The explosive continuation of the Evergreen Series from New York Times bestselling author Cassia Leo.

The seeds of doubt have been planted.

Two to six weeks. That’s how long it takes, on average, to get a divorce in Oregon.

With Jack convinced I betrayed him, I expect to be served divorce papers within hours of moving out. But weeks pass without word from Jack, and the papers never arrive. Though my heart isn’t ready to give up on him, I can’t shake the feeling that we may be better off apart. And Isaac is more than happy to help me move on.

But just as I begin to build some semblance of a life and career, a new and improved Jack arrives on my doorstep. Divorce papers are the furthest thing from his mind as he delivers news that both shatters me and restores my faith in the love we shared. But is it too late for us?

Wow! Talk about drama. This second book just raised more questions for me and then that ending just left me hanging. Gah!

Laurel is a hot mess in this book. After how Book 1 ended, she is unsurprisingly broken. She finds comfort in Isaac and things start to get interesting. Every time I think I have their relationship figured out, there is a twist that completely confuses me. I thought Jack made some pretty stupid decisions when it came to his marriage. His actions did not appear to line up with what he claimed to want. In all honesty, I don't like any of these characters anymore but I just can't look away from all the drama they create!

Jack makes progress in his search for revenge. It appears in this book that he may even have closed the case but I'm not fooled. I feel like something is missing and hopefully we find those answers in the last book.

There are so many things I need to know! I am now suspicious of so many characters and trying to figure out the significance of certain scenes. These characters make some questionable decisions but I am completely hooked on this series and I cannot wait for Bloom!

Seed is the follow up to the dramatic, emotion-wrecking novel Dirt, a book that stayed with me after finishing it. It was true to life in many ways, an example of the push and pulls in relationships that lead you to your breaking point in the face of disastrous events. Seed is the aftermath, the world already unraveled for Laurel and Jack, their lives taking different directions, a new man threatening it further. Divorce seems to be in the cards and Laurel finds escape in methods that leave her in inappropriate situations. Jack hasn't given up yet, not on his marriage, but while he's off trying to solve past crimes Isaac is in the picture more and more. Seed is just as dramatic as Dirt, but with a little less suspense and angst. It's definitely a middle book, missing the meat Dirt has, but promising there's even more to come in Bloom.

This may have been a case of it's not you, it's me, but I struggled with the character's changing personalities. It felt like more time had passed between Dirt and Seed than really had, all three characters very different than the previous novel. We do get to see their weaknesses, their struggles, more about their pasts, and how their thought process works in the present. Laurel is very damaged, which is to be expected, but Jack is finding his role as a husband again and Isaac, well he's seeing all the opportunities open up in front of him. Though we get a lot of answers, and a significant amount of character information, we don't get enough to see how this story is going to play out yet. There is a lot that transpires and some twists that really shocked me. There is one big event that I really wish had been developed further, it almost felt too easy, but I know there is more to come on that storyline. For me, Cassia Leo gives us enough to know more is coming, but not enough to really hold onto. I ended up giving the book two reads and while I am beyond excited for the big reveals to come, I wish that the series would've been combined together into longer length books to allow for Seed to be something more.

Cannot be read as a standalone.

After the jaw-dropping ending in Dirt, I couldn't wait to start this book.

It's not over for Jack and Laurel.... And it's not over for Laurel and Isaac.

Lines get blurred, and mistakes get made. I couldn't put this book down.

Things get even more complicated in Seed, and my mind can't stop thinking about how Bloom will end. GAH!!!!

Fans of Cassia will also be happy about a quick appearance from her other series!

4.5 “Because that’s love. It makes absolutely no fucking sense.” Stars

Seed starts off immediately where Dirt left off with Jacks bombshell and Laurels utter shock.

Laurel as could be expected from the way Dirt ended is a complete mess. Actually one of Dylan’s nicknames for her is hot mess and it fits her to a T. She’s almost not even the same person she was in Dirt. She is lost, lonely and hurt and such a hot mess I found it hard for me to connect with her at times.

“You’re so not fine, Laurel. You’re oceans away from fine. And that’s okay.”

Jack is still on his mission to find justice and a semblance of closure. But he too seems to have had a major personality change in this book. There were times in Dirt that I thought he was such a cocky ass, but in this one I didn’t see that side of him as often.

The one part I did love and was so excited for was more of Isaac. Not only do we get more of him, we get to see him reconnecting with his past and begin to heal from that. We also see him fighting his ever growing feelings for Laurel and often times failing.

