A year’s worth of strips -- many with comments from Jerry and Rick.
From the dark days of sleep deprivation to the cacophony of a tri-kid family, Baby Blues reveals the true dark underbelly of parenting to the delight of newspaper readers everywhere. Like a comic epidural, or butt cream on a raging diaper rash, this comic strip has helped take some of the sting out of parenting for countless parents around the world.
Baby Blues transcends the comic page by fusing the award-winning imaginations of Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott with familiar family life. Kirkman and Scott intuitively balance the humorous with the poignant through relatable and sometimes all-too-familiar parenting scenes.
Rick Kirkman is a cartoonist and co-creator of the comic strip Baby Blues. He received the National Cartoonist Society Newspaper Comic Strip Award in 1995, and the Reuben Award in 2012 for his work on the strip. He also served as co-executive producer of The WB animated television series of Baby Blues.
Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott knock out another year of scenes from parenting young kids in a world where that has become increasingly difficult. There were several laugh out loud moments in this, their 35th book collaboration. The actual year itself wasn't all that fun, but Daryl and Wanda try to sneak in some adult time together amid the chaos. Enjoyed.
My all time favorite comic strip came out with their 35th collection book. Love these - always have, always will. I love them even more since the creators put little comments below many of the strips to indicate what they were thinking, doing, or going for at the time. A great way to pass an hour in total fun bliss.
Another wonderful collection of Baby Blues comics from Kirkman and Scott! They are always spot on about raising kids and all the messiness and hilarity that ensues!
I've been breezing through all of these collections this year because I feel just like Wanda MacPhearson and it gives me relief to know it's not just my kids who are insane.
Never get tired of the kiddos or the zings between ALL the MacPhersons. Always makes me chuckle. The creators are witty and again, appreciate the comments added to the strips.
Adult Time: A Baby Blues Collection by Rick Kirkman - With three kids running wild, these two deserve some adult time. Hilarious as always! Happy Reading!
There are many funny moments in this collection. Take a bossy older sister, a brother who loves a mess, and a little one on the move and you have chaos, but it's fun - to view and read.
This is one of the comics that had its inception "in my time," and which I followed right from the get-go, before tapering off -- because they were no longer published in the newspapers. I had followed the MacPherson family's growth from the birth of Zoe till when second-born 'Hammie' was a toddler. I was pleasantly surprised -- and tickled pink -- when I picked this book up and found that there had been a third edition to the family: baby Wren. It may be a tall order, but I would like to look up all the comic books (by publication date) to see if they are available at the libraries in which I am a member, and start (again) following this family's exploits right from the beginning.
