Knot Duet #1

Twisted Desire

Rate this book
He's a one-woman man, and she's the one woman he can't resist. Begin this intense story, spanning years of lust, friendship, love, and heartache.

I wasn’t looking for Nora Koehl, and she sure as hell wasn’t looking for me. We were two people speeding in opposite directions. Our relationship was born out of lust, curiosity, and compromises neither of us intended to keep.
Being with one person wasn’t Nora’s style, and I refused to share her.
Then everything changed, and together we bent every rule we’d ever made… until they broke. Our need for each other led us to the lies we told. Mistakes we made.
We’re tangled and twisted—bound by our desire—but anything less than all of Nora will never be enough. Now this knot in my stomach only gets tighter, wondering if I can accept and love her for who she is.
Will it even be enough for her to love me back?

TWISTED DESIRE is the first book in the Knot Duet. TETHERED LOVE, the conclusion to Reagan and Nora's story, releases in a few short weeks.

I cannot even begin to describe this duet. It’s unlike any kind of passionate love story I’ve ever read. This book was previously released by the title of Knot and MMabie decided to split it into a duet. Which I absolutely love. I forgot how addictive this story is.

The story starts out with Reagan attending his sisters wedding and he gets a text from Nora letting him know she’s in the lobby and needs his room number. You find out very quickly that these two have a sordid past. They both have hurt one another in there own ways. It’s always his way or her way, there are no other options. It’s taken them 2 years of back and forth, and heart break to get to this point.

And it’s not pretty. It’s painful. But oh so real.

There is a past to present understanding in this story. And the past is so unbelievably important to understand why Nora is the way she is. Reagan has loved her from the very get go, but Nora has put up road blocks along the way. You’ll understand more once you begin the journey.

I love. Love. Love. This story.

There are not enough words. The writing is MO at her best. Best. Best. The dialogue, the characters, the depth. You feel every single emotion. The passion is at an explosive high. I cannot even touch how badly these words set a fire to my every walking emotion.

This is such an unbelievably, must read duet.

Read this story. Right now.

“I want to show you how good we could be together. I want you to beg me not to stop. I want you to teeter against insanity with my every touch.”

I liked the premise of it but it didn't really grab or hold my attention. I didn't feel anything for the main characters. It was a very meh read to me.

Having already read Knot a couple of years back, I was happy to revisit Nora and Reggie as their story was now being re-released with new titles and as a duet. And I am here to say that it was an extreme pleasure getting to be with them again.

Holy smokes, Mo Mabie brings her A-game with this story full of lust and desire. Nora and Reggie are like magnets who can't help but repel each other as their norths stay aligned. And yet just by the flick of the wrist, those same magnets could line up and be perfectly compatible. These two have such want for each other but can't seem to find the way to quench that need without losing a part of themselves. Told in both present and past POV's, the playful yet frustrating beginning for Nora and Reggie is perfectly juxtaposed with the hurtful and exhausted end that is so seemingly near.

I loved that the author didn't hesitate to portray a woman who could be polyamorous as perhaps a way to stay unattached to just one person and not risk losing her heart in the process. And yet Nora can't resist the alpha in Reggie and his need for control. They wage a dangerous battle and as book one comes to a close, we are left with wondering if they could indeed exist in each other's worlds or would a last minute attempt be all for naught.

The Knot duet is vastly different from so many formulaic romance books out there today. With each turn of the page, the angst is there for the taking and you can't help but be on edge from beginning to end. It's never an easy journey but it's one filled with true emotion and longing. Not to mention the tension is so damn sexy, you need a fan to cool down.

Twisted Desire is a must read and I happily give it a huge 5 stars!!

I read this book years ago when it was first released as Knot. This book is now being re-released now as a duet. This is a duet that you do not want to miss. Reagan is a super control freak, definitely an alpha male type. He has a lot of anxiety and panic attacks which seem to rule his life. He meets Nora and feels this immediate connection and chemistry with her. I mean, it literally is super intense between them. There is a belief with Nora that she is poly and she must be in a poly relationship. Reagan and Nora have lots of ups and downs in their relationship during the length of book 1. As book 1 comes to an end, I was glued from start to finish, dying to find out what happened with them. Is Reagan able to let go of his past and is Nora about to be in a non poly relationship. Oh the feels and angst and passion in this book is large. I didn’t want the book to end but sadly it ended and I was groaning in despair. I look forward to rereading book 2 and reliving all my feelings for book 2 because if its anything like book 1, we are in for an adventurous ride.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

I read this book years ago when it was first released as Knot.

