Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

Considering I just left Jesse Ward’s world; I’m not surprised that this book fell flat for me! Their just wasn’t enough emotion, passion or connection for me to get even a little excited about! Time to move on!!! ;-)

Sam Crescent has been my go-to author for well over 5 years now and "Her Monster" is one of my favorite stories because we get to see what a woman can do for the dark, broody alpha male who felt like that elusive emotion, 'love' was an alien word or concept to his survival.

A gambler owed a debt to hero, Caleb Carson so he gave the only thing he had to save his life, his shy but scared 18- year old daughter, the heroine of this story, Faith. Caleb was not a good man so he took great pleasure in killing men for his brother, Beast Carson. But when it came to fearful Faith, Caleb only wanted to protect her since after all he did own her. It upsets him immensely how a father could offer his daughter to him so easily so he killed the addicted gambler. Overtime he told Faith what he had done to her father but it didn't really matter to her because of the pain and fear her father had cause her throughout her life. In one city, men ran her down and scarred her face due to her father not being able to pay another debt. When she told Caleb that story of her scarring he realized their lives as been similar-- both of their fathers were cruel people! I loved the chemistry between this couple but it was really interesting how Faith never judged Caleb for the job he did for his family. She was always understanding but as they begin a sexual relationship Faith went from scared mouse to empowered in Caleb's present and he admired that about her. Also, I immediately noticed that when it came to Faith, he was changing for the best, smiling more and happy when around her.

I enjoyed the secondary characters in this story too. Anne was the cook in Caleb's household but she had also worked for Caleb and Beast when they were young boys so she knew their ways and at time act as a mother to them. Then there was Caleb and Beast's nephew Dwayne who was training to take a role in the Carson family. I hope he gets a story as well.

A enjoyable 4 star read!

"Her Monster" is the story of Caleb and Faith.
A scarred heroine sold by her father.
A mafia tortured hero who buys her.
Sweet, slow burning attraction that blooms in a dark world.
Lots of semi hot sex.
A HFN/HEA of sorts.
One of SC's better works and a little different from her recent novels.
Enjoyed it.
Safe

I wanted Calebs story since meeting him in Her Beast. Which you don't need to read before this one, but I do recommend to. And while I'm not dissapointed with Calebs story, but I didn't enjoyed it as much as his brothers, Beast, either. It wasn't bad read, it just was missing something that I can't explain.
Maybe it's Faith. I liked that she wasn't this ready to sacrifice herself to protect her douche bag father. And I liked how accepting she was of Caleb and his world.
But despite those, I couldn't connect with her. Meaning I didn't cared for her, or her situation.
I liked Caleb, though. His possessiveness, his dangerous aura, his caring, even though he would deny it. I found no faults with him. Well, maybe except he let his past affect him too much at the present. In a way I can understand it. His father did a number on him, to put it lightly. But one thing he needs to understand is that out of his lifestyle, doesn't mean it to be safer. Life itself has it's own dangers.
And like after reading Her Beast, I wanted Calebs story, now after reading this, well, maybe even after Her Beast, I want to hear Calebs and Beast nephew, Dwaynes, story. Yeah, he isn't something at the present, 'whiny little girl' as Caleb put it, but I think he can be something in the future.

This was my first Sam Crescent book. I own several, I just hadn't read any before. I was surprised at the writing. It is disjointed. The conversations do not flow. Random odd words are thrown in sporadically. The characters repeated things to each other for no reason.

I went through and read some other reviews. They all seem to love this book. I don't know why. The story was okay. Nothing spectacular. The characters did nothing for me. I wasn't even impressed with the sex scenes. If you like Sam Crescent, you will probably like this one. If you are looking for a good story with good writing, keep looking.

I am a little bit in love with the Carson family and the sexy, dangerous men in it. First we met Beast Carson (The Beast) now we get a look at his younger brother, Caleb Carson. Faith Grey is 18 years old and she learned at an early age that her father was a piece of shit she couldn't rely on. Her father owed Caleb Carson money and had no problem offering her as payment to him. Caleb had no interest in taking a barely legal girl as payment for a debt. But when he looked into Faith's eyes something changed and suddenly he wanted to protect her. He knew if her father was willing to hand her over to a man like him than God knows what he was capable of. Three years ago her father pissed off the wrong people and they sent him a message by hitting Faith with their car. She now has a scar down one side of her face and she knows a man like Caleb would never want someone like her. Caleb and Beast's father was a monster and he did a number on them both. Caleb doesn't believe he deserves love but he wants something with Faith, if only she didn't avoid him. Anne is the head of Caleb's house, she cooks and hires all the staff. She's known Caleb since he was a child and she wants to see him happy so she plays matchmaker for him and Faith. I loved this book and the epilogue, the part where she gives him the kittens was so friggin' sweet.

We finally have Caleb story and I am so happy with it I enjoyed his more then Beast..

