“Across Time shines with meticulously researched historical details, compelling characters, and a story that sweeps readers away.” DeAnna M., Proofreader, Red Adept Editing “Across Time is a history lesson dressed up in petticoats. Swathed in east-coast geography and Revolutionary War–era factoids, it will both delight and instruct.” Kim H., Proofreader, Red Adept Editing From Deborah Truscott, author of the best-seller Out of Time, and the sequels In the Nick and Past is Prologue, comes Across Time... When Terri Gannon finds herself running for her life, her friends send her through a portal in time to safety in Revolutionary-era Philadelphia. The passage costs her everything she knows and loves, including her past—but it also offers her a future she had never imagined.

I am giving it 2 stars, because even though I was bored and didn't like it, it was well written.

I am about halfway through, and honestly, it's boring. More literary fiction than fun historical. Terri is a bit of a philosopher, and she goes on and on while nothing much happens. She thinks a lot about her mixed race heritage. I suppose I don't understand it, because even though my heritage is mixed, I appear white. Susanna and Anabel too. I didn't remember Anabel from the previous books, but apparently she knows about Susanna's background.
60% A little bit more interesting, but still not much happening. All the evils of slavery. It is still pretty far removed from the murder in the first chapter. Working on the underground railroad now. Being courted by to men, neither of which is right for her. I find myself much more curious about what is happening in the present time.
I haven't been this bored with a book in a long time. I didn't like the man who ended up being 'the hero.' Well, I did like him, just not at all for the heroine. It seemed/felt like a horrible fit. I was never that entrigued by him as a character. I thought Zeke was a much more interesting character, though he wouldn't have fit Terri either.
I'll that and we never find out why Steve was killed?! The murderer was never found?! COME ON!

Book four was as good as the other three. This time it centers around another of Kitty's friends; Terri who finds herself in trouble after her husband is murdered. In order to help her, Kitty, Robert and the other friends who all now have experienced traveling back in time decide to tell Terri of their experience and convince her this is the way to avoid being arrested for her husband's murder. They bring her to the garden shed and send her off with clothes and instructions to find friends of Robert's who will be able to help her. They promise to come for her once she is no longer in danger of being arrested. I think this was my favorite of the 4 so far. Although I loved #1, this one was more descriptive and detailed. I can't wait for #5.

Just got this next instalment in the fascinating "Out of Time" series by Deborah Truscott.

It begins with Kathy Lee's other best friend, Terri (the last book having featured Julie), arriving home to her apartment in New York City one evening to a shocking & traumatic scene, which she barely has time to process before being attacked.

I found I had to suspend my disbelief at this point for the next several chapters - and it had nothing to do with the time travel bit! I suppose some people do just happen to be such quick thinkers - and to have friends who know people like that.

More to come!

I can't decide between 2 and 3 stars. This is by far the worst in the series. It was a very tedious and draining read and the plot is very uneven. You have some action in the first 20% that goes nowhere after. Some new action that happens at the 70% mark and a lot of nothing that happens between. Then the book chooses to finally focus on the romance around the last 20% keeping all the development of it beforehand off screen. This book was way longer than it really needed to be and left me feeling exhausted and frustrated. I feel like book 3 was a good stopping point.

Love well done time travel

I love this series. First off, I hate fashion, and the many fashion details do not annoy me, as it is 18th century fashion, and that is interesting history to me. The books are well researched, and well written. It saddens me there is not a 5th book yet. I do not want this to end!

Wonderful, clean story

Time travel with romance thrown in with a mall bit of history Jumping from the 21st century back to Colonial America. Well done. All four books are worthy of your time (no pun needed).