But I couldn’t ignore the voice telling me that getting my heart broken by Laurel would be a privilege.”

I absolutely loved getting to know him better and having his character more developed. However some of the situations he allowed himself to be in had me very frustrated.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about this book. Part of me feels cheated out of something kind of like I was strung along on this emotional roller-coaster ride expecting this great thrill or even a sense of relief at the end but instead I am left almost in shock and a bit frustrated.

But even in the midst of my frustrations, I could not put this book down. I flew through it so fast I had barely anything highlighted which is so not normal for me especially with one of Cassia's books.

There are so many little bread crumbs that Cassia has woven into this one that makes me so anxious to get my hands on Bloom. I feel like there is way more going on than meets the eye and I CAN’T wait to get my hands on Bloom and see how it all plays out.

2 ⭐️⭐️ Stars! Very disappointed. I didn’t like the turn if events.*spoiler alert*

*********spoiler alert********

I’m sorry I have no patience for irresponsible people. How do you get disgustingly drunk and not know you are sleeping with someone else thinking that it’s your husband? She doesn’t deserve him. What Laurel did was one of the most unforgivable thing you could do in a marriage. Sorry didn’t like it. I give up can’t finish the trilogy.

After reading Dirt and that ending, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Seed. A lot of questions are answered, a lot more have come up... that ending OMG!
Jack is still in search of answers while leaving Laurel in the dark wondering if she still even has a husband. I felt sad for her and wished for more communication between them. I adore Isaac and watching him suffer from his PTSD breaks my heart. But he is a distraction... and while I like him... there is no one for Laurel but Jack. But Jack needs to get his head of his ass or he will lose the love of his life ugh!
This book was short for me and while I look forward to book 3 because again that cliffy is OMG, I think this series could have been completed in two books rather than 3.
I do look forward to getting all the answers.

This is the second book in the Evergreen series. Laurel thinks she is getting divorce and is an emotional mess. Jack wants to put the past behind him but wants to try one more time to find answers. He thinks that him and Laurel will truly be able to move on if they find out who killed their son. While Jack is deep in the past, Laurel gets closer to Issac.

While reading, I found out more about their past and the love they share. Not much happened before 60% of the book. After that it gets dramatic fast! There is one big thing that happened that left me feeling dissatisfied. I know there is more to come and I'm anxious to see what will happen next in Bloom.

This book is a hot mess. Laurel spends a lot of time at the end of the bottle, Jack is giving a last ditch effort to the one thing that Laurel wanted over and then there’s Isaac. I was over this threesome at the end of the 1st book, but I was intrigued enough to take a look at this book. Yep...still done with them.

I was so into the first book, but this had none of the magic expected. The previous installment was super messy, and the ending was drama, but was totally here for it. This began trying to redeem the husband, and the rest was super boring. Only my raging Book OCD will get me to read the next installment (hard not knowing how it all ends up).

3 very disappointing stars. After the KILLER cliffie at the end of book 1, I expected so much more. But truly nothing happened in this installment that moved the relationship or the plot forward, at least in my opinion. I still don't know what role Isaac plays in this whole thing. Jack is still obsessed about finding out who killed his son and mother in law (but that does finally get resolved). Laurel is just kind of coasting and let life carry her where it will. And Isaac is still in love with her, but I can't for the life of me figure out why or where it came from. I'm not really sure I'm sticking around for Book 3 at this point, though Book 2 left us with another relatively large cliffie to deal with.

I can't be bothered to write a long review about this one. As a second part to the cliffhanger of the first. For me it's a disappointing and aggravating read.

The hero does shit that makes no sense while his wife self destructs. All the while more characters are sent into the mix and you know exactly where this is going to go.

Not my cuppa... anymore.

While I like all previous work from Cassia Leo, these books just did not do it for me. I started slow and didn't pick up until after 60 percent. The whole cheating thing was just wrong, I understand she was drunk but that is never an excuse for cheating. Worst of all not confessing right away was worse. I hope my prediction for the last book is not correct because it would be too obvious.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. But did it live up to my expectation ?? Not that much, I guess. Things were way too dramatic, and not in the good sense. Lauren and Jack and ridiculously absurd at times. Jack, for all his undying love for Lauren, was pretty dense throughout the book. And I really couldn't figure out where Isaac actually could fit in this whole saga. And that I can see this whole story taking a nose dive from here..

