Locker 32

Rate this book
In 1973 police officer Danny Lugo opened the door of a South Central Los
Angeles liquor store. Within moments he lay dead, murdered with his own gun.

Ten years later and just off probation, Officer Brian O'Callahan opened a different
kind of door—the door of a long-vacant locker in LAPD's most violent division.
Peering into the grey metal coffer, Brian never imagined his life would soon go
beyond a cop's domain of flashing lights, piercing sirens, and muzzle flashes. By
hanging his uniform in Locker 32 Brian had unknowingly accepted a terrible task.

Over the following months Brian demonstrates inexplicable prowess as a police
officer and develops a rare alliance with the community. He gains the attention of
many, including a vicious criminal who knows how to handle problem cops.

Have you ever looked across a band of yellow crime-scene tape and wondered
what the two cops on the other side of it were talking about? Or how it feels to
pursue a bad guy at blistering speeds with a siren screaming in your ears? Ever
seen a pair of police officers jump up from a half-eaten meal and race out of a
restaurant? Did you try to imagine where they were headed?

Utilizing his twenty-seven years of police work on the streets of Los Angeles,
author Gregory Baltad takes you there. His storytelling prowess and imaginative
descriptions will have you riding shotgun with some of LAPD's bravest, toughest,
and funniest cops. By opening Locker 32, you release a real cop story wrapped
in an otherworld thriller.

Rookie police officer, Brian O’Callahan, asks to be assigned to the notorious 77th division of the LA police department because it is where he thinks he will feel at home in ‘Locker 32’ by Gregory L. Baltad. Needing to prove something, whether to himself or others, O’Callahan arrives just in time for some serious action to go down and finds himself right in the middle of it all. Between gangs and cowardly police officials who run off to relatives higher up in the ranks, O’Callahan is constantly getting into trouble that earns him a reputation.

An interesting aspect to O’Callahan’s assignment to the 77th is the seeming presence of the spirit of an officer, Danny Lugo, killed in the line of duty 10 years earlier. Assigned Lugo’s locker, number 32, by the dead man’s former partner, O’Callahan is just the latest officer to experience strange things in the locker room. Is this presence a guardian angel or something more sinister trying to sabotage O’Callahan’s job or even ruin his life?

New author Gregory L. Baltad has hit it out of the park with this fantastic crime/police novel with a twist of paranormal intervention. ‘Locker 32’ is riveting as you follow the characters through their days on the job and the investigations as well as the lives of the neighborhood residents that bring the action to an intense climax. Written based on Baltad’s own personal experience, ‘Locker 32’ sets you right in the nitty gritty of crime prevention and detection wondering who is going to come out alive. Realistic dialogue and fantastic action move a well-conceived plot along to the point that it is hard to put the book down. This is definitely a must-read for police action fans who appreciate a little something extra.
