Shawn P. B. Robinson hails from the Great White North, and he suspects his dislike of cold and snow is part of what drives him to immerse himself in other worlds. Whether he’s writing epic fantasy or middle-grade humor, he passionately pours his heart into his writing, seeking to create characters that we can all relate to and stories that engage the heart and soul.

In Shawn’s early 40s, he contracted a viral infection in his brain (encephalitis) which left him unable to work a normal job, but able to write when he has energy. In the midst of such loss, Shawn’s family, faith, and writing have brought joy to his heart and continue to motivate him.

Shawn continues to make his home in SW Ontario with his beautiful wife, two sons, and three goldfish.

Okay, I have to say that this is one of those books that either you hate it or you love it. I mean based on the humor alone it should be a terrible book because there's a lot of potty humor and there is no logic to anything that happens in this book. Maybe it's because I needed some silly distraction right now, but I couldn't stop giggling when I read this book. I should have been rolling my eyes and saying, "Okay, okay, I get it, you're making another bathroom joke." I should have been screaming, "This doesn't make any sense!" But instead I was laughing out loud because it was all so ridiculously silly. I previously read Jerry the Squirrel: Volume Two by this author and it was similar humor and the graphics were pretty funny. I really enjoyed that one and it made me want to give this author a second look. But I thought this story was more fully developed and it actually makes me want to go back in and read some of the other books in the series. This a great book when you need a distraction from more serious reads or from the crazy things that are happening in the world right now. I read the intro and realized that this author was suffering from encephalitis and basically wrote this while he was recovering in his hospital bed. So that may partly account for the absurdity that is in this book. But I also read Jerry the Squirrel so some of that is just him, ha! Well done Shawn Robinson. I was definitely entertained!

Thanks to #ShawnPBRobinson and #Booksirens for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a book that had me laughing regularly which was a complete and welcome surprise since I had not expected that from a book about sword fighting! The creatures were a delight in this book. This was just a really enjoyable book that I want to get on with the next book in the series, so if you'll excuse me, that's where I'm headed! Enjoy the book!

A fantastic book that is great for early readers and teens or to be read aloud to younger kids. The story is filled with adventure, suspense more adventure and fun. Kids (and adults) will laugh out loud throughout in this edge of your seat fantasy adventure

AWE-some story

This reminds me of the Naked Gun movies with Leslie Nielsen, except our hero is the only normal person; the rest of the world is somewhat odd. The result has some very funny things, suspense, danger, and surprises. Very nice book to read.

As far as children's fantasy goes, this is definitely something they would love.
As far as I see it from a 15 yr old perspective, I wish this was around when I was younger.

The Key Quest is a fun adventure in Arestana, the funniest fantasy world I have ever read. It is filled with the funnest animals and ways of defeating the monsters. Instead of killing them, there's always another way to do it. Shawn has a really fun writing style that forms it all perfectly in your head. I hope he goes to YA soon because his writing is so fun. It was like a huge dad joke book. I know the author and he is a dad, so this is probably why everything in the book was that "Why am I laughing and finding this funny?" humor.

Shawn, you have introduced a very fun world to my head. I hope to read the next book eventually. I read this in one day and I have zero regrets.

The author gave me an advanced copy in turn for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book! I found myself getting absorbed into the adventure in a world called Arestana and laughing out loud as I read. I know it’s for middle grade aged kids (and I’m an adult), but it was just so much fun to read.

He is pulled into a strange world where he will need to go on a quest to find a lost key. He will be joined on this quest with different people. Follow them as they try to find the lost key and for a way to get back home. Can he do both? See how he gets on

Amazing epic children's adventure with the feel of C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien! I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to others!

This is a hilarious story. The story is rather absurd and completely ridiculous. It shouldn't work, but it does.

I was looking for a good middle-grade adventure book and decided to give this one a shot. I'm so glad I did! Right away I was hooked, as the main character was pulled into a strange new world (I won't tell you how. You'll just have to read to find out.). The story moves along at a rate that will keep you interested and absorbed. I really enjoyed the way the characters interacted and found myself laughing and smirking at the humor the author uses. A fun ride from start to finish. A great addition to any middle-grade classroom. I can't wait to continue the adventures and will be buying the next books in the series.
