I was immediately attracted by the cover, we see the beautiful Jenna.
We find Jenna facing a deadly situation: a chemical accident, except that secrets and lies will begin to reveal themselves. She will look for answers but who can you trust?
My third book by this author, I loved can wait to read more. A captivating story filled with suspense and twists.
This is an intriguing read that will just grab you and not let go! There’s tons of action, mystery, fab storyline and great characters and I am intrigued to read more by this author!
Jenna is just an average teenage girl. But this night is not going to be just an average night for her. With everyone in her family out, parents on a date night at the movies, her sister on a date with her new boyfriend, Jenna has taken advantage and gone out to a party. She’s heading home by herself when she is attacked by a mysterious man. In a panic, Jenna does the one thing a chased victim should never do. She looks behind her, and it costs her. She suffers a nasty accident and in a panic runs to the building where her father works. Nobody is there, but she breaks inside in an attempt to hide. While doing so, another accident occurs. In her frantic attempt to hide she knocks over a beaker that spills its content all over her. As she begins to go through changes, Jenna begins to learn that things aren’t what they seem with her father and what it is that he claims to be doing. Accidental Shifter (Twisted Roots) by E.J. Bennett is the second book that I have read by this author. This is a YA paranormal romance novel. Jenna is a 16-year-old girl in high school. She’s just an average girl. She’s not exceptional, she doesn’t stand out, and she’s not popular. She’s okay with that. Jenna is the girl that we see first on the cover of the book. That being said, I have to say that as a character Jenna is not anything special. For me, she comes off as a flat character. This story has an ebb and flow that engages me and then it drifts and I begin to lose interest. As Jenna deals with the aftermath of the attack, she begins to learn that there are effects to the stuff that spilled on her. There are other characters that the story focuses on as well. There is her best friend Donna, who has her own secrets, and then there is Jenna’s crush, Josh. There is more to Josh than meets the eye, but Josh has an agenda and Jenna is the key to it all. I’ve read a book by E.J. Bennett before and really enjoyed it, but this book feels like it misses the mark for me. The author fails to engage me fully in the story. I’m okay with Jenna not being a popular girl who has a lot going on for herself, but I wanted more from her nonetheless. She feels like a flat character. The pace of the story at times feels slow and tedious. To me, it feels like the author is feeling her own way through the story because she’s not completely sure about it. I think that with a faster pace that this story would have come together better. Most of the story honestly feels like a waiting game while the story builds and pieces itself together. I’m okay with that for a few chapters, but this goes on for over half the story. I kept wanting the story to get to Josh and Jax and piecing together what is going on with them, and even touch on Donna’s story as well. As is, I am rating this book 3.5 out of 5 stars. This story has some good moments, but it takes too long for things to come together. For me, Jenna is too flat of a character. I wanted to get more from her. This story has a lot of potentials, but in my opinion, it just doesn’t quite meet it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jenna is a 16 year old young lady who has gone out to a party after her curfew. On her way back home she;s being chased by something and runs. When she looks back she runs into a light post and gives herself a good crack. Picking herself up she heads to her father;s lab. She breaks a window to get in and hides in one of the lab rooms. She hits a table and a jar of some type of liquid falls on her and hits her leg. It burns and through a haze watches as whatever was chasing her comes in and she hits him with the jar. The next day as she walks into the school she starts having a fit. Three weeks later she awakes to find out that she;d been put into a coma to let the swelling in her brain down. That is the day she realizes she can shift into a cat. She starts to feel like she;s going crazy. Then she finds out her wonderful father has lied to her. She discovers there are witches, shifters and magic. Oh yes she;s the embodiment of a past witch who will take over her body. Being 16 just got really worse! Fantastic story that will have you enthralled from the beginning to the last page and leave you wanting more!!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Jenna. She is a young girl caught in a crazy world. After breaking her parents rule about going out, she gets chased and ends up at her dad's company, but she gets a liquid poured on her and it makes her feel weird. Things start to happen and she's but sure why. Her friend Donna and Josh seem to find acting different. What she had known if not what it really is. She actually has magic in her as well as Shifter blood, thanks to her dad's experiments. Can she help save her town or will it only increase the chance for it's destruction?

I’ve only read 1 other story of E.J. Bennett’s so when I saw this one in Booksprout I had to have it, I’ve seriously become a big fan of hers and this book Accidental Shifter is no exception. I enjoyed reading this story and it has several points of view and I like that in a story, there’s action, mystery, twists and turns, romance and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. A story that will grab you from the start and you won’t be able to put it down until the end. A fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

The poor girl has an accident, then lies and who can she trust. Enjoyable read and thrilling. Characters were good also. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and I give my review honestly
I enjoyed this one. It's an imaginative story about Jenna, an average teen. Jenna is likable and the story had enough twists and turns to keep me turning the pages.
I found it partially in a pay per chapter app, with a little help of reddt found the original version on amazon and read it in one go. Very good read. Only downside is that cliffhanger…
