Kinney Brothers #2

To Fall for Winter

Rate this book
From the author of Holly Freakin' Hughes comes a gritty love story about acceptance and the beauty of being different."You think I'm ready to ruin you forever?""Oh, Ireland... You've already ruined me forever."I’ve been called the Black Sheep. Troublemaker. And probably a dozen other words that are nowhere near that nice. My past is checkered. Full of questionable choices and even worse outcomes. But I’ve put it behind me. I’m on the straight and narrow now. For two years, I've towed the line. Stayed out of trouble. Kept my head above water. And have not made even one reckless decision. But then Snow came to River Canyon on the first day of winter. Inked, pierced, and unafraid of speaking her mind, and going after what she wants, she made me an offer I couldn't refuse.Together, I knew we would make a mess. I just couldn't keep myself from getting dirty.

When I was a wee lassie, I was told by my preschool teachers that I was a natural at storytelling. When I was just a little older than that, an old friend's mother said to me, "Kelsey, one day your books are going to be on the shelves at the library."

Well, Diane, I don't know if my books are ever going to be on the shelves of libraries, but I'm sure as hell going to try.

When I'm not writing stories destined to be bestsellers, I enjoy devouring TV shows, listening to every type of music there is and going to concerts, reading pretty much anything (with a soft spot for romance and certain books located in 18th century Scotland), obsessing over makeup, and pretending to workout.

I also have a fondness for cats, my family, tattoos, and a really good French fry.

Well - that was adorable. And moving and sweet and funny and beautiful!

Ryan and Snow are both so different from everybody else. But that's just the outside. All that ink and metal. But on the inside they're just like everyone else. They just want to belong, to be loved. To get over whatever happened to them in the past, to get married and have a family of their own. Just like everybody else. I just adored those two.

Great romance. Great characters. I just love the Kinney family. Can't wait to read Sean's book next!

To Fall for Winter was a sweet, sexy and a little angsty story about two people who are a little different than the norm and because of that they always felt like they never belonged anywhere until they find each other.

Each of them has their own issues and hang ups over stuff that happened in the past and it's those hang ups that have stopped them from being happy and from letting themselves be who they are and open up to new opportunities, new experiences, new relationships.
However, as soon as Snow accidentally enters the vet where Ryan works instead of the tattoo shop where she will be working, they both know their lives will never be the same.

Snow is badass who is not afraid to say or do what she wants, or even thinks twice about getting what she craves. Ryan just so happen to fall into that last category. Let's be honest he never stood a chance against her, nor did he want to. She held him by the balls but he needed it, he craved it too. Snow blasted into his life in a flash and completely changed his whole life. In just a few short weeks, she invaded his life, his home and his beautiful yet wounded heart. And he never stood a chance, he let her do what she wanted and he enjoyed her and her little quirks and how she made him feel. She helped him overcome his past in a way, made him feel like he belonged.

Snow and Ryan's story was a beautiful sweet story about love between two people who needed it and deserved it after all they had been through. Once again Kelsey wrote beautifully and gave us amazing and unique characters that fit in the most wonderful way. I might not have loved Ryan's story as much as Patrick's but I loved it nevertheless and am super excited for Sean's book.

In book 2 we get Ryan's story! The "black sheep" of the family. A big guy with a big heart.

Enter Snow and she changes his world. Can they work together, are they good at teamwork?

Near perfect. A rare find among the heartbreaking novels that I know will forever be on my shelf.

From the authors note, to the last 'full stop' this story was both torture [to my heart] and a warmth of characters I didn't know I needed.

I have no words to explain the intensity and adoration I have for this book. To Fall for Winter will be a story you will not expect. There were so many moments, even from the first point of contact, were Snow and Ryan made me place my kindle down, and read over the last sentence to make sure I read it correctly the first time. This is in the best possible way.

Adoring a connection between characters is one thing, but not expecting how much you will miss them when you reach the end?! My fucking god...

I think I was too attached to the character to help myself now.

Heartbreaking.

Dark.

Sweet.

Intense.

Emotional.

Sexy.

Fun.

One of a kind - would that come close in giving it some justice?

Well picture this. A tattooed alpha with a softness to him that is not out-shined by his possessiveness to what is his.

And a girl that does not hold back, has a mind of her own (something far too many fear to express) and has a hard heart of gold.

Almost two opposites, being connected and attracted to one another not just through their INSANE chemistry, but their broken pasts and emotional turmoil.

