The Guards Of Attala #5

Her Alien Defender

Rate this book
Attalan citizen Ramyx is dismayed to discover the Earth woman held captive in the city is his fated mate. If only his brother, the Minister himself, wasn’t the one who held the key to her cage. Or had such dark plans for her future. Will Ramyx’s feelings for his mate overcome his loyalty to his family’s dark legacy?

Natalie’s only concern is escaping and rejoining her crewmates in their mission to save Earth. Exploiting Ramyx’s lust for her seems to be the fastest ticket out of her prison. She’s fine using her body to tempt him into helping her escape, but confusion kicks in when her icy heart starts to warm. Will she be able to say goodbye when the time comes to return to Earth?

This science fiction alien romance is the last in a series that features feisty Earth women, giant alien warriors, and lots of steamy action. They are best read in order.

Wow! That was crazy short. Everything wrapped up with a neat little now but I really wish there had been more to it.

“This is the way the world ends Not with a bang but a whimper.” T.S. Eliot

The Guards of Attala series began with a crash-landing on an ice planet. The all-woman science team that had come to find and extract a rare mineral needed to save earth's sun was now trapped. The City's government sent the Attala Guards to their rescue. Natalie, who was badly injured, was taken to the City for medical treatment - except they wouldn't let her rejoin the others after she healed. Romyx.brother of theCity's corrupt governor, falls in love with her and Yadda, Yadda, Yadda... All the way to a supposed HEA. I'm totally frustrated and let down by this limping conclusion to what might have been an exciting story. There's no romance, just alien insta-lust on his part and Stockholm Syndrome desperation on hers. The big conspiracy to derail the human expedition? Who knows. Plot line left abandoned. The fate of the women mated to the rebel Attalan Guards? Plottis interruptus. The hidden rebellion of Attalan scientists? Storyline aborted. The outcome of the mission to save the sun? Push-button fixall. Author Mira Maxwell is clearly SO over this series, and those who read this book will be too. I received an ARC of this book and this is my uncompensated independent opinion.

Since the first book the excitement was built for this book. Natalie-whose been missing for the previous 4 books will finally have her story and we can see why she was being hidden and what was happening to her. But when the reality came I was so disappointed. Not only does literally nothing happen (the whole time Months I think) she's just locked in a room. Say what:?

All this buildup for this book and it was beyond short. Literally maybe an hours worth of material if that, it was so short I can't even remember. It was as if this was the outline and the author forgot to flesh out the story. What was the point of the series if everything is just wrapped up and there's basically no development of either the character or story line?.

If an author can wash their hands of a book to just finish it up, this story would be a perfect example. I feel let down. I loved the entire series and this story just didn't blend with the rest.

There's really no point in giving a full review because there will be nothing left for you to discover on your own. If you've read and loved this series and none of this turns you off by all means finish. But I'm left here wishing for a way better wrap up to the series.

No Way Home 🌎

This is the story about Natalie, one of the crew of five human women astronauts who crash landed on the frozen planet of Attalan. The books about the adventures of the other women have been written and published.

Some of the fierce and protective Attalan Warriors who protect the perimeter of the walled city have found a mate among the human women. They have also broken away from the laws of the leaders in the city and have taken over a remote outpost.
As warriors, they have super enhancements, given to them in exchange for never having a mate, or wife, Or so the ruling class thought!
A War is Coming.....
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As she recovers from her broken leg in the walled city, Natalie👩 realizes she's a prisoner. Sure, the room is beautiful, the furnishings deluxe, but the window is a screen showing a virtual scene, not reality, and the door is locked.
She is separated from her friends and crewmates and unable to communicate with them, either.
Just as Natalie👩 has had enough and ready to throw a fit, a woman comes with a dress💃 for her to wear and an invitation to dine with the Attalan minister.👹

The minister👹 is a vain, conceited, secretive man, and Natalie👩 almost immediately gets into a argument with him about the whereabouts of the other human women.

His brother, Ramyx🐺, is a much kinder man. He offers to escort Natalie👩💋 on a tour of the city.
Ramyx🐺🍆🌋 sees his mate in Natalie👩💋, he is mesmerized by her. He never thought it could or would be like that for him.

But his conniving brother, the minister👹, has other plans for Natalie👩💋, she will be HIS unwilling mate💔.

The minister👹 is never letting the human women go back to 🌎Earth with the Eclaydian mineral they need to save the 🌞Sun.
The Attalans need the Eclaydian just as much as 🌎Earth does and they needed the Warriors🐺🔪🔫 and the scientists to work together to find it and refine it.
As long as Natalie👩 is under the minister's control, she will always be a prisoner.

ARC Received for a,Voluntary and Honest Review.

I really liked this book📑. It's much different than the previous 📚books in the series, which all take place in the wilds of Attalan. This one has more intrigue, more secrecy, and more insight into the alien 🌎world and the people that inhabit it.

