This book has four stories in it, one where Henry creates his own version of a school newspaper, another about his brother stealing the theme he wanted for his birthday, one about Henry playing headmaster with his friends and Henry cheating at a board game. Would be great as a free reading book as many children would enjoy reading about Henry's mischievous ways and he is a classic anti-hero that can capture children’s imagination. The themes in this particular book are particularly good as you could use Henry's example to encourage children to make their own newspapers, though emphasise how the gossip and made up stories in Henry's newspaper are perhaps not the practices to emulate!

I look at the books I read now and think how did I get from book like Horrid Henry which are so funny and great to read to books like Divergent and Hunger games which can be really dark and are full of all kinds of killing and sometimes gore?

Na tę książkę składają się cztery opowiadania, każde z nich zawiera odrębną historię. Głównym bohaterem jest oczywiście Karolek, którego nazywają Koszmarnym Karolkiem przez jego zachowanie. Pierwsze opowiadanie jest o tym jak brat głównego bohatera wydaje gazetę szkolną i Karolek wpada na pomysł by wydać swoją pełną kłamliwych informacji, a przy okazji zarobić na tym pieniądze.
Drugie to historia gdzie dzieci bawią się u sąsiadki Wrednej Wandzi w szkołę. Oczywiście Karolek najchętniej wprowadziłby swoje zasady w tej zabawie i wolałby być dyrektorem a nie uczniem. Jednak to wcale takie łatwe nie jest wiec trzeba jakoś się wymiksować z tej zabawy.
Trzecie opowiadanie to urodziny młodszego brata Karolka, czyli Doskonałego Damianka, a tematem przewodnim imprezy mają być piraci. Główny bohater marzył, że to jego urodziny będą o takiej tematyce i stara się przekonać młodszego brata by zrezygnował z tego pomysłu. Jednak, gdy Karolek wie, że i tak bal piratów się odbędzie to musi jakoś zepsuć tę imprezę.
I ostatnia tytułowa historia, czyli napad na bank. Koszmarny Karolek, Wredna Wandzia i Doskonały Damianek grają w grę Dopadnę Cię (coś podobnego do gry w Monopol). Jak się można domyślić Karolek za wszelką cenę chce wygrać, jednak jak to zrobić skoro to nie on zarządza bankiem.
Z Karolkiem poznałam się już wiele lat temu. Bodajże będą w podstawówce wypożyczyłam jakąś część z tej serii w bibliotece i przeczytałam w przeciągu jednego popołudnia, na następny dzień poszłam oczywiście po kolejne tomy. Pamiętam, że wtedy byłam zachwycona tymi książkami, pomysłami Karolka na rozrabianie. Lubiłam ten dziecięcy świat, szkoła, zabawy. Radość sprawiało mi również to, że te książeczki czytało się naprawdę bardzo szybko. Mają dużą czcionkę, idealną dla młodszych czytelników, książka jest krótka i zawiera w sobie cztery odrębne historie.
Wracając do tej serii po dobrych kilkudziesięciu latach mam też trochę inne przemyślenia. Bardziej doceniam grafikę w książce i zawarty w niej humor. Jednak rzuciło mi się w oczy to, że Koszmarny Karolek nie ponosi żadnych konsekwencji za swoje zachowanie. I ze względu na to chyba nie chciałabym by moje dziecko za szybko sięgnęło po tę książkę. Zdaje sobie również sprawę, że nie wszyscy zwrócą na to uwagę. Mi kilka lat temu to zupełnie nie przeszkadzało, a i też nie sprawiło, że moje zachowanie się zmieniło.
Książkę polecam starszym dzieciom powyżej dziesiątego roku życia, ale zdaje sobie też sprawę, że w dzisiejszych czasach gdzie od małego jest komputer, telefon i internet, to, że główny bohater nie ponosi odpowiedzialności za swoje wybryki to nic. Warto zwrócić uwagę na przykład na bajki, jakie oglądają nasze dzieci, bo tam też nie raz bohaterom uchodzi na sucho złe zachowanie, więc jeśli miałabym wybierać to już wolę by mój syn sięgną po tę książkę.