Although I had read and rated it, i had not left a review. After doing a reread of the 1st half of this book now released as a duet, I remember why I enjoyed it so much.

Reagan (aka Reggie) is a control freak, not just in a alpha type, but in his every day life. Anxiety and panic attacks due to not have control are his downfall. Nora, believed she is a certain way because that is how she has protected herself. Between her beliefs of being poly and his need for control, they are in for a long road of heartbreak.

Book one ends on the them coming full circle between the past and present, needing to make a decision if she can be in an non poly relationship and can he finally let go of their past to move forward.

I look forward to rereading book 2 and am thinking of re-reading Blakes (Reagan sister) Wake Series ( wake/sail/anchor). I do hope the author will continue the wake family series as it has been books i have been looking forward to reading

Twisted Desire is book one in the Knot Duet. I hadn’t read this when it was previously published as Knot so I was excited to read it now.

This is Reagan and Nora’s story. Reagan suffers from anxiety and also has a need to control all aspects of his life. He wants a relationship with Nora however Nora doesn’t want a relationship with only one person. I wanted to shake these characters or bang their heads together to sort themselves out. Although I wasn’t keen on the characters at the start they certainly grew on me as I kept on reading.

I’m looking forward to reading book two Tethered Love soon.

Reagan Warren and Nora Koehl are hands down two of my favorite literary characters ever. I would even go so far as to say they are two of my favorite people ever because those two are as real to me as anything. To say I love them is not doing my affection for them both justice. My love for those two is fierce. My love for them is unending. My love for them is permanent.

I have loved Reggie and Nora since I met them in Bait all those years ago, and I needed their story in my life like I needed my next breath. Seriously. I have been enthralled and intrigued by those two since the start, and getting their story was one of the best things ever.

I first read their story in Knot a couple of years back, and getting to revisit them as I reread the first part of their story in Twisted Desire felt like coming home again…you know if that home was the most gloriously filled angst fest ever. Twisted Desire is the first part of the breathtakingly emotional and heart rendering story that will take you for one helluva ride for these two, as the one woman man starts to fall for the one woman he can’t quite catch. Their story spans years, locations, time zones, and it exemplifies every lick of what these two share together.

It might be messy, it might be raw, and it might be a roller coaster ride of emotions, heartbreak, and sensuous fire, but let me tell you that ride is worth every second because what you get with these two is unforgettable.

Twisted Desire is a book that you feel, a book that you breathe and take in every word of, and a book that you experience every single second of right along with its dynamic characters. This is a book that will have you within its pages, experiencing every moment of its phenomenal, viscerally emotional, and pulse racing story, as you invest yourself in every way possible in what it’s giving you.

If you think you’ve experienced angst, wait until you read Twisted Desire (and the rest of Reggie & Nora’s story in Tethered Love) and want to equally throw your e-reader across the room, scream at the top of your lungs in adamant love and frustration, all while simultaneously wanting to hug the book closer to you, as if that will somehow get you closer to these characters and all their feels.

If you think you’ve experienced an undeniably heated and emotional connection between two characters, wait until you read this story and get your hands on Reggie and Nora and all that they will give you. Wait until they make you cry or laugh or melt or swoon or break into a million pieces, and then break those broken pieces of your heart even more. Just. You. Wait. You have never felt a book as much as you will with this one. Trust me on that one.

If you think you’ve experienced a love between two characters that’s worth fighting for, a love worth giving everything to, and a love worth investing everything in, wait until you read this book and are thrown right into the thick of it with these two. That love and fire and connection you get with them will make you and break you and pull at every emotion you didn’t even know you had, just as it does with Reggie and Nora. Through all of that you will be right there with them, in the thick of it, fighting and trying and giving it your all, in hopes that it might work out.

If you think you’ve read a book like this one, think again my friend, and just wait until you experience every wickedly sensual, heart wrenchingly emotional, and exceptionally written word of this book.

M. Mabie brings it all to life with her incredible writing in a way that will have you on the pages of this book, fighting and giving it your all right along with Reggie and Nora, all while you experience every part of this story unfolding with them. M. Mabie’s writing is a delight in every way possible. It is mesmerizing, beautiful in a way that perfectly weaves together meaning, life, color and vibrancy, with so much impact. Her words have a way of owning you. Heart. Body. Mind. And soul. And let me tell you, you will never be owned quite like you are by M. Mabie’s writing and her exceptionally crafted stories.

