

But not twice and right before their wedding. Hero didn't stand up for while talking to his uncle and heroine over heard it. What is wrong with this man? I know the author was trying to milk the distrust for the sake of drama, but it made the hero look so cowardly and left a bad feeling for the HEA.

Too bad. There were a lot of great elements in this story. But hero was coward and will never be the kind of husband the heroine deserves.

This had some good moments, but ultimately the hero with his harsh set-downs of the heroine as well as not supporting her at times a decent man would lost it for me.

The h has been struggling to support her brother in medical school (for once a sibling that deserves a sister's support) as well as paying off her father's debt to the hero.

The H has the heroine fired from her job, but compounds it by saying something unforgivable to the heroine about her dead father. It's the typical drill where he never believes a word she says even when faced with evidence. Yes, the heroine actually pursues the truth to the point where she shows the H bank statements instead of standing around and wringing her hands like most of these dweebs. (I just added a star for that, so thank you Dani Collins). But then she sleeps with him almost right away. Betraying body alert. At least the hero was good at sex, and it is quite steamy.

She stays on as his side piece as they wait to find out the mysterious disappearance of the money she has paid when she is HUGELY insulted and propositioned in front of the H by a cousin of his. The hero stands there like a deer in the headlights, and lets the heroine do the dirty work of gathering her pride together as she ditches his worthless rear end. Back to the dreary bedsit with her brother as she continues to send the H payments which he refuses.

The H's magical men have done their work as usual, just look at the cover, and he underwhelms her with a sad proposal. Poor heroine. She accepts because...she's in love...she wants a father for her baby..he's good in bed????

She almost ditches him a second time when she overhears a relative smarm in and question whether the baby is his, is he rushing things. The H once again says nothing in support of a woman he knows to be innocent. Man up Dante!

This HP has a mixed bag of reviews ,but if you go to a resturant and everyone orders the steak, you know that not everyone will have their steak cooked the same way if you get my meaning,it all just boils down to a matter of personal preference. I liked this one myself, kept me reading.
So to make a long review short, this is a tale of revenge against the heroine and all associated with her dastardly thieving family,or so the hero thinks.
The heroine gets fired from her job even before she starts because of the perceived misdeeds by her now deceased father against the hero and their family business. The heroine has been desperately trying to pay of the monetary debt, living in poverty and all things destitute.Of course, lust develops between the two,she becomes his lover until a fly in the ointment that derails the relationship and the heroine leaves until the truth is reveal a month later and the hero goes to make it all well. The heroine has been crashing on her younger brothers couch while working in a bar.
But of course the heroine is pregnant, tells the hero and he whisks her off to the ancestral homeland,Sicily.
His Noni is there too to welcome her with open arms and approving talks.
Lovely epilogue where the bad guy gets his comeuppence,he turned out to be the hero's beloved cousin, and another bambino on the way .
Well, this turned out not so short, sorta rambling on and on.I blame it on my flu for the disjointed thoughts..so there:)

Now I think I'm being fair with this rating because the story line was interesting but I felt the author's style of writing needed a bit more fine tuning. I am not saying that the author's writing is bad because that's not true. The author is quite good at writing free indirect discourse narrative. I just didn't quite connect with the way this specific novel was structured. It's written in the 3rd person's omniscient narrative voice ( which is great ) but there are too many abrupt changes from the H's point of view to the heroine's. The author uses the free indirect discourse narration style when she switches from one character's thoughts to another. I loved reading what both MC's were thinking but I wished that the shifts in perspective had been separated by a paragraph or two of exposition or descriptive prose. Not much emphasis was placed on setting and I thought this detracted from the story line, especially since the author had indicated in a short preface that she chose the Whistler, Canada setting for a specific reason. There was a scene where the MC's were skiing in Whistler and another in Sicily where there was some descriptive prose of the setting.

