"They can't have you. You're mine."

A cyborg whose faith was destroyed by the military.
An exiled girl searching for a place she can be herself.

Enver dedicated his life and body to the Trans Atlantic war, but when the battle ended, he was left to navigate Cyn City alone and haunted. He's made a life for himself as a medic for Cyborgs hurt on the Deluge and in the underground cyborg cage fights at the Ball & Joint. It's a lonely but useful existence until the maddening Imogen moves in, determined to break every rule.

Love got Imogen banished from her home. Her relationship with a local boy went against the Ecovangalit laws of arranged marriage and now she's landed in Cyn City living at a makeshift hospital for cyborgs and working as a nurse. The shining light of her days is tinkering with the machines she collects from the abandoned buildings in the deadlands. She has an uncanny ability to understand the intricate cybernetics of the patients in the ward. Why call a cynker when she can fix them herself? Little does she know the trouble she will cause.

Imogen spends most of a month with the enigmatic cyborg medic Enver who runs the Ward. But his erratic personality and hot and cold treatment leaves her with nothing but questions. When Imogen runs into the love she thought she'd lost forever, is her connection with Enver enough to keep her in Cyn City?

And can Enver open his heart and let himself feel ever again?

After reading and enjoying Pearl Foxx’s Shifters of Kladuu series, I was more than willing to dive into the Cyn City Cyborgs for more of the things I had come to enjoy so much from the author. Although I did enjoy the first book in the series, Chance, I did not love it quite as much as I enjoyed the Shifters of Kladuu books. I had high hopes for book two, but if I’m honest Enver failed to blow my mind in the way I had hoped.

Enver was another enjoyable read from Pearl Foxx, but I feel as though this one was more of a three-point-five-star rating, which failed to grab me in the way my other Pearl Foxx reads have. It kept my attention, sure. It had enjoyable moments, I admit. Yet it was missing that something extra that ensures I am blown away by a book.

I think my biggest issue is that I still have so many questions about the world. We did learn more about it in this one, but it is not as formed in my mind as I would like it to be. I have too many questions, and I feel as though this is preventing me from being sucked in deep. Add in the fact so much happened throughout this one, and I really would have liked that little bit more understanding so I could really appreciate the events.

Although I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I had hoped, I am eager for book three. My fingers are crossed the third book takes us back to what I love so much about this author.

WOW is this book hot.

I love Pearl's books for many reasons, one of them being the unique spin she puts on conventional romance novel topics, in this case cyborgs. The guys in this series aren't robots, but rather humans who have various artificial appendages (no, not the one you're thinking. Lol!)

This leaves a brilliant opening for heart-wrenching backstories about how these guys came to lose parts of themselves ad gain the metal pieces and cyborg-stigma they carry around with them every day.

Another thing I love about Pearl's books, this one especially, is her heroines aren't 100% "G.I. Jane, I don't need a man in my life, I can do it all by myself, don't you dare try to help me" women. Rather, they are strong when they need to be and ask for help and seek comfort from their men when they need it...just like we all do!

Enver and Imogen had a very opposite-ends-of-the-spectrum balance to their relationship. They both cam into it very much damaged, but I really enjoyed reading how they ended up meeting somewhere in the middle.

Speaking of sexy love scenes, this book has it in spades. Sprinkled throughout in just the right places, the "physical interactions" between Enver and Imogen were used as a tool to show and solidify the deep deep love they had for each other.

This book is LOADED with action and suspense, and I was GLUED to it, especially the final conflict involving Imogen and a blast from her past.

Pearl is one of my top authors. I don't even read synopses, they're all automatic "YES I'll read it!" books! I can't wait for more, both in this series and whatever direction she takes her next series!

(I was given a copy of this book in consideration of my honest thoughts)

This book continues where Book 1 left off, with the focus now on Enver, the cyborgs’ medic and on Imogen, a former cult member who ran away from the Elders’ unimaginable cruelty. Imogen helped as Enver’s nurse at the Ward, a make-shift hospital where Enver cared for injured cyborg patients. She found that she had a natural talent for working with machinery she scavenged on her excursions into the dead lands where the Ward was located. She also discovered she had an affinity for understanding the patients' cybernetics as she worked on a man in terrible pain and fixed all of the issues, even adding slight improvements where she could. This added an invaluable skill for the Ward since it could take some time to get a cynker to come out to the dead lands to do the repair for the serious injuries.

As Imogen works with Enver who resists any emotion, treating her with indifference and even disdain, she doesn't know what to think about him. He really lost many social skills over the years of being alone! But when the boy she once loved and thought was dead comes back to take her to the Elders as a breeder, will she be taken back to the Compound? Or will Enver realize she is worth fighting for to build a new life together?

This is an excellent book that once again pulls the reader into the story to care about these characters. I love the fact that despite the squalor and devastation of their world, there is a kindness and goodness inside them that hints of hope. Enver and Imogen, both damaged individuals, devote themselves to caring for others and bringing a little peace into the lives of the people who live in this desolate area.

Forced to run from a controlling cult when the Elders aborted her baby, Imogen did not have a strong, forceful personality in the beginning. But working as Enver’s nurse, she gained strength and confidence in herself. Enver himself did not want emotion in his life, preferring to be isolated from others. Yet his care of the injured cyborgs and his friendship with Mason and Chance (Book 1) showed the reader that he felt much more than he allowed to show. Can these two damaged souls heal each other and learn to trust? Can Imogen stay in this difficult place and find a new love with Enver? This book is so wonderful – don’t miss reading it! It is one of those special books that will touch your heart.