I loved every aspect of this story. I could NOT get enough of their dialogue, the moments that they said as much if not more than they gave. The tattoos - Ah i love my men with tattoos. And that biker? If I had Snow's guts, I also would have sat in the freezing weather sitting on his bike, waiting for that beautiful soul to finish work... *cough* *smiles innocently*

One thing is for certain though. When a book makes your heart bleed at the same time that it is adding a heart melting smile on your face, and blush to your cheeks as if you have sinned - all in one? Yeah. You know you found a keeper!

I can't wait to read more of your work Kelsey Knigsley!

I can't say enough good things about Snow and Ryan. I thought I'd chosen my Kinney brother in Patrick. And that my favorite pairing from their fictional town was Patrick and his Kinsey... and then Snow and Ryan happened.
So now I'm cheating on one brother with the other! #booktramp spoiler; I have room for Seanie next

And don't get me started on how much I loved Ryan's granny! Secondary characters or even ones that just pop up now and then within a story and make an impact are just the best. And granny is one.

I'm definitely on Team Kinney and hope this series goes on for many books to come.

Those little words that should have been by all accounts red flags after only knowing her for a week, but nah, my heart just pounded into her naked back, trying desperately to push itself beyond all of that feckin’ skin and bone. To make itself at home in her chest, next to hers, where I suddenly felt was the only place I truly ever belonged.

I wasn't sure Kelsey Kingsley would be able to top One Night to Fall, but she did it again! I loved Ryan. Even though he was the black sheep of the family in many ways, I loved him from the start. Snow fit him perfectly and while she felt the same way, they somehow fit perfectly for each other. This was another Kelsey Kingsley book I read in a day and I hope for many many more!

“I’ve never really belonged anywhere before.” I knew exactly what she meant, and I kissed her lower lip. “It’s nice, isn’t it?”

We once again get to visit the small town of River Canyon with book 2 of the Kinney Brothers. Ryan Kinney is a bit of a black sheep of the family always pushing boundaries and never really owning up to the consequences. Finally, when another failed relationship pushes him back to his family for help he is ready to clean up his act and start being responsible. After 2 years of staying on the straight and narrow his world is turned upside down when Snow wanders into his job. She is unapologetic for who she is and what she says, wants and feels. For Ryan it was obvious that one night with her could ruin the progress he’s made however, he throws caution to the wind and decides to do it anyways.

I was a big fan of the first book with Patrick and Kinsey (and they’re still my favorite). But Ryan and Snow were the perfect match for each other. Snow had an uncanny way of seeing right through Ryan and knew right when to push to get him to open up. As much as Ryan was hoping to do the same with Snow she was still determined to hold back. I really enjoyed Snow and her no-nonsense attitude not caring about what other people think and at the same time being the sweet caring person you just want to fall in love with. Ryan was certainly a catch and exactly what Snow needed however at times I found him to be a bit too emotional for my taste, I don’t think you always need an alpha male but I like my book boyfriends to be a little tougher.

This is a sweet HEA with very little angst or drama with characters that are easy to relate to. So if you’re looking for a light read with characters that can make you smile and at the same time remember you can never judge a book by it’s cover than this one is for you….but don’t forget to check out book 1 to meet Patrick and Kinsey.

Kelsey Kingsley gets better with every book. I wish I could rate it more than 5 stars. The Kinney Brothers are back as well as the town of River Canyon. I wish it wasn't make believe. I wish I could visit this charming town and all the lovable characters in it. I though Patrick and Kinsey Kinney were my favorite love story for this town, but Patrick's brother, Ryan, and his love interest, Snow, have given them quite the competition. This story was expertly woven with all the feels and all the stick in your heart one-liners that Kingsley is already famous for. Here are some of my favorites:

"Maybe that's all any relationship was, I thought; finding your own flavor of insanity to complement your own."

"That was being with winter. My kind of crazy."

"Ireland, you've already ruined me forever."

"That wintery world I had made a home inside of had locked me out, and I was freezing."

"Our erratic personalities clashing, sending sparks everywhere we turned, and we burnt the world around us to the ground. Ashes left in our wake, the fragmented shards of our sanity littering the place."

"Two unconventional people, trying to sprout their wings in a world of people wanting them to change. That's what we were. Feck the world."