Now on to the actual story:

This is a revenge novel, of course. The H is an assholo supremo. He thinks the heroine's late dad had defrauded him years ago, so he fires her from her job. He also sets about treating her as a sex object. There was a lot of emphasis on the sexual chemistry between the MC's. That was easy to pick up because the author allowed the reader detailed glimpses of what each character was thinking. I liked the heroine Cami but she was a little too weak when it came to Dante's sexual effect on her. The guy would insult her and say horrible things about her dad one minute and then she would be jumping his bones the next ! Dante was a bit TSTL because he didn't investigate the fraud properly when it happened years ago. If he had done so, he would have realized that the real criminal was his own evil cousin Arturo. Cami and Dante's relationship seemed purely sexual and he treated her like a mistress. They had a short separation which ended when Dante discovered the truth about Arturo. Their separation had been caused ( ironically ) by Arturo's nasty reminder that Cami was the enemy. I hated that Dante didn't defend Cami when Arturo talked shit about her. Dante was such a wuss for a guy who is supposed to be an alpha male H. He even allowed his uncle to talk shit about Cami later on. His uncle made innuendos about Dante needing to protect himself and get a paternity test. What made Dante's silence worse, this time, was that it happened after the uncle knew that Cami and her dad were not criminals. I wanted Dante to act like an alpha male and tell his uncle to either mind his business or just stfu because the H knew that he was the father of Cami's unborn child. Dante pandered to his relatives too much.

I also agree with Lily when she reviewed the book and said that the epilogue was perhaps the best thing about this novel. Lol. It really was a beautiful epilogue ! I am not going to dismiss this author, however. I think she has much potential and I'll definitely try out her books in the future. Please don't let my review put you off from reading this novel because the story line was interesting. I am sure that there are readers who will probably rate this higher.

It wasn't bad, but not the greatest work by Dani Collins. And she can work magic! I LOVE her books The Healer by Dani Collins & Innocent's Nine-Month Scandal by Dani Collins , but this one was just "ok". Too much reminiscing or inner dialogue, and not enough banter/ character exchanges. I found myself skimming. Was still interested enough to finish, but really only cared about the dialogue. Would loved to have seen just... MORE. More happening. More scene changes. It is what it is. Plus, it was short. SO it might be a ME thing and not the book. Short stories or SHORIES can be hard to get into. And I've said it before and I'll say it again. I found I enjoy books around 400 pages more often than not, but a few Shories have caught my interest and admiration in the past. Plus, don't always have time for the longer reads.

Maybe it was a Harlequin thing? That might sound strange but hear me out. I don't know what Harlequin requires of its authors. I've read other Harlequin books before, and the majority of the books from different authors seemed C+/ B- ish. ALL very "SAME SAME". Couldn't tell you one author's work from another. Just ok. Not memorable. That's one thing I LOVE about Dani Collins. Even w/ the Harlequin backbone, she can stand out form the rest! Put one of her books in a Harlequin bundle, and hers will stick out like an oasis in the desert!

It's wonderful to behold, and I will still keep my eye out for her books in the future.

Dante no me gustó.

Dani Collins is one of my top-ten favourite authors and consequently, I literally stalk Harlequin.com whenever she has a new book release which is why I'm gutted at having to rate this book a measly star, but honestly, this was terrible. Bad characterisation, subpar prose, inadequate exposition, poor execution, a despicable male protagonist. All in all, I want the memory of this book wiped from my brain, pronto.

I've been awash in Dani Collins's backlist ever since discovering she populates her novels with characters from elsewhere in her published universe. Usually HP cameos are dropped like an anvil into a book, screaming "we are former protagonists, read our story if you haven't already," but Collins puts her past protagonists to work at their actual jobs in a way that forwards the current protagonists' plot. Here, the banker-hero from Bought by Her Italian Boss drops in with some bad news for the hero and his story is invoked to explain...a thing I'm not going to spoil. (Sorry for being sly. Point is: brief appearance, other novel's plot effectively leveraged. It's just good craft.)

3.5 stars rounded to 4

I loved the Eeyore-lite heroine who keeps getting up and trying to rebuild no matter how often life knocks her down. Ten years earlier, when she was 14 and training as a competitive skier in Northern Italy, her father signed a confession that he had stolen both money and a proprietary design for a self-driving car from the hero. The family moved back to Canada, where they had to sell all their belongings (including the heroine's skis) to pay the enormous reparations agreed to in the bargain. Two years later, when the heroine was 16, her entire family was in a car accident that killed both parents and injured the heroine and her brother, ending her hopes of a skiing career. When she was 18, the hero's lawyer contacted her with her father's signed confession and a demand for full reparations. For the past 6 years, she has been sending enormous monthly payments to the lawyer's bank account.

