Two years after the deaths of his adoptive parents, sixteen-year-old Ethan Haynes is still broken hearted and struggling to find purpose and meaning in his empty life.
When the Macetown Knights he’s long been in awe of task him with teaching one of their rescued Kyraenean slaves, Ethan finds more than he bargained for in a strong-willed girl called Maggie.
When a terrified Maggie is rescued from a Kyraenean mine, her thoughts are on the freedom offered and nothing more.
But when she meets a bear of a boy, with a gentle but wounded spirit, she must risk her heart to take the chance at the new life and discover the love he offers.
Sarah Addison-Fox is a New Zealand misfit with a weakness for stubborn heroes, fierce heroines, and stories that throw punches—sometimes literally. Whether she’s writing YA dystopian or steampunk, expect fast action, big feelings, and romance by the truckload.
Well that was adorable. I’m a sucker for sweet love stories, and this one delivered, let me tell you. *dies of cuteness* It tells the story of how Maggie and Ethan met—two characters that will be familiar if you’ve read any of the other Allegiance books. Stories like these are so refreshing in a world where lust gets labeled love so often. Ethan loves Maggie for who she is, and Maggie loves Ethan for who he is, end of story. I also liked getting to know a little more about Ethan’s past! I already knew some of Maggie’s, but this short story colored in Ethan’s character a little more vividly.
All in all, Discover is a quick read, a sweet read, and a worthy addition to the world introduced with the rest of the Allegiance series. ^_^
I love Maggie and Ethan from the beginning of the Allegiance series, and this short made me love them so much more, if that's even possible. Wonderful work Addison-Fox!
Maggie reminded me so much of Celeste in the story. And Ethan needed a big hug. Getting to know more of Gracie and Owen was nice as well. Even though this was so short and sweet, I feel like I know them so much more now.
But mostly I love the romance in the story and how it related to 1st Corinthians 13 so well in the Bible. That my friends, is the main reason why I gave it five stars, that and because it was basically perfect!
Content in Book:
1. Some kissing.
2. Mentions of slavery.
Who I Would Recommend This Book To:
Those who love the Allegiance series and want to learn more about Maggie and Ethan.
My all time favorite quote is: Marriage wasn't a punishment; it wasn't something to be feared. Not when you had evidenced of a man's character laid before you, bearing testimony to the truth.
A sweet short romance read. Maggie is a newly freed slave trying to get her head around her new future when she meets orphaned Ethan. A great coffee break read (and definitely a stand alone story you can understand without having read the other books).
*cries* This was do beautiful. *sniffs* Everyone needs to read this short story from the Allegiance series. It was do short yet so heart warming. *cries some more* I need more books from the series. I don't want this amazing series to be over!! *sobs* These characters are just amazing and I need them in my life!!
Please read these books if you havent. They are AMAZING!!!!!!!!
This was an adorably cute and tender little story. I truly loved it. The main characters are both so stinking cute. This isn’t an adventure story, it’s a tender coming of age romance. Young love. It’s all warm feels and shy glances.