I have a confession. I have a new book boyfriend. Ryan Kinney has my heart. He is broken and so negative about himself, I just want to hug him, love him and never let him go. He overthinks and analyzes everything because of his mistakes in the past. Being the "blacksheep", "opposite" of his brothers, never really figuring out himself, he comes across as the loner/troublemaker in town. But deep down, he really is a sweet guy, not wanting to disappoint the people he loves. It was really touching to see him realizing and falling in love with Snow. Snow, I love that name, on the outside, she looks like the "troublemaker"(what society considers sometimes) but she is really sweet and loves to be in love but she was hurt in the past before, so she guards her heart. Their HEA isn't typical, its perfect and it was so 'Ireland and Snow.'

I loved this story. I'm glad to see Patrick and Kinsey had a baby. I love those two. I love that Sean made more of an appearance in this book. I can't wait for his story. The blurb makes me want more!!!!!

MORE! MORE! MORE!

This was a wonderful book, but I wish that it included Snow’s POV also. I would have liked to hear what she thought of Ryan when she met him. But, Ryan’s side was told really well. Who wouldn’t love a guy that has tattoos, a beard, and rides a motorcycle? And, Ms. Kingsley still includes Kinsey and Patrick as their family grows and life moves on. Also, love how the author writes with the Irish accent! Just makes the book more authentic. Onto the third book, which focuses on Sean...

Ryan and Snow❄💖❄💙

Kelsey Kingsley is such an amazing and talented author. Her romances are raw, real, and emotional, and there is so much depth to her characters. In this second Kinney Brothers novel, I have come to love Ryan and Snow, just as much as I love Patrick and Kinsey from Book One. My heart swelled and hurt so much for Ryan who saw himself as nothing but a disappointment. Then he meets Snow, a woman who spent so much of her young life with a man who was only concerned with himself and his needs. With Ryan, she truly sees him and the man he really is, not as a project that needs to be fixed. To Ryan, Snow is a wintry breeze in a sexy, "say what you will" pint-sized package. LOL!

I love Ms. Kingsley's writing. It's spell-bounding, so beautiful, and makes me feel so much for these two characters. Here's an excerpt from two of my favorite scenes:

"I thought for a minute that I was looking at her soul, and it was comfortable and warm. Like coming in from the freezing cold, and I swore I felt the feeling of pins and needles pass through my fingers and toes as I thawed out. A heavy breath passed between my lips. The rest of my self-doubt, self-loathing . . . It left my body, left my lungs, and the air I breathed was clean. Fresh.

'You just fell in love with me.'

Her quiet voice pulled me from my world within her eyes, and I saw her face. Her soft pink lips, her white skin. I cleared my throat. 'How can you even know?'

'Because I let you in.'

. . .When her eyes finally looked up to mine, allowing me into that wintry world of ice and cozy warmth, I settled in, smiling. Mentally wrapping myself in the blanket I kept there, next to the fire I had built, embracing all of the chaotic unpredictability of being in love with her. That was being withwinter. My kind of crazy."

Wow. Just wow. Both of these characters have troubled pasts and have made a lot of mistakes. What I loved most about Ryan and Snow is that they were able to look past what others see as different, or crazy, if you will, and just accept each other just as they are. Another great book by the awesome Kelsey Kingsley.😊

Everyone read this book now!!!

If you didn’t fall in love with Patrick when you read his story get ready!
Omg I am just so in love with Ryan and Snow.
I do not know where to start as I am gushing!
Most romances have some kind of arc or a jealous ex or a wannabe ex that tries to ruin a story.
This book is just about these two wonderful characters and what they go through apart and together.
I true love story that isn’t conventional but works so feckin well (see what I did there)!
I will probably read it over and over again.
My fav is this strong female character that instead of needing help sort-of in her own way is the hero.
Just blown away by this story and how our male character finds what he truly loves!
Everyone go read this now after you read about Patrick first please and thank you

My kind of crazy

I thought that the first book in this series was perfect, but this one is even more so.

Ireland, aka Ryan and Snow, whose real name is only revealed at the very end of the book, are unconventional, both in looks and actions.

They moved in together after knowing each other for two weeks. She insists on total honesty but reveals nothing of her own past. He’s living in his Granny’s basement and letting his parents manage his bills for him.

But oh, how I love this couple. They make my heart sing with their perfect imperfections. They are just meant for each other, like the other half of their souls. They get each other in a way that no one else would.

This is a gem of a book. I thought Patrickinney was the perfect man, but I think Ireland tops him, in his own way. I can’t wait to see if Sean changes my mind again in the next book in the series.

