Jock Hard #0.5

Switch Hitter

Rate this book
I knew something was wrong the second she walked in the door tonight; I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was.

Same hair color.
Same legs.
Same face.

Except…I look harder.
At the small dimple beneath her lip that wasn’t there the last time we went out. And her laugh—that laugh isn’t as loud.

This isn’t the girl I’ve gone out with the past few weeks.
It’s her twin sister, and they’ve switched places on me.

Only I’m not quite ready to let them switch back.

Short, cute, and ohmigod I want more

We’re introduced to Amelia, posing as her twin Lucy. She’s filling in for Lucy on a date with Dash, a star college baseball player. A guy so opposite of what Amelia goes for, so how easy will it be to pull off a fake date with your identical twins guy, or one of her many guys, while your sister is off on another date...

Dash, doesn’t usually go for the player girls like Lucy, but hey a quick score may be just what he needs, right... that is until he notices how off Lucy seems.

This story was quick, easy to follow, and it was sweet. I liked it, enjoyed it even, but dang, I want some more. I felt it ended abruptly, don’t get me wrong, it ended good, but the romance lover in me, wants more, needs more ❤️

Switch Hitter is a short novella with a sweet and adorable hero and a quirky heroine. The twin swap plot is what got my attention and I thought it was very well written, it didn't come off as too dramatic and instead had just enough angst to keep me intrigued while still keeping the story pretty light.

I actually didn't realize that this was the novella from the Team Player anthology (my own stupid fault) so the ending seemed very abrupt to me and left me a little confused. I don't think anyone else will have that issue though if they aren't dumb-dumb's like me.

Know what I’m going to do?”
“What?”
“I’m going to date the shit out of you.”

This was such a cute and satisfying novella that I devoured in one smile filled reading.

The classic twin switch tale gets a Sara Ney twist. When her twin double books herself for a date, who better to step into her shoes than her twin, Amelia. Lucy is the fun loving free spirit and Amelia is the serious one of the two. So when Amelia attends a date with the sexy Dante who immediately begins to note the differences between the girls even though it's only their third date, that's just one of the few problems she faces. The other? She's insanely attracted to the guy that thinks he's out with her twin sister.

Dante is the furthest thing from a douchebag. He's sweet, attentive, and doesn't believe in serial dating. And while this was a quickie novella, it was still fully satisfying. It was the perfect story to launch a brand new baseball series from one of my favorite authors and I already can't wait for the first book! If you're looking for a fun and easy afternoon read, you can't go wrong with this one!

Saw this was releasing on its own, so I went back and read this in my copy of the Team Player anthology.

This was a good twin swap read. Twin sister Lucy & Amelia swap for one night when Lucy has double booked herself on dates. Heaven forbid she cancels one. Yeah that’s what Amelia said too. No bone though.

Anyway Amelia reluctantly agrees to go out with Dash, but ends up really liking him. You’ll have to read it to find out what else happens. It’s yummy. This story was cute and fun. In one scene I could FEEL the goosebumps on my skin because of the tension between the eventual love interests. So flipping good!

I took a star away because there were a few noticeable dialogue inconsistencies. These may be fixed in the solo release, and I normally wouldn’t mention them but they stood out.
I’m going to also mention that the hero has kissed/dated the other sister off page. This does NOT bother me at all, because of how the characters handle it, but I’m listing it because I know some people lose their minds over that stuff.

It's the baseball player trap...

I know it's kind of deceitful and wrong but I kind of love stories when twins switch places. This was a cute story that did the switcheroo genre justice. There's a good twin and a naughty twin, a hero too smart and a connection that meant it was easier to forgive the tricksters.

Switch Hitter was short but sweet and I enjoyed it. The characters were interesting, the storyline moved well and the sizzling tension jumped off the pages. Definitely worth the $1.00.

I really liked the introduction story to the new series by Sara Ney. I totally rammed my way through her "How to date a douchebag" series in a matter of days so I was excited about this new series.

Amelia is a great girl, I would describe her as a "real" girl next door, she's simple, honest, loyal, wants to do something meaningful with her life and she can't get any more perfect apart from the fact that she has a twin sister who is the exact opposite of her. Amelia always puts her sister above all else and that has led her into some very dangerous paths in the past. The sister is the kind of woman that makes me ashamed to call myself one and always gets away with her schemes, cheating and manipulations by calling Amelia to save face. Being identical twins sure helps a lot but I can't forgive Amelia for always stepping in to help her sister who is a total...

and believe me I'm opposed to name-calling people, but in this case it is totally justified.

It is in such an occasion that Amelia meets Dash, posing as her sister so the later can go on a date with a different guy.