The hero is intent on punishing this child for the sins of her father. When his family's property management company purchases the hotel the heroine has recently been hired to manage, he has her fired. Note that this encounter is complete coincidence. The hero doesn't have private investigators tracking the heroine's every move to destroy her life. But his casual cruelty is nevertheless extremely effective, leaving her unemployed and homeless in an expensive resort town.

The heroine mentions the payments and the hero denies all knowledge. She then unwittingly helps his beloved grandmother during an asthma attack. Noni's gratitude and the need to investigate the payment situation keep the two temporarily bound.

I refuse to spoil the plot further from this point (which is a rarity from me), but I loved how the story developed except for

1) Collins's excessive descriptions of their overwhelming mutual sexual attraction. Not the sex scenes, which were racy and fine, but the constant eye-f*cking that leads to self-flagellation on both protagonists' parts for being attracted to someone they despise/who despises them. On her side it carries an overlay of shame. She knew who he was from the minute she saw him, so how could she be attracted to someone who hates her? On his side it carries the taint of gross objectification. At one point he wonders how he can be so attracted to someone he resents, and I'm thinking that if he had bothered to learn her name before imprinting all his sexual fantasies on her, he might not find himself in that position. Try introducing yourself to a girl before cataloging her tits and ass, dude.

Honestly, it's TOO MUCH detail. It's as if Collins has to bludgeon the reader with their physical attraction to explain how they ended up having non-hate sex even though they have no respect for one another. But no HP reader is going to cavil at a downtrodden heroine being swept up by passion for a vengeful hero. It's what they do. We don't need to be convinced by an avalanche of detail.

[Incidentally, you know who does a great job detailing sexual attraction and touchless foreplay? Michelle Reid. Just slipping that in here as the gold standard.]

2) A woeful lack of grovel that leads to a squib of an ending. When the remorseful hero discovers the heroine has been living in Dickensian poverty for years, he feels really bad and immediately takes steps to remove her from it. Still, he had been cruel to her. He had doubted her. He had been instrumental in her family's downslide. But everything he does in restitution just feels like more arrogance to me.

And then Collins flubs the perfect set-up for the hero to redeem himself. At the midpoint of the book, the heroine left the hero because one of his relatives shamed and degraded her while trying to "talk sense" into the hero, who he suggested was behaving like a besotted fool over the daughter of the man who had nearly financially destroyed their family. The hero didn't defend her, and the heroine fled. (It was a delicious scene, made tastier by later revelations.) At the climax, another relative -- less vindictive than the first -- is also advising the hero to exercise caution around the heroine...and instead of sticking up for her, as he should have done the first time, he remains silent AGAIN. It's such a wasted opportunity.

A botched ending would normally not receive more than 3 stars from me, but the good stuff in here is just so good I have to round up. Blind vengeance! Dickensian poverty! Evil relatives! Noble martyr non-doormat heroine!

I liked Consequence of his Revenge a lot...the first chapter hooked me and I could not stop reading. The chemistry between the heroine and hero was palpable. I usually skim the love making parts because they're usually clinical but not this time.

In this romance, the heroine tamed the hero. I totally bought the hea. The hero thought numerous times the heroine never lied to him and that's how he was tamed by her. He was never going to marry until he meets the heroine. I liked this romance a lot.

Dante Gallo has never forgiven his mentor, Stephen Fagan, after he discovers that Stephen had stolen Dante's plans for a new car and sold them to a competitor. Now that Stephen is dead, Dante is determined that his daughter, Cami will pay him back any way she can. He doesn't believe her when she says she *has* been paying it back, and is out to get her any way he can.

As I have come to read more and more Harlequin Presents book then after review said books, I have come to realize that the books that really become favorites or which I have loved the most are all associated with the feels I have while reading it. I guess it could be said of all people when dealing with what floats someone’s boat for one book but not the other then an opposite reaction from a completely person on the same books because reading is a subjective thing based on someone reading experience or just what they are feeling, which makes it really hard to go by reviews only in determined whether you will love a book or not because everyone is different. It’s all about personal taste, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that so when asked to review a book it is not based on anything aside from the reader. It doesn’t mean a book is bad or not, but it’s just what the person feels while reading that particular book and opinions can vary from person to person.