But I couldn't keep it down, the need to know how things ended was way too much for me. The investigation did progress, but you know I just didn't feel it. And I love mysteries and investigations. More than JAck and Lauren , I am really looking forward to some sinister plot that began this intriguing story. In fact, I am already looking at alternatives who could me the murderer. But the investigation is almost taking a side track and their drama is never ending. Sigh ! But I am going to keep pushing till the end..

I just did not like this book. I am so very disappointed with SEED. Her husband was gone less than a month and she cheats and being drunk is not an excuse... Of all the scenarios that could have been written, man this book was REALLY STUPID!!

Seed by the incredibly talented author Cassia Leo is the second book in the Evergreen Series. Seed is not a standalone. You must read the previous book, Dirt, first.

In Seed Laurel, Isaac and Jack´s story continues. Seed picks up where Dirt left off. Jack demanded a divorce and Laurel daily expects to be served with divorce papers. But weeks pass without words from Jack.
Laurel´s torn. Should she close this chapter of her life, or hold onto hope? Her heart isn´t ready to give up, her mind says maybe it would be better to move on. And there´s still her neighbor Isaac. Isaac was severely wounded and is now back. He´s healing slowly, healing on body and soul. And he´s too happy to help Laurel move on.
And then Jack´s back. And so much has changed. He isn´t the man he was before.

Seed is just like Dirt, a raw and gritty read. Dirt ended and I was like - What?? Now?? I need the next book, real bad. I couldn´t wait to get my hands on Seed. I started reading and I was sucked into the story immediatedly. Seed gutted me. I could feel every emotion, every bit of guilt, despair and pain in the words. These three characters have so much pain to endure.
In the end Seed left me breathless with my brain screaming, I need more !
Seed is a complex story with many layers. One character is a hot mess and tries to put it´s life back together, the other makes a last attempt at justice. And then are twists and turns I never, ever had expected. I can´t get the book out of my head. It stubbornly stays.
I highly recommend Seed and can´t wait to read the final installment, Bloom.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Seed and you know why if you've read Dirt, which you must!!

When we last saw Jack, Isaac, and Laurel a lot was going down! My jaw was on the floor with Isaac's statement that set everything into motion and Jack's response.....I don't think I've ever been so shocked!

Since that evening Laurel has returned to her mother's home to get her life together. But what does that look like? Did Jack truly mean what he said? How is she supposed to pull all the broken pieces of herself together without the the only man she's ever truly love.

As time goes by, she and Isaac are getting closer. She hasn't spoken much to Jack and isn't sure what he's up to but so far he's been unreachable. Laurel can feel herself connecting with Isaac and even though he's still healing from the incident he never thinks twice about dropping everything for her.

Jack is still on the hunt for he and Laurels son's murderer he won't rest until they have justice. What he discovers changes everything. He didnt expect this turn of events and wonders if he should tell Laurel.

One night and things will never be the same. There will be consequences and choices to make. I re read that scene over and over because I just couldn't BELIEVE it!

The ending had me stressed out!!! I still don't know where my loyalties lie but I can't wait to see how this ends, Cassia knows how to keep us in suspense, on our toes and wanting more!

Seed, book two in the Evergreen series, picks up where Dirt left off with Jack and Laurel seemingly at the end of their marriage. Laurel is devastated and stays at her mother's house, growing closer to Isaac. Jack decides that he is going to find his son's killer, no matter what.
This second book keeps the emotion high and tense. While the characters struggle to find some peace within the chaos around them, outside forces, both good and bad, conspire to keep them apart. I flew through the sections with Laurel. Her heartbreak and confusion bleed from the pages, as she navigates a world without her soulmate. Jack, in this book, appears removed from his emotions. So single focused that he loses sight of the big picture, which may not end well for him.
Interwoven within the story of Jack and Laurel, is Isaac. Ms. Leo shows more of him, leading the reader into his heart and mind, which he doesn't seem to know. He flounders between what he feels is right and wrong. Isaac is man at a crossroads of his life, one where he is completely unsure of his destination.
While the case of Jack Jr. and Beth's killer takes center stage mid-read, it pales in comparison to the well written, thoughtful and hopeful story of the love and lives of two people broken by violence and pain. There is a third book to come as Seed ends on a jaw-dropping, to-be-continued ending. Seed is not a standalone, Dirt must be read first.

After the end of Dirt I was super anxious to get my hands on Seed. As I read though I didn't feel the same pull I got from the first book. Don't get me wrong we have all the same great characters but the feel has just shifted a bit.