"Koszmarny Karolek" to seria, która od prawie 30 lat rozbawia najmłodszych Czytelników. To aż 38 książeczek opowiadających o przygodach niesfornego chłopca o imieniu Karol. 26 stycznia Wydawnictwo Znak Emotikon postanowiło wznowić serię i przypomnieć o największych koszmarkach rodzicielstwa i dzieciństwa.
"Koszmarny Karolek i napad na bank" zawiera 4 krótkie historyjki. Książeczkę czytaliśmy przez 4 dni z dziećmi. Wercia ma 6 lat, a Karol ma ponad 3. Muszę przyznać, że Koszmarny Karolek, to bardzo inteligentny młody chłopczyk, który ma masę pomysłów. Jego rodzice widzą je jako te złe, młodzi Czytelnicy jako bardzo śmieszne, a ja jako pretekst do rozmowy. Śmiechu mieliśmy co nie miara. A późniejsze rozmowy ze starszą córką były bardzo dojrzałe jak na jej wiek i postrzeganie świata.
Z książeczki tej dowiedzieliśmy się, że dziecięca wyobraźnia nie ma końca i dzieci są w stanie wiele wymyślić. Muszę zaznaczyć, że w książeczce tej nie znajdziecie telefonów komórkowych i innych elektronicznych gadżetów, z którymi mają styczność nasze dzieci. W tych książkach dzieci bawią się ze sobą. Często dochodzi do słownych przepychanek, kłótni, oszukiwania czy nawet bójek. Tutaj dzieci nie mają wszystkiego. Na coś wymarzonego muszą zapracować, jak w pierwszym rozdziale, gdzie dzieciaki postanawiają wydać swoje gazety, by zdobyć pieniążki na wymarzoną zabawkę. W książeczce Autorka przedstawiła również różne losowe sytuacje, w których możemy zaobserwować jak nasze dzieci by się zachowały, jak na nie reagują. My podczas czytania wiele rozmawialiśmy na dane tematy. Dzieciaki ochoczo wtrącały się ze swoim zdaniem. Wskazywały co jest złe, a co dobre. Jak same (Weronika) by się zachowały.
Sama książeczka jest ładnie wydana. W środku mamy duże litery i rysunki. To idealna pozycja dla dzieci, które zaczynają przygodę z czytaniem. Rozdziały nie są długie, dzięki czemu dzieci podczas czytania się nie zanudzają. Autorka napisała książeczkę bardzo prostym językiem, takim by trafiał do młodego Czytelnika. Ta pozycja to idealna lektura, dzięki której możemy aktywnie czytać. Chodzi mi o te późniejsze rozmowy. Ja jestem zachwycona i w miarę możliwości będę sięgać po interesujące mnie wydania.

This book series is super nostalgic for me, as I listened to the audiobooks growing up, but this book in particular came out after I had aged out of the target demographic, so the 4 stories it contains are new to me. I think the audiobooks are the overall superior medium for this series, as the narrator goes all-in, but the books have great illustrations so its a trade off.
2 of the 4 stories are solid. The first story is the strongest, as it features all the classic characters from Henry's school life, and the fake newspapers the kids write to libel each other are hilarious. The third story is a classic Horrid Henry scenario, Henry's brother steals his idea for a pirate-themed birthday, so Henry tells him a scary pirate story about a cursed ghost pirate and then terrorizes the party disguised as said ghost pirate.
The second and fourth stories just feature Horrid Henry and Moody Margaret playing games at each others houses and being mean to each other. The usual humor is there but nothing particularly gripping happens. The book titles comes from Henry stealing monopoly money to cheat and win. Riveting stuff.

Another gift from my niece. I did chuckle reading the ideas and things kids come up with but rather an uncomfortable read. Painfull children they are. Back to my adult books 📚 😌

I had already read the first two chapters of this book in separate story's so this was an easy read. I always enjoy the Horrid Henry series books and this was no exception.