For me I tend to know what books give me the feels and what authors are usually responsible for providing said feels. So I tend to stick to the same authors over and over again, and sometimes I love that particular book and sometimes I don’t, though nine out of ten my favorite authors book I usually love. I do try new authors from time to time too, and I give them a chance, but as I said I gravitate towards the same author because they give me the feels with the tried and true method. I don’t know what the magic formula is but it just works for me. There are times that I am surprised by book and they really just blow me away from both my favorite authors and new ones too.

What’s my point with this long observation in this review and especially concerning this book. My point was that I loved every single moment of this Dani Collins book, and that doesn’t surprise me because she’s one of my favorite authors, and I really can’t go wrong with her, but for some reason while I was reading and getting all the feels that I love to get, I could see other people being not so impressed or overwhelmed by it like I was. It was the first time in my reading experience that I ever thought of other people’s reaction to what people would think about this book. Luckily it didn’t take my own enjoyment away from the story, but it was the first time that it came into my head, and I thought I share hence the above two paragraphs explaining it. So, I just wanted to point that out. And jus know that just because I had certain feels associated, doesn’t mean that you will or you won’t. This is just my perspective of how I felt while reading this book.

On to the review portion of this entry, like I said I really loved this book because it did give me a lot of feels. Not just swoony ones, but tearful ones, happy ones, joyous, heartbreaking ones just to name a few. This story just was a whole roller coaster of ride from the very beginning until the end. There was just so much emotional goodness that I almost couldn’t stand it. It was amazing and just filled me up with all the goodness inside that I love reading from so much. This book demonstrated why I loved reading so much because it was very much not just words on a page but an experience that I went right along with the characters on their journey for love, and it was fantastic. That’s all I want from my reading life, and I wish I got that every time I picked up a book. And this one gave me all that and more.

My taste run to this Harlequin Presents stories that have a lot of angst, tension, and pain, which this one had in spades. I love when misunderstandings occur and its up to the job of the characters to overcome these misconceptions once they got to know said character and learn the truth so they could get their happily ever after in the end. Even if they kind of a jerk about it especially those alpha males out there, but I know there are moments where they shine and more make up for the atrocious behavior. I just love those types of stories because there so much to them that just brings all the rawness and goodness to the table that usually brings around an intense attraction between them.

With this particular story Dante has been blackballing Cami for years because he believed her father stole from him and wanted to punish her because of that. He doesn’t trust her or anyone to do with her family, blaming the entire family for his family’s downfall. So, he sent to make her life hell even going so far as not giving her the job that she was hired for once he took over the company, leaving her with nothing, which just left her hollow and broken like so many times in her past where things have been taken again and again from her. It was a blow, but he doesn’t want to hear anything else about it, but he didn’t count on the sparks that flew between them, which was beyond hot.

In what Dani Collins did was really brilliant because with both Cami and Dante they were both attracted to each other even though they knew they shouldn’t be, and Dani Collins went into detailed descriptions of what attracted Cami to Dante, and vice versa, and it was so much more than just physical, though that was a big part of it. It was a pull. A connection that neither one of them could define they just knew it was there. And I felt that pull in the writing and just that intense attraction between them. The need. The wanting. That all consuming thing that neither could reason with, and I was really impressed with it. I was sucked into their attraction just like they were, and I could feel it especially on his end when he was taking in her attributes and just getting more and more drawn in by her. And that’s rare thing that I get pulled into their attraction right along with them and feel it with them. I understood it perfectly well. Usually I know they have chemistry and can feel their connection, but not pull into with them. It was an experience and just made me all the more invested in their romance all the more.

Poor Cami, no matter what she did, she just couldn’t do anything to prove to Dante that she was trustworthy and was doing everything in her power to prove that. She even tried to make up for her father’s wrong doings by paying restitution herself even though she was living basically pay check to pay check and basically taking care of her brother’s needs, and my heart broke for her every time she opened herself up to Dante and was slapped down again because he didn’t believe her. She showed an incredible amount of vulnerability to him even though he kept salting the wound. She was drawn to him and wanted him to like her because she was starting to fall for him. Now as much as she showed that vulnerable side to him more often than not, she did have this incredible strength to her too. With all that happened in her life she had to be strong and she kept pushing and pushing until she survived. I liked that she stood up to him and basically gave him a taste of his own medicine, showing she wasn’t easy to handle. She would fight and fight him even if it was useless to fight.