I loved Dash, he is the kind of guy you can introduce to your parents and never feel awkward about it. He is honest, has principals, he's searching for someone to date not just to spend a few nights with, and that in my book counts a lot.

It was so much fun to watch them together, both trying to get a hold of the image they had in their mind of the other and feeling something is off. For a short story it sure had enough angst and tension, and I really liked how when the masks were finally off, there was no misunderstandings or miscommunication between them. Only the bare truth of themselves and their feelings.

Had fun with this one and the whole twin switch deal.

It was a quick, easy listen (2 hours and 29 minutes) and I enjoyed the performances of Erin Mallon and Jacob Morgan as Amelia (aka 'Lucy'... ahem...) and Dante.

And that's all I'm gonna say about that... *grin*)

Loved this one as well. This is the novella that introduces the Jock Hard series. Is a spin on the old twin switcheroo. Dante was so sexy with his Latino swagger and Amelia was also super cute. It's a shame it was so short. I want more of this couple!

This is a super fast read. And the audiobook is perfection narrated by Erin Mallon and my favorite Jacob Morgan/Zachary Webber! <3

This was a fun and sexy little start to Ney's new college themed series.

In Switch Hitter twins Lucy and Amelia trade places when Lucy frivolously double books herself on one too many Friday night dates. As a solution, instead on simply cancelling one of the dates like a normal person, Lucy chooses to beg her more sensible and less flighty twin sister Amelia to pretend to be her for the night on a date with college baseball star Dante.

Although the old twin switcheroo has worked for the girls in the past, this time Amelia finds herself in a bit of a spot when she realises she might just like sweet and sexy jock Dante and that he might just be the one to see straight through their ruse.

I think this story caught me in the right frame of mind. At any other time I could imagine myself getting really frustrated and maybe even angered by the silly twin-switch antics, especially considering my dislike of deceit in my romance stories. Luckily, I was in a very laid-back mood today and didn't think too heavily on the issues within this story that would normally vex me.

Generally, I enjoyed this short introduction to the characters on jock row and I look forward to continuing with the bigger series.

Luvd this so much.

This book is so funny I luvd it. If this is what I have to look forward to with twin girls God help me haha. This story is just great. I luvd how different Lucy and Amelia are. They are like chalk and cheese. I do like that Lucy can push Amelia out of her comfort zone even though Amelia tries so hard to say no it doesn't work. They are great sisters and I luv the relationship they have.

Dante is hot like really hot. What makes him even better is that he isn't your normal baseball player. He respects women he doesn't want to just hook up with any woman he want to try and find the one. I think he just so cute. I need more of this man he is amazing.

This story is cute and funny with a very hot men thrown into it. I a huge fan of this author and I 've enjoyed everything that I 've read. I would really enjoy more from Dante and Amelia they are just made for each other. The whole switcharoo thing is just great and was a brilliant storyline. I would highly recommend this. Switch Hitter is part of Team Player anthology.

"For real. We had zero chemistry," she rambles on. "Like, none."

Just like the two main characters.

Lucy has double booked herself on Friday night. She was supposed to go clubbing with Hudson but forgot that she had already made plans with Dash. So what does she do? Cancel on one of them and apologize like a decent human being? No. She asks her twin sister, Amelia, to go on the date for her and act as her. Easy right? Well, it was, until Amelia starts developing feelings for Dash.

This book was a mess. I really did not like the writing. I felt like the author told the readers what happened instead of showing us. I really disliked the characters. Lucy was a walking stereotype of what a sorority girl was. The author didn't put any effort of giving her substance. Amelia was a Mary Sue character and it annoyed me a lot. Also, I did not feel any chemistry between Amelia and Dash. They just fell flat. Overall, I'm glad I read this first before I started Jock Row because I know now to lower my expectations.

Switch Hitter was originally included in Team Player: A Sports Romance Anthology.

I’m giving a virtual high five to Sara Ney for this adorkable rom-com novella. Ever since The Parent Trap, I’ve had a soft spot for twin switcheroo stories.

Lucy and Amelia couldn’t be more different, and that’s part of what makes this story work so well. As a favor, “boring” (read: quiet and caring) Amelia agrees to pretend to be her vivacious (read: slutty and self-centered) sister, Lucy, while on a date with Lucy’s boyfriend, Dante. Following me so far? Why does Lucy want her sister to date a guy she’s interested in sleeping with? You’ll just have to read the story to find out.

I loved Dante so much. He’s a real gentleman and super observant. The buildup of his relationship between Amelia (as Lucy?) is quirky in the most fun way. Dante is a baseball player, and although this is a sports romance, not one single game is played. The sport still manages to play an important part of the story.