Laurel finds herself even more lost and confused. She was certain that her and Jack were on the same page, she still feels that strange draw towards Issac and she has decided that it is time to live for herself and find a job. While working on moving forward she continues to spend time with Issac from time to time, helping him out where she can. Jack's complete silence has her wondering if everything she believed in is completely gone, wondering if she has truly lost him for good.

Jack is pulling out all the stops, he has decided he must solve the mystery before he can go home and make things right with Laurel. To bad he didn't give her a little heads up before he ran off. I hope he finds what he is looking for and can make it home before all is lost to him.

Drea and Dylan are the light and fluffy of this book and they bring some smiles in times where confusion and loss seem to be taking over.

As two lovers grow further apart, holding on my only their memories and the strength of what they once had, two people becoming friends and slowly falling into a pattern of helping each other cope with life's curve balls. Will lines get blurred? Will love be lost?

OMG...that ending....what will happen next....I have so many questions, where will she turn? Who will be her strength this time? Will truths break them all? I need Bloom now!!!!!

Warning... this is not a standalone. Dirt must be read first to fully understand what is going on in Seed.

Because this is a continuation novel I'm not going into detail on the plot. I'm all about avoiding spoilers.

I just finished reading Seed and am immediately writing this review while its still fresh in my mind. I'm literally sitting here enraged by this cliffy but I can't stop myself from smiling at the cluster f*ck that Cassia Leo has created! All hell is about to break loose! I need more...now!

I am loving this series!

The only flaw I felt Seed had is the fact that there is little to almost no communication between Laurel and Jack. I wanted more from these two.

Bloom needs to get here fast! I need to know what happens next!

😱🤬😩😱😱😳!!! These were all the emotions while reading this book. I was dying to find out what happened after that gasping ending in Book 1.

Seed picks up where it ended in Dirt and something more. So many things happened between Laurel, Isaac and Jack that I can’t get to into it because it will give away the story away and I personally hate when it’s done to me. But popcorn will be necessary for this at the beginning and by the time you’re done you’ll need a bottle of wine because a glass won’t be sufficient.

You start seeing progress then it gets complicated and then you’ll be just as confused as me whether to be Team Jack or Team Isaac. There’s so much therapy needed after this BUT just get ready for all the emotions.

Captivating!! This book is so freaking good. It is an Unputdownable book for sure. I am so invested in this series. I feel like I'm going to have withdrawals if I don't get the next book now. That is just how good this series is.

Dirty left us with the cliffhanger of Jack wanting a Divorce and Seed continues with the rest of the story from Dirty, but leaves us with another Cliffhanger of totally different problems.

UGGHHH!!! Cassia Leo is killing me here, but I FLOVE IT!!!

I really can't wait to see what happens in Bloom. I have so many scenario's playing in my head of how the rest of the story is going to go and just how it's all going to end.

This series is definitely going to be a series that sticks with me for a long time.

Happy Reading Everyone!!!

This couple continues to make bad decisions as they did in book one. Their lives are a mess, they confide in friends but not each other. Communication is almost nil. Yet, guess what? I can't stop reading this series. I was never a drug user, my addiction is strong regular drip coffee, but this book is my (if only imaginary & temporary) crack-cocaine! And I can't put my finger on it because the characters are acting out & jeopardizing their marriage & future happiness. They are still deeply in love with each other, living separately as mutual friends clue them in to what's happening in their spouse's life. Both, either due to the grief of lost loved ones or their intense love for one another are spiraling downward fast. This is not a particularly fast paced story but at the same time, my head is spinning! Each book has a cliffhanger & there is quite the shocker to end book two. I can't wait to finish the final installment so we can all finally rest & have our HEA.

Seed takes place straight after Dirt finishes, and Seed must be read after Dirt as this is not a standalone
My god I can’t wait for Bloom after Seed finishing on that note. You can’t help but feel Laurel’s devastation, not only losing her son and mother and then her husband asks for a divorce.
This book mostly follows Laurel’s struggle, and trying to make a new life without Jack. I felt for Isaac struggling with flashbacks after coming home from Marines
I didn’t expect the twist in the series, and no I’m not saying.
So you will have read it yourself.

Seed is the continuation from the first in the series, Dirt. At the end of the last book, I wasn’t sure how Laurel and Jack would be. How do you come back from something like that? Jack is this super alpha male, and he just didn’t sit right with me.

As the story continues, Jack is still searching for the killer of his son and mother in law. In which, it takes a turn I didn’t expect. And Laurel is just a mess; She keeps making these awful mistakes, and everything is so emotional. At the end of this one, I’m just like what now? This is an excellently written story; I believe that Leo has a real talent. But I haven’t connected with the characters on an emotional level.