As for Dante, as much of a jerk that he was and refused to listen time and time again, I loved him. I might wanted to shake him at times, but there was never a time where I actively hated him. I understood why he was doing what he was doing even if it wasn’t always right, but I saw other sides of his personality that did make me totally swoon. Other readers might not agree hence the point I made above, but for me it worked. He had this sweet side and showed it in little ways to show that he did in fact care for Cami even if he wouldn’t admit it. I loved he was devoted to him family especially with his grandmother where his most tender of side came out on display. I loved that even though he acted not so nicely to Cami especially in the beginning that once he got to know her, his feelings came more on the caring and protective side, and even though he only admitted it to himself at least he admitted it. He would not be vulnerable in front of her so he put up that jerky front but what laid beneath the surface was beautiful. I could tell that he was smitten with Cami almost from the beginning, and again it wasn’t always physical. There was that pulse and connection between them which was beautifully on display. But I really felt with Dante, that he genuinely wanted closeness with her and to be as close as could with her, and he was in multiple ways and times, but he got to know her as well, and he really liked what he saw.

Their romance was pretty terrific too. There were a lot of romantic moments and gestures between them that just swept me away. There were a lot of sweet moments. There was the skiing scene then the talk right after that at the lodge where she put down her walls for him and showed him who she truly was. There were just little gestures here and there that were very sweet and showed how much they were coming to care about her.

Now the love scenes were as romantic as they were steamy. They had some of the sexiest scenes that I have read in quite awhile. There was a lot of steam going on. There was the fashion show Cami gave Dante was so full of foreplay and lot of anticipation then they later full blown love scene had the blood racing. There was just so much fused in that one moment that I could barely stand it. It was beautiful and sexy in one token. It was a very well written scene., and it was pretty darn incredible as was the first time scene. Just how it started was really freaking brilliant and definitely amped it up by a hundred degrees. It started from the steamy hot tub to the bedroom, and it was beyond scorching yet it was a beautiful scene between two people who wanted to be close to one another without any layers in between, and that was what happened. All inhibitions were shed to engage not only in pleasure but that ultimate connection. It was very intense and mind blowing and so satisfying after waiting all that time for it. I knew they were going to be explosive together, but I didn’t know how explosive until it happened. It was so good. OMG. Loved it.

Also there was a little bit of mystery going on in this book surrounding the events of the past and what was believed to be true wasn’t so it was figuring out what the truth actually was, and I absolutely loved that. It just added even more layers and flair to the story. It was an intriguing element for sure and did keep me guessing because I figured it could go one of two ways and I was right. So that kept me on my toes as well and really engaged me more into the story, though I was just engaged with the romance between Dante and Cami romance. This just brought another dimension to it.

I could probably go on and on about this book for days of why it consumed me, and why I just loved it so much but I fear I am going to run out of space. I loved it. It was just brilliant and gave me all the feels that I wanted to feel while reading an emotional and intense romance with many ups and downs along the way. It was amazing. The characters were the biggest selling factor to this story because I loved them and how they reacted with one another. They had this intense connection that I loved seeing them explore all while with the backdrop of this misunderstandings floating in the background, and it was so good. There was a lot of good angst. There was tension between them. There was romance. There was connection between them. It just had a little bit of everything, and that was amazing. This is what Dani Collins is known for and I love that and I love her, and that’s why she’s an auto buy author me. She just knows how to create this really emotional and angst love stories just my flavor. I will be reading this book again for sure sometime in the future.

Highly recommend for all Dani Collins fans out there as well as Presents fans and just fans of really intense, angsty love stories.

The first half of the book was tedious, but I got more into it as the book progressed. It’s not a stellar read, but it became entertaining enough to hold my interest.

The h’s catch phrase was “I’m fine”, as she never really shared her true feelings. She was strong enough to fight through all of the hardship that was thrown at her, but never had any real faith in herself.

The H was blinded by his own mistrust. How could he say he respected and loved the h’s father so much but never truly believed him when he professed his innocence.

These two blind souls eventually came together and halfway through the book, began to heal a little.

Not a perfect book, but not the stinker I was expecting either.

I savoured every word in this book what a fabulous story a story of revenge with a twist of Cinderella, of hurt and strength and the story of true love and caring when some heroes fall for cupid’s arrow they fall and Dante did very sensually fall for beautiful caring Cami, once you pick this one up you are not going to want to put it down.

