"THIS HELD TRUE FOR ALL HUMANS OF ALL TIMES—WHEN LIFE IS THREATENED, ONE FIGHTS BACK..."

In the distant future, four religions rule the world. Nothing challenges their reign, though prophecies foretell of a creature that will enslave mankind ... an unstoppable entity called The Black.

It. Has. Arrived.

Unleashing a deadly Prophet, The Black ignites mayhem and sends it thundering to every corner of the world. Calling millions to him, the Prophet’s hand reaches far and scorches everything it touches.

Only one woman can stop this wicked uprising. Rumors swirl around Nicki Sesam, saying she possesses powers that rival the Prophet’s. But Nicki doesn’t understand these abilities and wants no part of them. While the Ministries rush to capture and harness her powers for their own use, the Prophet targets her for death. And Nicki? She’s running. Not caring about stopping the Prophet or his God, she only wants to live

The appointed hour has come. As the world burns, the Ministries struggle to find something—anything—that can destroy this all-powerful Prophet. Humanity's one hope for salvation—Nicki—flees in terror. Civilization is ending as a new God spreads across the land.

Will Nicki stand and fight? Or is Earth already lost?

I used to deliver pizza. I was pretty good at it, too. I mean, it's not that hard, but if I'm not going to brag, who is, right? Anyways, so I'm delivering pizza while I'm in college, and my boss has been in the pizza industry like six years. He's supposed to graduate from college this year, and I ask him, what are you going to do after college? We're all supposed to go out and conquer the world right after college, so this guy has to have some kind of plan.

He looked at me like I was delusional.

"I'm a writer, man."

Those four words changed my life more so than anything else ever spoken to me.
I'd always written, since I was twelve participating in online-wrestling forums in which you acted out your character. I wrote because it came naturally. Never once, in the entirety of my nineteen years did I think that writing could be a career though, until a Pizza Sage said those four words to me.

So what did I do? I went home and wrote a short story and immediately understood that I was the greatest writer to ever touch a keyboard. I brought it to the Pizza Sage and he told me what anyone could have told me--it was horrible. I might be dumb, probably am, but I'm also tenacious.

I spent the next seven years writing almost every day. My first novel grew to the length of 40,000 words, then I threw it away. My second novel grew to 140,000 words. I didn't throw it away, but it was rejected about 50 times by agents. My next novel ended up at around 55,000 words, which I showed to a few friends and shelved. Then I wrote Dead Religion, which is the only reason I have an author page at Amazon.

I have had four short stories published, paid and unpaid. 'Effects May Vary' won an award that was voted on by readers, which was pretty cool.

I'm currently getting my Masters in Business at the University of Georgia's Terry School of Business. I'm doing this in order to not deliver pizzas but still keep the lights on. I have a girlfriend who will soon be my fiancé, and after ten years, I imagine she's ready for that title.

I want to own a yacht.

We're given an up close and personal look at what kind of power David weilds when The First Faith's armada shows up at his compound. We're also given more background of Rachel Veritros. As each character is explored more, we start to see how much the world has stayed the same since the Reformation. They created the 4 ministries to save the world, and while they did save humanity, they didn't kill out evil and all that goes with it. The old saying "The more things change, the more they stay the same" is very apparent in this series.

I'm getting a bad feeling about the Constant Ministry...They seem to be absent from too much. Are they the masterminds behind what is happening with the people with the "sight"? They've got the technology, and seems like a good way to get rid of the other ministries.

There are so many characters that we're following, I've actually started a who's who list that I can refer to. I keep adding to it as each character is given even more depth.

Loving this series!! I really don't want to see it come to an end!!

"I can't wait to see what's inside."
The signal is given, the war has begun. Throughout the world, cities are burning, people are dying, slaughtered by the followers of the Prophet. But David is lost, the plan has gone wrong and he begins to suspect that he knows the traitor's identity. Meanwhile Rhett and the Disciple are both with the Girl, both so alike, on opposing sides. Whilst she just wants to run away...

Confusing? Not really. Just so intricately layered that to sum up the contents of Life in a brief resume is too formidable a task for this reader. This is adventure on a cosmic scale as the four religions battle encroaching darkness and the loves, fears and loyalties of individuals are stretched and tested, and a young girl discovers her fast expanding powers without understanding of or knowing how to use them. She only knows she has to escape. And David has to find her, kill her, because she is too like him.

Magnificent book But, new readers, start at the beginning with Birth.

One Book, Four Pieces

This is a really good book. Too bad it's being sold as four books. Having now read the first two parts of the series, I can see that the story is very good and very well written. It just feels like it has been arbitrarily cut up every 250 pages or so in order to sell it in pieces. The first two books don't come to any kind of logical conclusions. There is no solving of any situations. There is just an are stopping point and a reference to the next book. That is just crap to sell more books. Stephen King writes beautiful, long novels that aren't carved up like this. Cutting up this book for a few extra bucks was just really, really tacky! Incredibly bad form for an otherwise good book.
Mr Beers, you're giving me a good product so why did you feel the need to rip me off? And not just once but four times.

Still Great !

I read the first book in this series and loved it, as I have the other works of David Beers. This one definitely has the action, interesting philosophical exploration, characters that are written together so well, etc. I am not generally a huge sci-fi fan, but the premise and writing are beyond being labeled as one genre.

I find the author to be talented, entertaining, and cerebral in writing his novels. They stand out and I am sure other bookworms are as pleased as I that he has a large collection of books to read by him. I think that this book and series are definitely worthwhile for anyone who likes great plots, characters and intelligence in their reading. Happy Reads to all!

Book Two in Another Awesome Series By David Beers! [Copied From my Amazon Kindle Review]
Highly Recommend Reading Book 1 First. That said, David has created another Great Series, you find yourself riveted, unable to put the book down and wishing you already had the next book in line so you can keep on reading despite the blurry, burning eyes from lack of sleep. I could rehash the basics, but that's what descriptions are for and I won't enter spoiler territory so I'm sorry if my review is a bit vague. All I can say is I highly recommend it and wish I had the next in my hands already! David has definitely become, and continues to be one of my all time Favorite Authors.