They are in a league of their own for a reason. Her writing is that good, that powerful, and that extraordinary. Her words have so much behind them, so much heart and emotion and life and love. She pours her soul into these words and that shines through on every single page, which is just part of what makes this story, and Reggie and Nora, living and breathing exceptional things.

Twisted Desire is the first chapter in a story of what happens when two people, who are seemingly opposite in so many ways, can’t help but be drawn back to one another. It’s a story of second chances and third chances and so many more chances, all of which you will feel in your bones while reading. It’s a story of what happens when two people share a connection so fierce, so alluring, and so life changing that they can’t seem to fight or stay away from it, no matter how much it hurts, and no matter how much they know they will never be the same after experiencing a connection like that.

It’s a love story about two people who have just about broken each other’s hearts more times than they can count, but trust me they’re really counting, and how despite what they do to one another, they can’t help but be drawn back to each other and that fierce connection they share. This is a story about what happens when you meet the one person who changes everything, when you meet that one person who tilts your world’s axis, and who makes you see and feel and experience everything differently...and ultimately how that equally tears you apart as much as it puts you back together again.

It is a story about falling and breaking and picking yourself back up again, again and again. It’s about that pull that you can’t ignore, that fire you can’t douse, and that unyielding spark you can’t deny. It’s about Reggie and Nora and every lick of what they share as they try to figure out what in the world they’re doing and feeling.

I have loved every single one of this author’s books, but getting to go back and revisit my favorite book of hers, with my favorite characters what everything I needed and more.

I was shown over and over again why this book is some of her best work, and why it is hands down one of the best books I have ever read. What I got with Reggie and Nora as they pushed and pulled, as they fought and conquered, as they fell and broke, and as they let themselves and their hearts and emotions bleed out so intensely on the pages of this book was everything. EVERYTHING. And then some.

Those two opened their souls and every part of themselves to me as I read and experienced this book. They weren’t afraid to be vulnerable, they weren’t afraid to put it all on the line, and they weren’t afraid to fight or take that chance to take that leap of faith when it really mattered. They were themselves through every single page. Raw. Complicated. Dynamic. Unforgettable. Distinctive. Them. Reggie and Nora through and through, and I honestly can’t tell you enough what that will give you with them.

This book was the perfect first chapter into their story. It laid the groundwork, it set the bar, and it raised the stakes. This first taste of Reggie and Nora will have you practically salivating for more and dying to get your hands on the rest of their story. Trust me. Once you meet them, once you have, and one you’ve been spellbound by their authenticity, intenseness, and literal amazingness, you will have to have more of them. You’ll need them, you’ll crave them, and you’ll be beyond ready to see how it all comes to be in the final book of their story.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, this is some of M. Mabie’s best work, her strongest writing and storytelling, and it is contemporary romance at its finest. This book is emotional angst heaven and you are going to rejoice in every single word you get in this story with Reggie and Nora. Trust me. Those two will steal your heart faster than you know how, and you will love them for it.

You will love them, envy them, hate them, feel for them, all while simultaneously needing more of them, and that is just a fraction of what makes this one of the best books I have ever read.

So seriously, run yourself to this book, to this couple, to this world, to this angsty, emotional, intense, and utterly breathtaking story. Do not walk, do not pass go and collect 200 dollars, and do not dilly dally. Stories as epic and consuming as this one do not come around very often, and I am telling you, the second you get within this books’ pages and meet Reggie and Nora, is the moment you will instantaneously love them and need more…

And M. Mabie has a hell of a lot of more in this book and its follow up, so buckle up y’all and enjoy the unforgettable ride.

I know I did.

Their love is impossible to envision logically. She is polyamorous and he is a one-woman-man. Their individual needs are totally opposite and yet, the chemistry between them is off the charts. She cannot envision life without him. He cannot continue to fight for her to give him a monogamous love commitment.

What makes us fight for what we cannot have? When Reagan first met Nora, he was smitten. The attraction was so powerful he could not just walk away. Nora, on the other hand, was very clear from the very beginning she would never be able to survive in a monogamous relationship. Not only that, she did not take orders well and he was a very possessive man. They have both stopped counting how many times they have called off their relationship. And still, they somehow come back to each other hoping that something may have changed.

This is the first book of a two book series. So far, the story concentrates on their history and how they came about. It is gripping and you feel the frustration of these lovers that have not been able to compromise.

I am reviewing this book voluntarily. Thank you to the author for sharing it with me.