My main issue is that I couldn’t find any redeemable qualities in Lucy. She’s unbelievably shallow and callous. For the life of me, I didn’t understand Amelia’s devotion to her sister. Her reluctance to jump Dante’s bones feels unnecessary. At any rate, all’s well that ends well in this light read.

Oh my! This was SO DAMN CUTE! Amelia and Dash are the perfect couple to start off a brand new series from the AMAZING Sara Ney! I would follow this woman anywhere. Her writing is so smart, witty, charming, and hilarious. I couldn’t get enough!

SWITCH HITTER is a FUN, feel good romance that was included in the Team Player Anthology a while back. NOW, stands on its own with a HOT new cover! It’s even better the second go-round, folks! This short and sweet sports romance had me smiling, laughing, and all together charmed! I could read it over and over again!

This is a really quick, cute read. A fun and flirty romance that is no-nonsense, low-angst, sweet and sexy. Originally published in the Team Player Anthology , it’s now available for purchase as a standalone, leading in to Sara Ney’s upcoming Jock Hard series, and I really enjoyed it.

Amelia and Lucy are twins. Almost identical in looks, they couldn’t be more different, with Amelia the shy, quieter, more studious of the two, and Lucy the wild, fun-loving party girl. When Lucy double-books herself for dates on the same night, she isn’t prepared to fully ditch either of the guys so she convinces Amelia to step in for her on her date with baseball catcher, Dante. Though hesitant, Amelia is no stranger to stepping in for her sister, so she agrees. But she didn’t expect to feel something for the gorgeous jock who is so much more of a nice guy than she was anticipating.

Dante didn’t think much of Lucy the first couple of times they met, but their most recent date has him changing his mind. She’s smart, fun, and not as flighty as he originally thought, and he finds himself drawn to her in a way he hasn’t felt before.

“Hey Lucy?”
“Hmmm?”
“I’m going to date the shit out of you.”

It’s a tricky sense of mistaken identity, with Amelia and Dante longing for each other, but with this huge big secret between them. And while it could have been a big angsty mess, instead it is lots of fun, with a great sense of anticipation just waiting for all to be revealed and I loved watching it all story unfold.

The chemistry between Amelia and Dante is electric from the start, and I could empathise with Amelia’s situation as she tried so hard to do the right thing but found herself completely swept up in her emotions. And I loved watching Dante trying to figure it all out. He knows something is going on, and watching him sorting it all out is really entertaining.

It all plays out functionally, with lots of sweet, fun and sexy moment, and I really enjoyed this one.

3.5 stars.

That was such a quick, fun and adorable read! I wasn’t able to read this when it was originally included in the Team Player Anthology, but I’m so glad I had the chance to before the first book in the Jock Hard series released. Switch Hitter is definitely the perfect introduction to Sara Ney’s upcoming series that I’m pretty sure will also make us swoon to no end, get our panties in a twist, and drive us nuts and wild, just as much as her Douchebag series did, if not more.

“I’m going to date the shit out of you.”

To be honest, I was a little iffy with the idea of the switch that the twins did on Dash. It just didn’t sit right with me—especially with the dating angle of it—even though I know it’s common and that it happens pretty often when it comes to identical twins. From the outside, you wouldn’t be able to tell these twins apart. But from the inside? Lucy and Amelia couldn’t be more opposite than night and day. Their mannerisms... their personalities... the way they think... everything about them was just different and so far from each other. It set them apart so much that it made me appreciate the little things that Dash instantly liked about Amelia even more. She was just that likable.

“Lucy said I’m your unicorn.”
“She did?”
“Yup. I’m a motherfucking unicorn.”

And then there’s Dante “Dash” Amado. He came into the picture and just absolutely stole the show. This sweet, kindhearted man made me swoon so hard that I somehow forgot my issue with the twins switching places. Because this guy’s just not your typical cocky, asshole of a jock who's a skirt chaser. Nope. He was far, far from it. Dash will bring you to your knees, melt you into a puddle of goo when he whispers to you in Spanish and make your heart flutter with his absolute gentlemanly ways. He was just... good in every angle you look at.

I had so much fun reading this novella. I only hope that we get more of Dash and Amelia because now I’m quite invested with their fast-blooming relationship. If you’re up for a short, yet very entertaining read with the quips and humor that only Sara Ney could deliver, read this one.

Quick, sexy and fun, my first book by Sara Ney and it won't be my last. It could've been longer and sure it was a little insta-everything, but despite all this I still thoroughly enjoyed it!

Plus, all that Spanish had me fanning myself multiple times. I kinda want a Dante of my own. 🤤

***3,5 "Mi cielo-My heaven!!!" stars***

Well, this was a very enjoyable reading, even though that it was a very short story...
I liked the characters very much, nope scratch that, i liked Lucy but not too much, but Dante and Amelia were great... Especially Amelia!!!
Dante seemed a little bit flat for me, even though that i liked mostly of his character...