Cami Fagan has had a pretty tough life growing up her father had been accused of theft they were left with nothing and she had to give up skiing and then tragedy with a car accident that left her and her brother orphans, but Cami carried on worked hard and was doing everything she could to get ahead and that meant taking on a new job at another hotel in Whistler Canada. Suddenly there is no job anymore stopped before she started by the new owner Dante Gallo, although they have never met there is a link and Cami is determined to be honest with him if he will let her.

Dante arrives and finds the name Fagan on the staff list and is shocked, that name has bought back so many bad memories of his past yes he comes from a big Sicilian family and yes they are wealthy but things could have been very different and when Cami does everything she can to prove him wrong the closer they get the sensual pull cannot be denied and the strong man who would never love is falling under her spell.

Cami’s life had made her a little negative even though she is still the most caring and loving heroine, where Dante’s life had made him tough and strong, so when some truths are starting to unfold and the very sensual spark that could light up the city begins to pull them together and then there are consequences they need to learn to trust one another and show their love. This is a sigh worthy story, moving and emotional I really enjoyed this one from start to finish Cami and Dante are rich in character and love and to see them so very happy bought a smile to my face, thank you MS Collins for a fabulous story one that I highly recommend.

No - I’m afraid didn’t like it.

It was like 2 books. The first half I hated because the hero, Dante was appallingly one dimensional, and an absolute jerk. He was utterly and ridiculously disbelieving of everything the heroine said and not so bright if he hadn’t figured out the truth over the last 10 years. His behaviour when Arturo said such dreadful things was beyond unacceptable and hateful.

The heroine started off strong and feisty and then suddenly became a weak, easily seduced numpty. I love the idea of overwhelming lust but not at the expense of the heroine’s intelligence. There was nothing attractive about Dante for the first few chapters and the author never made me believe that the heroine would ignore his unpleasantness so easily. I wasn’t overly fond of the brother either. The last quarter of the book was lovely. I loved the way the relationship developed and played out. Superb.

Could have been a great story with more nuanced characters in the first half of the book. I have liked lots of this author’s books, but this one was very disappointing.

Hero looking to avenge his family by 'torturing' the heroine emotionally, financially only to find out that This was a nice book all in all. Typical angsty beginning where heroine was forced to "pay" for her father's mistake to the Hero's family.

General Summary: Dante Gallo has never forgiven the family for stealing the designs for his self-driving car and almost ruining his family financially. He refuses to give Cami Fagen, the daughter of the man who stole his designs, a job at his hotel, even though she is more than qualified. Cami's parents died years before and left her and her brother in dire financial circumstances. Cami tries to get Dante to change his mind about the job but he refuses to believe anything she says, especially when she insists she’s been paying back her father's debt to him for years. However, family duty means that Dante must spend time with Cami to appease his grandmother and the pair find themselves overwhelmed by their mutual attraction. When Cami ends up pregnant, they have to learn how to put the past behind them and trust one another in order to find their happily ever after.

My Review: I do not enjoy giving 1 star reviews but honestly, this book drove me crazy. The hero was an over-bearing jerk and the heroine was a spineless wimp for most of the story. The author did a good job trying to show the reasons why both characters behaved the way they did but I couldn't bring myself to like either one of them very much. And the reasons they needed to spend time together were weak and unbelievable to me, so the whole story just fell flat.

I really enjoyed this book. The story played with my emotions, and heart strings. The heroine Cami Fagan has been knocked down several times throughout her life, and always got back up fighting. She lost her parents when she was teen. She got custody her younger brother as soon as she good. When her parents died, they were in debt, and didn’t have anything to leave Cami or brother. Instead Cami was still trying to pay off her parent’s debt years later. Cami is about to get a good job, and a new place to live when she has the rug pulled out from under her one more time. The hotel had been bought out, and the new owner fired her before her first day. Dante held a grudge against Cami’s family. Cami confronted him, and kept trying to proof her innocence in the first part of the book. There was sexual attraction that burned hot between Cami, and Dante. The story turned out to be a really sweet love story.

The reviews for this book are yikes! It never fails: any book I love everyone else hates lol.

I liked this revenge story. The H is this one had a damn good reason to hate the h and her family but of course desire makes him get over that at least begrudgingly.

Dani Collins was the first Presents author I’ve ever read and it’s been a while since I picked up something from her. Dante was a jerk which we love in Presents and I liked that this was mostly set in Canada. A break from the same European locations.