Twisted Desire by M. Mabie is the first book in the Knot Duet.
Meet Nora Koehl, she´s a strong independent woman who doesn´t do relationships. And then there´s Reagan Warren. He´s hung up on her to the point where it hurts, his feeliongs and mine too.
Twisted Desire starts out on a wedding and RTeagan knows he shouldn´t give in to Nora and her propositions, but she´s like catnip for him. While he´s exhausted by her antics he can´t witstand her pull. Reagan has some serious issues and he would be much better of without Nora, but the haert wants what the heart wants.
I really liked Nora´s character. She´s a wild child, a free spirit and luves her life to the fullest. Reagan is another story. I found him needy and sometimes annoying. The one pushes and the other pulls and plays games.
I liked Nora, yes I already wrote this down and the story is entertaining, the writing is good and I give 3,5 stars.
Twisted Desire continues in Tethered Love, the second book in the Knot Duet.

This story is intense, in a good way, and you won't be disappointed! Reagan and Nora are two dysfunction people just trying to make it work. Reagan wants monogamy and Nora is into polygamy (not being married but having multiple partners). It's no secret where she learned this from, since her mother goes through husbands like underwear. Their story is painful and heartbreaking because you can tell they want each other so much, but neither is willing to compromise really. You can feel their connection and tell that they really belong together, but it seems like it just isn't going to work. It certainly is a page turner. It pulls so many emotions from you... happiness, sadness, anger.. you just want these two people to work out and have their happily ever after but you know their reasons are legitimate for not working. Again, it will bring out lot of emotions, as it isn't the easiest read but it is worth it. It is a duet so there is another book and we see how its going to end..

The attraction and heat between Reggie and Nora is one that can’t be fully described in a few short sentences! It’s a heat, an attraction that has to be felt through the pages of this amazing book! From the beginning the push and pull of these two was one that threw each of them off their paths! Neither one expected the other and the more they fought the more they needed the other!

Nora was unconventional and Reggie was well he was a man with needs and as time went on those needs grew to be life itself! He needed Nora to breathe but would that change who she was? Could she fulfill the desires he craved?

This is part one in the knot duet and man oh man is it steamy! From beginning to end you will feel the heat and don’t worry book 2 and the conclusion to this amazing duet isn’t far behind so pick it up and learn of the amazing love between these two souls!

Mo Mabie is a new to me author. She’s taken her Knot novel and broken it down to a duet. Twisted Desires is Book 1 and let me tell you the prologue tears you apart. Reggie Warren is ambitious and driven. Nora Koehl is independent and lives commitment free. Honestly, they are hard to like at first. Both seem detached and void of feelings, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, they are passionate people terrified of letting go. The pull between them is strong. The chemistry is intense. But they play games and lie and hide their true feelings. It was painful to watch it happen. I wanted to shake some sense into them. And the more I read the more I wanted their story. The way their perspectives are written is enticing and unique. I’m anxious for Tethered Love which releases March 29, 2018.

Twisted desire is a story full of passion.

Nora and Reggie are quite the characters. They can’t help but hurt each other every chance they get. Truth is that there is a fine line between love and hate, and they are going back and forth from this line, trying to deny the chemistry between them.

Nora and Reagan can’t resist each other but they do fight real hard to keep their feelings at bay. Their story is angsty and emotional. Their interactions are filled with lust and intense moments. Sparks fly around them.

Besides, there is not a single emotion left out from the story. You are captivated the minute you start reading it because of how much this one can make you feel. I was overwhelmed by it all. I had to take deep breaths to take it all in. My heart hurt for the characters.

Emotional and filled with angst.

I read this duet when it was one book, Knot. So my review is for the duet as a whole.

I was anxious to read Reggie's story because I love M. Mabie's writing and I loved the Wake series. When I started the book I was thinking "these characters are crazy." I suddenly wasn't so sure I was going to enjoy this book as much as I had anticipated. But I kept on reading and as the story unfolded I got it. It starts present day and that's why I was thinking they were nuts. But as you go back to the past to where they met and everything they had been through it all made sense. I fell in love with both Nora and Reggie and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I need to know how they got to where they were. Knot was really good. It was really hot with a bit of angst. Anyone who enjoys those qualities in a book should definitely grab this one!

Twisted Desire by M. Mabie is a re-launch of a previously released novel titled KNOT released in 2016.
Twisted Desire is book one in The Knot Duet.
Meet Nora Koehl, she doesn´t do relationships, she´s a wild child and enjoys her life to the fullest.
And then is there Readgen. He suffers from anxiety and wants nothing more than the white picket fence with Nora. He can´t understand why she´s so determined to live her life in her own way. He´s all twisted up.
I started reading and had more than one WHAT ??? moment. There´s a roller coaster of emotions. While I loved Nora´s character, she´s such a great free spirit, I envy her- Reagan seems needy and annoying and I found it difficult to connect with his character. Nora and Reagan´s story continues in Tethered Love.