Well, Dante had a date with Lucy...
Lucy was a perplexed character, a little bit swallow i can say and she was like dating... a lot... with many guys... and that was the reason why she sent her twin in this date with Dante...

Amelia didn't want to play along with this 'date' that her sister was forcing her to take a part...
But she went and that was her downfall...
Did I mention that Amelia was almost identical with Lucy from outside, but inside they were like day and night???
Yep, and that was really a problem, especially when a man like Dante was watching really close and could see the small differences...
So what will happen with those two??? Or three???

“I’m going to date the shit out of you.”

As I said in the beginning, it was a very enjoyable reading... It had a fast pace and the heroes were very interesting...
I just felt that the things were moving really fast... Yep, I know, it was just a novel, but still...
And at the end, Amelia felt different... The way she was acting wasn't fitting in her character, i think!!!
And these were the reasons why i put only 3.5 stars, even though i did enjoy it!!!

Sometimes you crave a read that you can easily inhale in one sitting. A romance that cuts to the chase and hits the ‘fast forward’ button. For a short story, Switch Hitter by Sara Ney packs a punch. I was CONSUMED with this romance!

Dash and Amelia are adorable together. Holy Latin GOD! I could do nothing but swoon from the baseball hero who’s as huge-hearted as he is hot. The hero and heroines’ delicious sexual tension kept me glued to the pages. Switch Hitter hums with anticipation—SO ADDICTING!

A fresh, fun, and feel-good romance full of delicious angst, Switch Hitter hits a HOME RUN. Sara Ney has left me with an itch that can only be scratched with more Switch Hitter. There weren’t enough innings in this quick adventure. I NEED more of this book buzz NOW!!! Muy caliente!

This is very short and very cute. The cover copy is perfectly adequate to give you all you need to know so I'll stick with "it was worth the time and money" and that it delivered on its promise. The only dragging this to four stars is that the secret drags on a bit. Amelia knows her twin isn't into him and she really wants to get to know him better so persisting with the deception didn't really make sense. She's supposedly smart, so I thought it odd that she didn't abandon the "plot" sooner.

A note about Steamy: There's a single explicit sex scene which, for a story this short, puts it in the middle of my steam tolerance.

Switch Hitter by Sara Ney was your fast paced feel good novella. It was fun, cute, and adorably sweet. Ney introduces readers to Lucy and Amelia, who are identical twins and so when Lucy asked Amelia to pretend to be her on a date, Amelia reluctantly agrees. What Amelia never expected was Dash to be a total gentleman and sweet guy. He wasn’t your stereotypical jock at all. So what happens when Amelia begins to like Dash but he thinks she is Lucy? And what happens when Dash discovers the switch?

#SwitchHitter

As always Sara Ney treats her readers to a fun and sweet romance that will have us begging for more of her books. So what are you waiting for, and go read Switch Hitter as it was a great introduction to Jock Hard Series.

Spoilers ahead

This was a novella about Amelia and Dash. When Amelia's twin sister double books herself on dates she asks her twin to go in her place to meet Dash. Amelia ends up liking him but walks away at the end. When her twin asks her to meet Dash to break up with him she once again goes along with it though she doesn't want to She's stunned to see Dash after she'd supposedly broken up with him. By then Dash had figured out the secret and called her on her shit. They make up, like each other yadda yadda abrupt end. I expected to see them in the next book but there was only a brief appearance. I'm not a fan of abrupt endings so it pissed me off making what was for me a mediocre read so much worst.

Both non virgins, though Dash didn't seem to be a manwhore
The Spanish speaking felt awkward as hell
No OM drama
OW drama in that the H dated and made out with the h's sister. He didn't like her and only went on another date with her because she had asked him. Nevertheless nobody seemed bothered by this but the twins switching men shit is just not my cuppa. Thankfully he hadn't had sex with the sister so that saved the situation somewhat.

Twins. One super outgoing. One super sweet. They decide to do the whole switcheroo on Baseball player Dash and find out he likes the "not supposed to be there" twin more. This was an adorable little story. I kinda wished it was a full length novel because I fell in love with all three characters.

A fab little treat between meals.

Earlier this year I binged on Sara Ney. I loved the humour, the wit, the chemistry and the smut but once I'd read them all I struggled to get all of that from anyone else. This is a novella, complete story and an intro to a new series. For me it was a reminder of what I've been craving. I'm so ready for her new series, I'll be stalking her feeds ready to jump on that.

Just the thing if you're in the mood for witty, warm feels and hot smut.
