Author Ted Galdi poured all of his writing talent into this short story to arrive at a tale that held me captive from beginning to end. There was suitable depth drawn into the main character to where I was able to draw a solid connection. This well-written narrative was the perfect read to be done in one sitting.
Marty Lorrini is owner-operator of a car wash. When it rains, there's no business. Today it rained. So he got in his car and came home. To his dismay he found his baby girl Hazel was missing. His mother-in-law Carol who had been watching her was speechless. He thought, "if she'd really been watching her then she wouldn't be missing." He was fit to be tied.
A detective is called to the scene. He tells Marty and his wife Becca the grim news that if Hazel isn't found in 24 hours then the odds go down drastically of her being recovered. Not exactly what they wanted to hear. After the detective leaves Marty decides to take matters into his own hands. With the clock ticking away he's not going to wait for someone else to get moving on this. He has his thoughts and may possibly know who the kidnapper may be. He's going to get his little girl back no matter what he has to do.
An interesting, thrilling quick read. Baby Hazel is missing and time is passing. Her father, ex-criminal and car wash owner, Marty Lorrini takes it upon himself to find the child. The police think that Marty's 10-years ago past might have something to do with. Marty is not convinced so he calls upon his past to attempt to get to the bottom of the crime. His attempts are thuggish because that's what he knew. The tale ends with a fairly obvious perpetrator and an unrealistic way out of a problem. This is a decent read but not a great story line.
Got into it....was grabbed by the collar in it... Then BAM!!!!! I want to know more!! MORE!! Darn it!! Story is a grabber, but by golly it didn't end like I thought it would.. So Ted, is there a second back door story to come? That will tell us what happens.... This guy. This Ted.. He's a keeper in my authors list!! Good job getting the heart pounding, the blood rushing in the head and the questions not answered. The want for more....P/
I truly enjoyed this short story. I really was sorry it ended. I would have liked to see how it turned out with Marty and Leandro. I loved the way the story unfolded and couldn't wait to see what happened. I literally did not want to put the book down . Ted Galdi is an excellent writer. I've loved everything of his that I've read so far. Keep on writing buddy.
Another pretty decent short story, from Ted Galdi, that uses a little trickier, although he didn't hide the fact that the Mother-In-Law had to be involved with Hazel missing and they should have just killed the latino drug dealer.
I thank the author who has written a second thought provoking story about families, status within the family unit and social status standing within the community, and the wider society, within all types of organizations.
Hazel is Missing is a short story by Ted Galdi, the master of the suspense novel. His work as a short story author is no less masterful. Hazel is Missing is a story about the infant daughter of an ex-con that goes missing while being watched by his wife’s mother. The police have little to go on and hold little hope in finding her, so the father conducts his own investigation. He suspects the boyfriend of the young woman who worked for them as a housekeeper while the wife was carrying their daughter. By calling upon his old criminal associates, he tracks the boyfriend down in a matter of hours and… well, you must read the story to find out what really happened to Hazel. I think the ending will surprise you as much as it did me.
Mr. Galdi writes a chilling short story that grips the reader from beginning to end. In the process, teaches the reader a lesson in jumping to conclusions based on one's background and history.
Marvelously told with lightening speed, the author's writing grabs the reader by the hand and never lets go. Contained in these few pages is a truly thrilling adventure guaranteed to have you speedily zeroing in on the conclusion. Excellent tale!!
Enjoyed this nonstop action thriller short story. Only gave 4 stars due to the f bombs. A baby is kidnapped and the story is all about finding her. Recommend reading this author.
Meh. I didn’t find this quick thriller all that thrilling. I thought the ending was kind of a letdown. I’m not quite understanding all the rave reviews. It just didn’t do much for me. At least I got it over with fast. Definitely a short, short story.
