Rate this book
An adventure in Africa is just what Ace Stone desperately needs to finally pursue independent wealth and avoid questions from British and American Government Agencies relating to the illegal antics of his much needed, but shady client base.

West Africa and the Sahara Desert bring sanctuary but a fierce heat of their own in more ways than one. Ace is taken aback by his spiritual connection to Africa’s ancient warrior ancestors, which force him to examine and question his own existence.

Ace later comes face to face with the extremely brutal side of greed and the darkest side of human nature in the conflict diamond trade of Sierra Leone, bringing to question the business of war and the consequences of his choices.

The balancing act of freewill comes to a head as Ace must risk a path of self-destruction in order to stay at the top of his game.

This book was fascinating. Book three The Unexpected Return from the Ace Stone Adventure series is a serious read. The humor is there, the riveting twists and turns are also there, but there is a deep and meaningful journey that is almost spiritual for our hero Ace Stone. The fun and games of his criminal past bring a feeling of levelling his experiences, tipping the scale so to say, to show the other side - the dark side of greed and murder that are committed daily in Africa and mostly all are in the name of profit. The story takes us to Africa and the history of the blood diamond trade that has been a sore point of history for a long time in this region. Price weaves the history of the original tribe's people and the rape of the country by those who only see profit at any cost.
This is a truly fascinating process to watch when a man has to come face to face with his demons and his decisions through other people's actions. For those that are curious, Ace doesn't kill anyone in his journey of life and money so far, but he is around people that do, and their attitude towards what they do is both extremely cold and calculating.
However, the book does show that not only Ace learns of a far deeper compassion and spiritual connection to the ancient Africa within him, but when a horrific act of murder occurs in one of the villages, the most surprising act of compassion comes from a person he least expects.
Don't misunderstand me, the book is not depressing - quite the contrary - I learned so much from this story, that for me this was a turning point in my reading of the series where I felt that Ace becomes of age - that not everything in life revolves around money and even though he knows there's a cost to success and the choice's one makes in life - this story took Ace to a far deeper and a more meaningful level to the consequences that went far beyond his experiences to date.

A fascinating and very moving read that makes me wonder what Price will bring to the future series because this book, like the previous two books in the series was simply brilliant!

The pace changes here as our hero, Ace Stone matures and finds his spiritual connections. Let's just say that Stone visits Africa and is awakened. Now it's not the haunting spirit of The Veiled Lady that follows him but the ancestral spirits of the deserts that lead him through his journey into the mines and the blood diamond saga that Africa is known for.

Rivetting and still with that unique touch of humor that on the author can deliver, this is the most important chapter in Ace Stone's life yet.

This trilogy is a must read.