Caleb had to collect a debt and the guy gave his daughter Faith away angry about that Caleb takes her and kills her father he never deserved her. Faith was scared but she knew she was safe with Caleb knowing he wouldn't want her she had scars and she was on the heavy side but their relationship was so good...

Talks and quite dinners between the two, he started falling for her but he told her he didn't believe in love and she wasn't looking.. can they make it work? Or is Caleb to stubborn to let her in?

Opening old wounds
These Carson men just get you right in the feels. There past, and the life they live take a toll on a being, but the author helps them find that woman who is just perfect for them. I love this couple! I love that Caleb had to harden his heart and only Faith’s love can bring out his soft center. This book is another age-gap, but this young is no child. Life has made her grow up quick, but she still has an air of innocence to her. I can’t wait to see what book three brings.

This story is short, fast paced and dark. I read this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. I liked that Caleb was a dark character. He was a man that you don’t mess with. He had no problem in killing traitors. I liked that he took Faith as payment in order to protect her from her waste of space father. I liked Faith. I liked how accepting Faith was of what Caleb did. She didn’t judge him for killing people, she accepted him for what he was.
The chemistry between Caleb and Faith was clear to see. I liked that they didn’t rush into a relationship. The relationship between them progressed slowly. They got to know one another first before giving in to their attraction for one another.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is a nice read.

At 107 pgs this is a short May/December romance. H struggles with internal conflict that h is better off with someone else (he’s too old, his world is surrounded by violence.) In that respect was actually relieved for the shorter length. I don’t think I could have slogged through the standard 300 pgs before H ultimately pulled his head out of his bum before finally following his heart.

Couple was cute. Becoming an oasis of love and support for one another. H is an enforcer for a crime family so book is perfect for those keen for mafia themes.

“Her Monster” is book two in a set of three novellas following the men of the Carson Crime family. Though the writing in “Her Monster” (book 2) was done well the synopsis of the other two didn’t speak to me, so I’ll be passing.

But, in brief, I think Sam Crescent is much, much better with Stacy Espino on Killer of Kings. This book has a weird timeline and uninteresting characters. And in my opinion, as a chubby girl myself, I think that beautiful "even with her curves" is so disparaging a description I almost didn't continue. Why would I want to continue a romance book with a main character who seemed to have to convince himself he liked her? That's not why I read romance. I'll keep reading Killer of Kings, but I'll have to take a hard pass on this.

Another book with girl-as-a-debt-payment theme. Though there's instant attraction in the beginning, both MCs didnt realize and thought it's just lust. I liked the way their relationship grew and blossoming. How two different side-of-a-coin mingle perfectly well and complement each other. Because i had always been a sucker for "two opposites attract"; No matter how different those two opposites, there's always one huge common denominator that pulled them together. And that's how this story was all about. A good story on how everyone deserved a chance for happiness, including the "butcher" of the mob!

A father using his child to settle a debt, hell no, just no! And wasn't the first time.
Caleb was the one who collected the debt, he couldn't believe that her father just gave her to someone to settle his debts. From the minute he saw her he wanted to protect her and keep her safe and he really did do that.

I loved the whole alpha male thing that Caleb had going on, Faith I don't know. I felt bad for her and her situation but yah I didn't actually have anything else from my side on her. She was just okay! Not a favourite of mine but not all stories can be though

Loved this book, a great addition to this series. I loved everything about this story, from start to finish. A great storyline that was intriguing and entertaining, and filled with drama, violence, suspense, and romance. I really loved Caleb and Faith, they were a good match and their chemistry was hot and undeniable. I’ve also just noticed the play on the main female characters names in this book and the last and I think they are very fitting and I love them. A very enjoyable read.

Well hmm, Caleb and Faith story. Can't say that I like it or dislike it. Not sure how I feel about Faith with her scar and her abusive daddy issues. Then all of sudden she got a back bone. Again hmm. The best part of this book was Anne and his nephew Dwayne. His brother, eh. Hope seems very sweet. Again still a fan.

It was alright. There where a lot of aspects I liked in this book but some things where just so annoying with how much they where repeated, for example basically every time the H looked at the h for most of the book he mentions her scar there was just a lot of instances like that. Apart from that it was an alright book. :)

Great story

I enjoyed this story and gaining some additional insight into Caleb’s upbringing. Faith started out so scared and reserved, but once she got comfortable, she exploded out of her shell. Caleb struggled so hard with his feelings for Faith. Thankfully between Beast and his housekeeper, he was reminded of how much love can heal all wounds..with the person.

We are definitely getting a Dwayne book out of this series.

Overall good read! Didn't enjoy this one as much as the first though. This was more slow burn instead of insta lust/love that I'm used to. Looking forward to Dwayne's story next. I know he needed some tough love but sometimes I wasn't feeling any love b/t uncle and nephew at all.

Her Monster is another great book by Crescent. A little dark mixed with steam, to give a solid romance. Crescent doesn't disappoint. Happy Reading!!!
