Great Story. Loved the history. The interaction between Fred and Bea because of their different centuries was fabulous. Best of all I loved the cat.

I read this because I really enjoyed the authors other work, The Book of Boy. This one was a sweet tale but didn’t hit me as hard as the Book of Boy.

This Fantasy Story involves everything which makes life enjoyable to me: all things Italian, curious kids, purring cats, art, history and adventure. It's a children's novel but we all need to "take it easy" sometimes... Anyhow, whether we realize it or not, every life is significantly intertwined with children and/or animals. Furthermore, we can't always protect children from life's difficulties, but I find that the love of a pet can help most children weather the stormy parts. I especially relished the parts of the book that describe the annoying quirks of the artists & popes of the Renaissance... especially those of Michelangelo! In the end, we rediscover why art & nature ultimately make our lives better....

I loved the history and the interactions between the characters. The time travel story was hard to follow at times.