At the end of Seed, we are just left with more questions. Which, I’m sure will be answered in the third book of this series, Blossom. I think it will be interesting to see where the story leads.

Overall, Three Boundless Stars.

First, I just want to say that Cassia is my go to Author. Her stories are brilliant!

This is the first time I've read a book from Queen Cassia and not known how to leave a review. I feel like the characters from Dirt have undergone personality changes. Isaac is questioning his feelings. Jack has done a 180. Laurel is a hot mess!! and ME, well I'm absolutely confused.

"But I don't want to just exist with you anymore. I want to exist in you."

This just got alotttttt more complicated. Thankfully Dylan and Drea are still as spunky as ever. They are the gorilla glue that holds Laurel together. Though i will admit i didn't like the deceit from Drea. I know Dylan was involved as well, but Drea??? After some of the comments she made in Dirt I'm just like no hunn..your loyalty lies elsewhere. I'm anxious to see how the story plays out. How will Laurel react to the new development? Will Isaac resolve his feelings? Will Jack have a tough decision to make? Will Laurel do the RIGHT thing?
So many questionssssss???
&&& I can't wait to see your bloom.

The seeds of doubt have been planted.

Why! Why! Why! are my first thoughts!!! Seed is book #2 in The Evergreen series. You must read Dirt before reading Seed. Dirt, (book #1) blew me away and ended with a powerful and almost volatile scene! And then the wait began…. Or in my case, the most impatient wait ever!

He was, without question, the great love of my life. He was my best friend, my lover, my protector, my caregiver, my everything.

Jack and Laurel have suffered unimaginable tragedy. They have been trying to work through their grief for three years. Things take a sharp turn at the end of Dirt after an unraveling of events that led Jack to declare that he wants a divorce. Of course he does it “Jack” style - after an intense “angry fuck.”

“But what you and Jack have… Well, it’s big. It’s messy. It’s consuming. But in the end, it’s still love, and it’s still very much alive. You can’t bury that.”

Laurel is shattered and confused. She leaves, heading back to her mother’s house to regroup. There are still so many loose ends that need to be resolved. Isaac remains in the picture and lines become blurred. Time is not their friend. And time will indeed be the center of all that happens. Too early, too late or just idle, time is everything in this story.

After a talk with his dad, Jack realizes he must fight for his marriage. But he must also close the door on the past and his quest for justice. Jack closes himself off from everyone for weeks, not realizing the state he left Laurel in.

“The ones we love are the ones with the power to hurt us most.”

Laurel is lost and desperately trying to find her way. She is picking up the pieces that were left, trying to move on, while having no idea that Jack is trying to make his way back. Circumstances and situations. As I mentioned above, timing is EVERYTHING! That is all that I can really say without a spoil…..

Seed is just as intense as Dirt. Cassia Leo is weaving a web that will trap you! This has been a fantastic series and I may die if I don’t get the conclusion Bloom soon….

“Because that’s love. It makes absolutely no fucking sense.”

Seed is proof once again that no one writes angst quite like Cassia Leo. This latest installment in the Evergreen trio of books shows just how amazing she is at keeping the reader completely engaged going from book one to book two. Leo has a way of continuing the story-line so that it is fresh and gripping like no one else. Typically the middle book of a trilogy can feel almost a bit bland but I promise you Seed is quite the opposite.

I read it with a perpetual stirring in my gut not knowing which direction Laurel would take. She's still so lost without her Jack and watching her continue to spiral a bit was intensely heartbreaking.
Picking up where we left off in Dirt, I was almost afraid at times what the future could hold for her as she contends with her split from her soulmate as well as the burgeoning and very unexpected connection with Isaac.

Jack, Laurel and Isaac are all in their own sort of pain and I had to wonder just how they might sort out their issues. Jack remains absent and mysterious as Laurel grasps for some sort of normalcy. With Isaac watching in the wings as the third wheel of sorts, it's only a matter of time before each of their worlds goes upside down and back again.

I will just say this: this is Cassia Leo at her very best. She is truly a master of the 'triangle' and this latest of hers had me gasping loudly more than once. She also adds the right amount of lighter moments with the good friends in Drea and Dylan which makes the story a clear winner for me. Hold on tight. This is one intricate journey you won't want to end.

As a reminder, this is book two in the Evergreen trilogy and Dirt must be read before you get to Seed.

Really well done, I give Seed a huge 5 stars!
