This time, Cendrilla is bringing the fight all the way to Tundra. The Snow Queen has abducted the Crown Prince Alec, putting the future of the United Kingdom of Seven in jeopardy.
Before Cendrilla embarks on this final confrontation, she must seek help from those who banished the evil monarch a century ago: the fairies.
But the fairies have an agenda of their own.
Are they fiend or foe?
And what price is Cendrilla willing to pay for their aid?
In this thrilling installment of the Seven Kingdoms, the greatest enemy Cendrilla faces is not the fairies or the Snow Queen…
The greatest enemy is the truth.

It is official! This series has ruined me completely! I'm gone, dead, adios, hasta la vista! Good bye!!! Argh!! Why do you make me feel so conflicted Castel! Why!?!
Wow, wooooo! What a ride I've been on with this series, but this book, this one book alone, took it to a WHOLE new level!! You'll definitely want to throw it, chuck it, hug it and just scream at it! (Btw, I did this, minus the throwing and chucking! Can't chuck my iPad now can I? 🤣)
Anywho, back to me original plan, if I can put it into words that is, this book was great and terrible at the same time!
Okay, Rilla and most of her gang are now faced with the new mission (again another mission to complete before she faces the Snow Queen, I mean this girl, trouble follows her everywhere!) And this time, the Snow Queen has abducted Prince Armin's older brother, Alec. The theory they have? She wants to marry him by force (obviously) to gain dominance over the whole Seven Kingdoms (again obvs). So now Rilla has the task to rescue Alec, and along the way find out how to defeat the Snow Queen by asking the creatures who defeated and banished the Snow Queen centuries ago, the fairies.
The problem is, they want nothing to do with the humans or any other creature anymore. So Rilla has to convince them to fight with her or at least to teach her how to defeat her. Rilla will go through many dangers and face many problems. Some that will infuriate her, others will leave her heartbroken and confused. That's right, her relationship with Lord Bluebeard and Armin may have not gone exactly as she had hoped or expected. What will happen now? Will she ever have happiness, can she truly find peace in a world what tends to seek her out with more trouble? We all have to wait and see!
Super, super excited for the final conclusion to this epic series! Ahhh I cannot wait!!
It's all very exciting and so juicy with information! You do not want to miss out on this book! So start this, start this wild series, you'll love it! Well, what are you waiting for?! Go out there! It'll not disappoint!!
This book was provided to me free of charge. My review is given voluntarily.
I don't know what to say about this installment. I'm mad at everyone and I don't care if it is the troll glass' fault. Are we sure the series has to end?
The sixth installment of author Cordelia Castel’s Seven Kingdoms series opens with the antagonistic Jack talking of orchestrating an attack with Ogrebane. In the meantime, Rilla prepares for a trip to Vern, wishing to know where the Order of the Alkahest’s hideout is, allegedly Castle Azoth on the other side of Springton. The Snow Queen returns as a villain, having offered the Order fairies in exchange for capturing Prince Alex, another love interest of Rilla’s. Cendrilla meets with the Orangutan General Sumatra of the Pongo clan, and is taken to meet the Fairy Queen, although her welcome into their realm isn’t exactly wholesome.
Rilla is rendered incoherent by her meeting with the Queen, with a doctor named Mallard healing her, and she eventually begins her instruction in fairy magic with Prince Vanus. Cendrilla’s relationship with her betrothed Lord Bluebeard has definitely cooled throughout the series, although he yearns for a woman named Paloma instead. A later chapter opens with an unfamiliar character named Ella waking for breakfast and having no memory of what had previously transpired, the action ultimately returning to Rilla as she seeks the lair of the Snow Queen, and begins battle against her.
Overall, I definitely wanted to enjoy this installment of the Seven Kingdoms series, although it somewhat locks out those who are especially familiar with its predecessors, and a plot synopsis of the stories up to the point would have definitely been welcome. The chapter beginning with the character Ella also proves somewhat unnecessary, and the book borders on literary nonsense at times. The battle scenes towards the end of the book are good, although around this point the series is starting to lose its luster, given many prior average entries, and definitely isn’t recommended reading.
This series is brilliant. I am not sure where Cordelia Castel gets all her ideas, but they are incredible. Her writing is fantastic. She covers everything and everyone with so much detail leaving no questions.
In this book, Rilla has to rescue Prince Alec, Armins brother, who the Snow Queen kidnapped. Her plan is to marry him by force so she has access to the Seven Kingdoms. The Snow Queen is supposed to be banished from the Seven Kingdoms, but has found a way around this banishment. Rilla sets out to find the fairies to help her with castting out the Snow Queen, as they have done it before in the past. In their journey to Elphame, troll glass is broken onto her crew causing them to fight among themselves. Rilla is especially affected when Armin distances himself from her and no longer looks at her lovingly. She also discovers something that distances herself from Lord Bluebeard too.