I read this book a couple of years ago and loved Nora and Reggie’s story and I feel the same way reading it as a duet. I have enjoyed getting to know these characters all over again. The feels in Twisted Desire…Oh so many! M definitely had me on the edge of my seat from page the first page until the last page. Absolutely loved it!
Reggie is at his sisters wedding where he invited Nora to be his date but Nora refuses. She sends him a text that she is in the lobby and wants to meet in his room. The story goes to the past and back to the present; so you get the insight of their relationship to the fullest.
Twisted Desire is the first book in The Knot Duet. I am now ready to get more of Nora and Reggie’s story in Tethered Love.

Oh the angst!!! I forgot how much I loved these characters! Reggie and Nora have a brutal and twisted love that will draw you in from the beginning. This is a reread for me but I feel as if Im experiencing their journey all over again. I now have a new perspective, just because of a simple name change. Twisted and Desire are the perfect adjectives to describe this pair. When I jumped in, I became reacquainted immediately. Even though I knew where they were headed, I still held out hope for a sunny day. I love where TD left off because you got just enough of a taste to crave more and see how far this tainted couple will go. Tethered Love can't come soon enough.

This book was really easy to jump into. The story revolves around two characters and is written in multiple POVs. Reggie, or Reagan, is an alpha male who loves taking his partners to the edge, making them beg for more, and is downright hot. Nora wants nothing to do with commitment and is a strong, independent, sexy heroine. But what happens when these two meet is nothing short of crazy, infuriating, hot, and insane.
The back and forth in time really gives you all the insight into what happened and is happening with these characters. This story and timeline is so well thought out, it kept me flipping the page. Pure gold.

Nora is commitment-phobic, but once she dipped her toe in...there was no going back.
"He entered me hard and fast, a lot like he'd came into my heart. Little warning. Little permission. Little resistance from me."
Did I mention that Reagan suffers from anxiety? Buckle up and hang on for the angst. Countdown if you have to ;)

The title is perfect because I am all twisted up inside. What a ride. I practically snapped mu kindle in half from the pressure I was putting on it as I flipped the pages.

Twisted Desire and Tethered Love were previously published as Knot in 2016 and was reviewed for this blog by my wonderful friend Colleen. So, I was excited to read it now as a duet since I hadn’t had the chance to read it originally. This book is not for the faint of heart! Reagan and Nora have lots of ups and downs in their relationship Their story is angsty, full of lust, desire and takes you on one emotional roller-coaster.

M. Mabie has left one heck of an impression on me with her writing. I will be looking forward for more of her books.

This is Reggie and Nora’s story! Reggie and Nora both have their own baggage that impedes a relationship. Reggie battles with anxiety, while Nora is a commitmentphobe who does not believe in monogamy. Will they be able to work through their differences and get their happily ever after? Twisted Desire is part one of the knot duet and does have a cliffhanger. This book was amazing and I can’t wait for book 2!

Absolutely loved this book, the chemistry these two characters have is off the charts. He wants just her, and she can't commit to one person. Reagan and Nora have two very different outlooks on relationships, but both have the need to control every situation. The push and pull these two are doing to each other will have u page turning and not be able to put the book down. Can't wait for the next book at all.

Twisted Desire, book 1 in Knot Duet
I enjoyed the story and alpha male Reagan. The story between Reagan and Nora is great. I loved the story and it does pull you in. The only down fall for me is the going back and forth between chapters or past and present. I’m not a fan of books like that so that’s the o my thing I didn’t enjoy.
It’s a first time reading M. Mabie and was enjoyable and not the last.

Fantastic story!!

I had a hard time getting into this one at first and I think Nora was my hangup. It took me awhile to warm up to her because she's very headstrong and stubborn and can come across as bitchy. Now Reggie...I loved him right from the start!

Once this story hit me, it hit me hard! Their story is honest, real and very emotional because of that. Mabie really got my heart involved with this one!!

What do you get when you tie two like-minded, strong-willed people together? Knots. Your head will be in knots, your heart will be in knots....heck, you might even be in knots after from rolling around in your emotions! I love that M writes the end of one chapter leading into the next with similar phrases....love it! What a read!