Wow what a fantastic read by Pearl Foxx and another hit with Enver, I love the Cyn City Cyborgs series and this is book 2. Enver is the cyborg medic and he cares for the cyborg patients. Imogen is Enver’s nurse and she has a fascination with cybernetics and she’s very good at what she does. Imogen is on the run from a cult that she was a part of but now she has found a home in the Dead Lands working for Enver. Imogen and Enver have had bad things happen to them in their past so it takes them a bit of time for them to trust each other in any kind of relationship but when they do wow it’s ultra hot between the both of them. I loved this story the sex scenes were hot but it doesn’t over crowd the story which I’m glad about because it’s a great story. A 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read, I loved this story and I know you will too.

Enver and Imogen

This KU library selection is the second book in the Cyn City Cyborgs series. Although the books can standalone, it's best for context to start with book one. Though I have to say I liked this book better than book one. It takes place in the no man's land between Cyn City and the desert, a place teeming with salvagers, and worse. But it's the place Enver has chosen for The Ward, where the former military medic cyborg treats cyborgs who have been damaged in the underground fights or working on The Deluge, the wall holding back the ocean. As a favor to Chance (book one), he has taken in a young woman running from a dangerous cult, the ecovangelists. But Imogen surprises him at every turn. And the hardened warrior with scars and secrets finds he's thinking of himself as a protector for the first time in a long time. This book gets 4.5 stars.

I very much enjoyed this tale of Enver and Imogen. Both broken beings brought together by their need to care for others, rather than themselves. It's heartbreaking what they both went through prior to meeting. This is probably why they were attracted to each other in the first place. They saw a similar hurting soul hiding behind their masks.

Great storytelling, fabulous action-packed plot, and the lovemaking scenes are singe-worthy, but appropriate.

Looking forward to the next book after that cracking ending!

I received an eARC which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

When Imogen ran away from the life being pressed on her when and the man she loved as well as the precious life they had created together was killed by the Elders she found herself at the Ward helping Enver take care of cyborg patients. While Enver prefered to not live with emotion, he loved running the ward, but he didn't want to get closer to anyone, Imogen changed that. She brought life back into his world, and he helped her heal her heart and become a stronger version of herself. When her past resurfaces and tries to make her return Enver has to save her or loose her forever.
I have read and reviewed this as a voluntary ARC.

(KU Borrow) Better than Chance!

I really enjoyed the first book in the Cyn City Cyborg series, but I found that Enver's and Imogen's story more compelling. I'm not sure exactly why that is. I know that I LOVED her rooftop garden-maybe that's the gardener in me. Anyway, I had hoped to see that Imogen would be blessed with that which was taken from her by the elders. Maybe I'm a serious romantic, or I just like babies. But that would have been cool. Oh, I would have liked to see more come from her work with the cyborgs. Did she become licensed as a Cynker? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book, and I borrowed it through the Kindle Unlimited program too.

I HAVE A QUESTION...DOES THE MMC BEING A CYBORG MEANS HE'S STERILE? Cause the amount of raw fucking they did just begs to question why the heroine never got pregnant LOL! The beauty of fictional logic.

That aside, I enjoyed this quickie read very much. It had a grumpy cyborg, a bright heroine and the unrealistic but gooey romance between them. It would have kicked-ass had the plot been better drawn out and some dramatic angst thrown in for the mix.

Otherwise, if you're a fan of authors like Honey Phillips or Evangeline Anderson, this one might just be up your alley.

Side note, I think the author's given up on Book 3. It's 2024, and this book was published in 2018.

The second book was just as good as the first one. This time it is Enver and Imogen's story and was a great read. It was great to learn about Enver's past and to watch Imogen come into her own, a wild difference from the end of Book 1. I loved the story and this crazy wild world that just gets better every time I read more about it. Once I started reading I was hooked and read it in one sitting it was so good in my opinion. Even thought there was some hot sexy parts there was still a good story and it did not feel like the sex was the diving force.

Omg so freaking good!

This is my new favorite series. I love the way the cyborgs are written. They are the perfect mixture of man and machine. Chance's story was great.but Enver's story was fabulous!!!😍😍😍 the character development was well done and the work building just keeps getting . Imogen and Enver were two broken lost souls that found and healed each other when no one else could. This story was emotional, action packed and a look satisfying I can't wait for Mason's story.

I received an advanced copy in exchange for a honest review. I enjoyed Enver's and Imogen's story. You get to know what happened to Enver and what made him the way he is. Imogen's finds she has the ability to fix cyborgs and makes the cynkers mad. The story keeps you interested and it has a good plot. Cannot wait for the next cyborg instalment.

A great scifi romance. An ex-military cyborg is falling for the girl helping him run his clinic. A steamy connection starts to build between them and Enver is learning to allow himself forgiveness and move on with a real life. When. Imogen's past comes back to steal her away from her new love, Enver's own past may hold the answer to getting her back.

As the second book in the Cyn City Cyborg's series, Pearl Foxx's storytelling is breathtaking. Enver and Imogene were wonderful together and by the end of the book I was thrilled and delighted with the HEA ... and now the wait for book 3.

Aww this one was sweet. Enver just made my heart break. Imogene is Veritys friend who also escaped the ecoevangelist cult camp. Imogene brings life back to Enver. But she can't escape her past. I see that Mason is next but I really wanted Hollywoods story. I enjoyed it.

I picked up this book after reading Chance. I love this author's writing. The world that our characters live in a harsh, unforgiving world. You are caught up in the storyline and cannot put the book down. I enjoyed this book immensely.

This is the story of Enver and Imogen. He is a cyborg menging broken cyborgs. She is on the run from ecovangelists. They had done unspeakable things to her. Was she safe with this battle-hardened veteran. Great story and really enjoyed it. Great addition to this series.

A great read but many offputting typo errors

I really enjoyed this story but the author needs to proof it properly. The previous book was the same. A different take on cyborgs