These couples move fast once they meet one another and Ramyx and Natalie are no exception. He sees her, he knows she's the one, he takes steps to get her out of his brother's clutches.

So, yeah, things move fast, but that's sort of the charm between the Attalans and the Earth woman, isn't it? They get down, they get dirty, they do some crazy things to stay together.

That said, the Minister's sinister designs on the human women is revealed and it's not good. Not for them, not for Earth, and CERTAINLY not for Natalie. Because ewww. Ramyx steps in and does one of those crazy things and all the issues over what the mated women will do now that they've completed their mission get ironed out. Which is fantastic because otherwise there would be a lot of dangling threads.

Anyway. Aliens, humans, sexy times. Whether those sexy times take place on an alien planet or up in space, they are appreciated.

I do love the escapism of a science fiction story; especially with the come with hot aliens, fated mates, and human females. Some grab some popcorn WITH dark chocolate bits, your favorite beverage and dig in. To the story that is because we have our hero, heroine, bad guy, and pressure on our hero when he’s forced to make the decision between family and forever love.

Which would you choose?

“Her Alien Defender” is the final story in the Guards of Attala series and I was hoping the story would go out with more of a bang than a whimper. While yes, there are indeed breathy whimpers in this story, the ending was a bit on the lackluster side and my inquisitive side would have liked to read an ending that tied up the loose ends better. All that said, the story has all the elements for good storytelling and gives us that much needed HEA.

They're determined to save Earth

But none of the human woman in this mission were never in a position to find out why the powers that be on Attala were being so cooperative. Natalie finds herself healing from injuries received during their initial crash landing in the city, and while their discovers the answers the rest of the team have been unable to find out in the field.

I'm sorry to see this series end. With so much interesting world building, with the wanderers, Adox, the guard vs. those in the city, this is a rich and vibrant world, and this final installment provides a very satisfying conclusion, even as it leaves me wishing there was more.

I wasn't expecting this to be such a short story. Even though I have been waiting for Natalie's story to get answers about the mission. The story it self just felt rushed, I mean I got the answer and closure I need it but then again maybe I was expecting a little bit more. Overall enjoyable and entertaining read had some suspenseful moments, action, and of course steamy romance. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

I really enjoyed the overall series but this one seemed to be slightly abrupt. I loved the characters but I simply thought there would be more to it. i thought for sure we would get to see more of the interactions between Ramyx and Natalie and/or their journey to the outpost where their allies were. don't get me wrong things were resolved very well and very completely. we even got to see the birth of Diana's baby at the very end which was sweet. I still definitely recommend this one as an end to a great series.

Writing was good on this short 🚀sci-fi 💗romance that finished up a series. I did not read the previous stories in the series but that posed no problem in following the plot. Some not too graphic🔥 steam and a bit of adversity to overcome. Easy read for a short break with an ending that provides a satisfying resolution.:-)

I read a complimentary copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I received an ARC from the author and I'm willingly leaving a review. Worth 2.5 stars, rounded up.
Good story but a bit of a letdown concerning details; it's also very rush-rush. Too many repeats for such a short story. This last book reminds me of the last book in the other serials I read with this same author. It's like she's no longer interested in the people, doesn't know how to fix the ending, and ends-up missing important parts along the way. We know so little of Ramyx's & Natalie's story, why add something from Diana's? This end completely missed the bang.

This is the last book in the "Guards of Attala" series. If you haven't read the others, I suggest you read them before this one. I have been waiting for Natalie's story and answers about the "mission". While there is "closure", this story is much shorter and faster than the other four. I enjoyed Natalie and Ramyx but wish there had been a little "more".

Great story. His brother has his mate and has not good plans for her. He wants to save her and she wants to use him to get away. Things don't always work out that way when you start to have feelings for them that now has you confused on whether to go back to earth. Exciting, suspenseful, hot and so much more. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Great series

This give part series tracks the earth women who venture to an alien planet to find a way to save our sun. The warriors assigned to protect them have been sworn to celibacy . That doesn't last as they fall in love one by one. Interesting political situation and things are not what they appear. I read all the books on a day i needed to rest and be entertained.

Finish the series..

You can always tell when an author gets bored of a series and just wants to be done. The book suffers. I'd have rather waited another couple of months or even a year for a compleat book instead of a hastily thrown together book.

Good, but moved too fast

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I was looking forward to the final book, but I felt it was lacking. It wasn't long enough, everything just ran together. I did enjoy it over all. Definitely worth the read.

Natalie didn't end up having it as well as her crew mates had originally thought. With the plot that was hidden under the gesture of help from the Minister of this planet, she needed to find a way to get back to the other women. Ramyx may be her only hope, but can she trust him? I wanted a little more of these two. I had been waiting for this final book so all the questions could be answered. There was one thing I wondered about but it wasn't enough to take away from the ending. I found this to be a great ending to this series. *I was gifted an Arc for an honest review.*