This series is full of excitement, adventure, and so many plot twists. The author does a brilliant job of intertwining magical beings and fairy tale characters into a fantastic story. There are mentions of elfs, trolls, ogres, witches, huge snowmen, mages, fairies, imps, and so much more.
I have already started the next book. This series should be made into a movie. I can see it being as big as the Harry Potter series. It's that good.
Cordelia Castel has done it again with Banishment, the 6th book in The Seven Kingdom series! Each time I come to the end of an instalment, I’m left with this feeling of “W H A T just happened? Thank goodness I don’t have to wait a year to find out! Although Ms. Castel is still adding to the series (thank you), the next instalment is usually already available or will be soon (again, thank you).
In Banishment, Cendrilla searches for those able to expel the Evil Mage who has been wreaking havoc all over the Known World. The Snow Queen has used her stolen magic and her malevolent ingenuity to find a way around her banishment. Cendrilla needs to locate Elphame, home of the fairies including her grandmother, their Queen. They were instrumental in casting out the Snow Queen tolp centuries ago. Cendrilla needs to know how she can repeat the process. Will they help? Join her adventure. If you enjoy great Fantasy, exciting adventure, unexpected plot twists and - oh yes- Fairy Tale variations, you will love these stories!
An amazing series. This just keeps getting better and better. The storyline is fantastic and has racing back and forth trying to figure out what is going to happen. I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. I just had to find out what happens to Rilla and her courageous group of people. Rilla has to find help since she has to help save people again. But of course things never go as according to plan. This has so many twists and turns in it. The writing and flow of the book is prize worthy. A must read and a must have! I can’t wait to read the next one. I voluntarily review an advanced reader copy of this book.
Each book in the Seven Kingdoms series just keeps getting better! The Banishment, the sixth installment in Rilla's adventures, continues her journey and new missions. This time she needs to save Armin's brother, Alec, from the Snow Queen. In doing so, she continues to learn more of her past and family.
Once again the action moves fast, making it hard to put the book down. Can't wait to read the next one!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This sixth book finds Cendrilla and her companions in hot pursuit of the Snow Queen.Journeying through magical lands and battling creatures who will stop at nothing to keep them from reaching the Snow Queens Lair.On top of these obstacles Cendrilla learns of a betrayal that will shake her to her core and question is their truly anyone she can trust or is she now (and always been) truly on her own.
But I am upping my rating for all the books to 2. I did have to acknowledge that Castel doesn't gloss over the ugliness of people and that physically ugly people can be the most beautiful. Full of tropes still? Yes. Still an an unending oh gods please just stop for more than a day? Yes. Am I picking up speed to near skimming and not missing literally anything? Also yes.
There were so many twists and turns in this book that I was so confused at times. I actually had to go back and re-read a few chapters just to understand what was going on. I never really knew what was going on. It was truly busy. Was the snow queen banished or not. And the hatred towards rilla was crushing.. As for the necklace.. What is up with that???
After battling the Snow Queen and sending her back to the Tundra, the arrive back at Kingdom of Seven's capital to find out that Armin's brother has been kidnapped. Now the crew is going to stop her for good, but will Rilla come out of the battle unscathed?
More adventure and suspense as well as fighting evil.
Wow I have been on a journey with Cindrella and have not been disappointed. At times I do feel sorry for her, but she always surprises me and rises to the occasion. I'm off to read book 7 -- can't wait. Cordelia you have an excellent way of flushing out all of the characters. You have not disappointed me at all. Again, this is not your ordinary fairy tale folks there are many surprises.
Fairy tale characters populate this story that makes its own lore. Epic romance, battles of will, and other fun tricks make this a story that transeds the fairy tale genre.
Omg, another page turning head scratching awesomely written story
After so much heartache, what can possibly happen to our heroine now. Cendrilla has overcome so much only to have her heart ripped apart again. Can't wait to see what happens next!!!
The next step of Rilla's journey is here and it is just as action packed and full of adventure as the previous ones. It is amazing how the author can keep introducing different characters and make them all so different.
I loved the fast-paced action in this book! There was never a dull moment. I love the fact that this is some of the most original storytelling ever! I’m completely enthralled with this series!
Banishing the Snow Queen back to Tundra was not enough to put a stop to her machinations to conquer the United Kingdom of Seven. Cendrilla has to step in once more to get her out of the picture once and forever, and this time her powers are not enough. She must ask for the help of the fairies, but at what cost?
Join Cendrilla in this thrilling, fast-paced and well written sixth installment of the "Seven Kingdoms", where more secrets are revealed and more surprises await just around the corner.
