The moment Joe meets Kay he is attracted to her, but she's some tree-hugging liberal who doesn’t even believe in the Second Amendment. When the terrorists jeopardize both their lives, they have to work together.

Wow. Just wow.

This book is not typically a book I'd grab and immediately begin reading. When Anne Garboczi Evens asked if I'd be interested in reading and reviewing this book, something urged me to say yes, despite my huge to-be-read stack. Boy, am I glad. Once I began Veiled by Privilege, I literally could not put it down, and stayed up half the night reading.

Joe is a Christian CIA field officer, and is trying to discover intel on the location of an upcoming terrorist attack. Kay is a liberal, atheist, grad student who thinks she knows better than anyone with common sense.

Kay illegally travels to Saudi Arabia with a friend's passport, and quickly realizes that she's not necessarily welcomed into her friend's distant family with opened arms. What she doesn't realize, is that she is pledged to be married to a high-profile terrorist in just a week. Kay loves Islamic culture, almost to a fault. She's so stubborn and blind to the truth, which often frustrated me.

Joe comes from a very conservative, legalistic, home-schooled background. While I didn't feel homeschooling was totally disrespected, I did feel the stereotypical assumptions made about homeschoolers were perpetuated. He is a very intelligent character, and I felt the homeschooling was dwelt on when his positive attributes could have been highlighted instead.

I've never read a Christian fiction book from an atheist's point of view, so that was a really interesting experience. There was significant growth in Joe's character, but I felt Kay could have admitted she was wrong much more often than she did. Her bullheadedness about things really irritated me, but to me, great books evoke strong emotions. I wish more detail would have been given about Joe genuinely trying to share the love of Christ with Kay, and with Kay's search for God.

Veiled by Privilege is fast-paced, thrilling, and powerful, but is not recommended for children. While this is Christian fiction, it deals with some heavy topics and is appropriate for an adult audience.

I received a copy of Veiled by Privilege from Anne Garboczi Evans in exchange for an honest review, which I have provided. I can't wait to read future books in the series.

This was one intense read! If you are looking for a more action-packed and non-explicit suspense and less of an evangelical read, then I’d recommend this book. Joe Csontos is a Christian and often jabbed at for his stereotypical “home-school upbringing.” (This honestly went a little further than I liked). Then Kay Bianchi is a liberal athiest who rejects all forms of religion. I personally wish there could have been more discussion and opportunity for Joe to share his Christian perspective, but with Kay really being the main character her views were shared a bit more. I also wish there was more involved in her conversion to becoming a believer.

This book is a eye-opener for those who are oblivious to the life of Islamic women (and men). The book introduces a few women that come across Kay’s path and you can see just how brainwashed women are into believing they should accept how they are treated. These scenes felt both frustrating and saddening, especially knowing they are a reality.

As with any book where the characters are attempting to flee a foreign country, this book was packed with action as Joe and Kay are on the run to safety. No, I will not spoil any of this other than say that the more danger they face, there seems to be even more around the corner. You’ll just have to read to find out!

*I was given a complimentary copy from the author in the hopes of an honest review.

I liked this book a lot. Because it takes place in the Middle East I found the story to be very exciting. It gives a small glimpse of what life is like in that culture. I enjoyed the fast paced action and adventure in the story. Oh, and the tinge of romance. The only thing negative thing I have to say is that a tad more editing would've made this book a 5 star. It will not stop me from reading the next book though. In fact, I'm looking forward to it!

I'll be honest... when I first began reading this book I thought, this isn't for me. It was far from what I usually read but I was determined to give it my best. I am amazed by this book. Anne Evan's writing is just outstanding. She truly knows how to bring the characters to life! I was so impressed by the whole thing.

I don't know a lot about life outside the US, as this is where I've always lived but this book brought about an interesting look at life in Saudi Arabia. The things those beautiful women go through is just shocking and truly upsetting. And they are taught that it's okay.

This book tells the story of Kay, a naive girl who just wants to complete her PHD and Joe, a military expert who is nothing you'd expect. Kay uses a passport of a friend to get into a foreign country, completely unaware of the customs and danger she is walking into. Joe is there by military assignment and thank God for that since Kay puts herself into more danger than you can ever believe, just by being her American self. The two face danger after danger, life threatening circumstances and so much more.

You will have to read this one to find out what happens but I promise this is not a book you want to pass up. Anne Evans created an unforgettable story with this one.

I need to start off by saying that the author of this book, Anne Evans, is one bold woman!

I always enjoy... and appreciate it... when it is apparent that a lot of research goes into a novel. I must admit, I wasn't too pleased about Kay's deep infatuation with middle eastern culture. It became a bit irritable at times.

I think I do understand where the author was trying to achieve with this obsession though. It reminded me of the saying "The higher you rise the harder the fall". To me it just portrays how hard a fall it was from this perfectly beautiful Islamic world that Kay created in her mind to the actual truths exposed in this book.

I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading about Nadia's story in Veiled by Coercion.

This is a one of a kind suspense story. It has everything: love, action, religion, politics, and of course, there has to be the government agency involved in all of it, or it wouldn’t be believable! It took a great imagination to come up with this one.

I love the personalities of all the characters, well, almost all of them. The only negative is, I did find it hard to keep up with the story, as there was a lot of description and thoughts coming out in the conversations causing me to go back and reread a few times, but other than that it was a smooth read. Not a quick read, but a smooth read. I give it 3 Boundless stars.  It was good.

I honestly was not sure what to expect when I began to read this.
I struggled to connect with the main character, which is generally hard for me. But I loved the writing style, and the storyline was so unique, it had me trapped in the story.
I had to laugh at the homeschool references, the G.A. Henty ones especially had me giggling. The main character may have been stubborn, naive and a bit ignorant for my taste, but I did really enjoy the storyline and the many eye opening experiences that she went through.
I am for sure putting the next book on my wish list to purchase. If you like books that are a bit outside the box, this might be one to pick up.

This book was so good! I loved all the twist and turns. It also taught me how horrible life is in Saudi for women. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book, there is action, romance and adventure! This book is a must read! I will be reading more books by Anne Garboczi Evans.