I like the heroine Cami. She certainly stood up for herself despite the fire situations she was put in.

Lots of swoony and sexy moments and just what I needed after the stressful week.

DC, I've always have adored your style of writing.I've always thought the day you write about a Sicilian hero, he would have been alpha and unforgivable. Instead we get 'Vanilla'. Your first half was the 'bomb', The second half 'fallen through'. The times the heroine was bad mouthed and the hero tolerated it twice wasn't 'Sicilian-like' at all. Regardless of how he doubted her innocence I expected more rage and revenge to his cousin and Uncle. Sicilian heroes knew their women and are extremely passionate. For the first Sicilian hero book, I liked it. I want more from you!!! more severity more passion, anger ,desire etc. Congratulations on the 25th book anniversary. A happy read

USA Today best-selling author Dani Collins blends old secrets, financial chicanery, powerful emotion, forbidden attraction and red-hot passion in a captivating Harlequin Presents novel guaranteed to hold readers spellbound: Consequence of His Revenge!

Cami Fagan had thought that she had her future all mapped out: she was going to become a competitive skiing champion and spend her life winning medals and making her parents proud. Unfortunately, fate had other ideas in store for her. A cruel twist of fate had soon put paid to her dreams and when her parents had died in a tragic accident, Cami had not only to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and cope with all the pain and anguish of losing her parents, but also with the shock that her father had been apparently guilty of stealing from infamous Sicilian Dante Gallo! Cami couldn’t believe that her gentle and kind-hearted father could be guilty of any crime, let alone one so heinous. Determined to clear his name and pay back what she owes Dante Gallo, Cami works every hour of the day in a series of back-breaking jobs desperate to clear her debt. After what seems like a lifetime of bad luck, Cami think she’s landed on her feet when she gets a fantastic managerial job – until she discovers that her boss is none other than Dante Gallo, who fires her on the spot!

Dante is a man who never forgives and he certainly never forgets. He had been incandescent with rage when he discovered that the Fagan family had almost ruined him and he had vowed to make them pay harshly. When Cami comes to him for a job, he is adamant not to give her the time of day – but he hadn’t counted on how persistent she was – or how attractive! Dante’s instincts might be telling him to give Cami a very wide berth and to stay away from her, but he somehow cannot seem to stop himself from kissing her or from taking her to bed!

Cami has every reason to hate Dante, but resisting him soon proves to be easier said than done. Knowing full well that Dante does not trust her and that he thinks her family is made up of liars and crooks, Cami decides that the best solution for her is to keep her heart firmly under lock and key and to keep her distance from Dante. She is determined to clear her father’s name and prove his innocence, but Dante seems to have made up his mind and refuses to listen to reason and makes it perfectly clear that he does not trust her.

However, when Cami finds out that she is pregnant with Dante’s baby, will the two of them manage to work through all the obstacles standing in their way and fight for their relationship? Or is their love destined to fail?

Dani Collins has written a fast-paced, steamy and emotional contemporary romance with a courageous, determined and resourceful heroine readers will admire for her strength and resilience and a gorgeous Sicilian hero who will make them swoon.

Consequence of His Revenge is a fantastic tale romance readers are simply going to lap up. Passionate, engrossing and wonderfully romantic, Consequence of His Revenge is a first rate Harlequin Presents novel that should not be missed!

A ruthless seduction! He believes she should continue to pay for her father's sins up until the moment that he meets her and feels an instant burning need to make her his! She can't believe he doubts her honesty when she's trying her best to make things up to him. As the truth slowly starts coming out, things are not at all what they seemed. Can they find a way to continue their exploration of each other or will real life get in their way yet again? I really enjoyed this story! The characters were intriguing and the story line kept my interest throughout.

Cami Fagan believes she is about to start a new job when the offer is rescinded right at the last minute. She's shocked, broke and without other arrangements, and can't for the life of her figure out why ... until she finds out the name of the new owner ... Dante Gallo ... she should have known he was behind this!

Successful businessman Dante Gallo has worked hard to overcome the hardship he faced early on in his career, and he's not one to forgive and forget when wronged, so the fact that he made sure Cami was fired before her job even began should be of no surprise to her! When faced with her confronting him up close and personal, he forgets her father's theft for a brief moment ... just long enough to let his utter desire of her show through!