Oh my gosh! This book...

This story will leave you with so many smile.

I really enjoyed Snow and Ryan’s story. I love Kelsey’s voice. I love the way she weaves words to create, to build this wonderful tale of two “unconventional” people who complement each other and are able to heal and build each other up.

How she’s able to reach inside her characters and pull out their humanity, their voice. Her words are soft and gentle as she tells their stories, creating this soft cocoon of warmth, unconditional love, acceptance.

I have truly loved this series and am sad there are aren’t anymore brothers left with stories to tell, lol.

Everyone deserves to find their happy

I absolutely love Ryan and Snow. They’re unique and weird and quirky. I love how Snow sweeps into his life and shows him it’s ok to be who he is. She shows him how to be happy with himself and really wakes him up again.

Ryan is a precious little weirdo kind of stuck in his life. He’s been scarred in the past and now he’s just sort of stuck, until Snow comes to town.

I loved watching them share their pasts with each other and truly become happy together. Happy in themselves and their relationship.

I want to be a Kinney!

Oh these Kinney boys! I thought I had it bad for Patrick until I met Ryan! Wow! Ryan is the polar opposite of the good guy next door, yet he still has all the swoon effect in the bad boy with the tattoos. And when Snow comes to town it is game over for Ryan. She’s such a mysterious beauty that’s guarded but let’s Ryan have peeks into her hidden vulnerability. Once they get their proverbial poop together their passion is something to behold.

Tats o' love

Kelsey is breaking rules, breaking stereotypes, and kicking ass at it! I think I said this on my first Kelsey review, and my second, and I'm going to again. She has broken the mold in romance with the strongest and freshest breath of air! Snow and Ry were no exception. The depth, the humor, the subtle superficial but equally deep connection they have. I loved every inch of this beautifully crafted story. This is a must read.

If you are looking for a steamy romance between a bad boy with a big heart and a lady with piercings, tattoos and a fondness for Irish men-you will appreciate this love story. There isn’t a ton of romance, I would consider this more lusty than lovey, but an easy read and it was a nice twist of characters. I appreciated the spark between Snow and Ryan, but I’m a fan of their Irish family and adding Grandma to the character list was one of my favorite storyline moves.

Fast paced with interesting characters

Love a good book series. Kinney Bros is proving to be just that. I think I would have liked to go more into Snows background and perhaps one more conflict arising from that background before the finale. Why? I don’t know but I think that’s a formula I’m used to or maybe it’s just that I wasn’t ready for their story to finish. Now onto the next Kinney brother....

Ryan Kinney is the focus of the second book in the Kinney Brothers series. As one of the younger twin brothers, Ryan is different than his siblings with his dyed hair, tattoos, and tendency to find trouble. After two years of playing the straight and narrow and trying not to disappoint, he finds his perfect match in the new girl to town, Snow. Their story is a fast, crazy love story. Loving this Kelsey Kingsley series and the Kinney brothers.

So so so good

Loved this. I loved that Ryan had issues but they were explored and explained in a funny and compassionate way. I loved that Snow was almost stronger than Ryan. She took no shit and wasn't afraid to call him out. Together they were sexy and delicious. All praise for the Irishness of the speech and characterisation 😀

Teamwork... It's what makes a good relationship.

"Two unconventional people, trying to sprout their wings in a world of people wanting them to change."
Ryan, is the bad boy and Snow is the bad girl.
They find each other and themselves, along their journey.
A beautiful story how two people can make each other a better person.
I love this series. Can't wait for the next book.

I thought Patrick was my guy until Kelsey wrote about Ryan! I flove Ryan and Snow. I’m not sure who I’m in love with more. I love their damaged - yet not - souls. They are like 2 pieces to a puzzle and only work together. I can’t wait to read the next book! Read this. You won’t be disappointed!

Winter is Sweet

A great addition to the Kinney Brothers series. Charming romance between Ryan Kinney and Snow, who both share a love of tattoos and black hair dye. They’ve been judged by the their outward appearance and have had their fair share of issues but that’s not who they really are and it was a sweet journey watching it all come together.

I really liked this book. This book is written in Ryan's POV. While reading, I kept getting anxious and waiting for the bottom to fall. After I finished the book, I realized Ryan was in that same frame of mind. This goes to show you how great of a writer Kelsey Kingsley is. You aren't just reading the book, you are right there in the story.
