All Chantelle Athens wanted was to surprise her husband with lunch in hope of rekindling their dimming flame. Never in her wildest dreams did she think such a loving gesture would lead to the shock that caused her life to spiral out of control. Nor did she think that it would leave her a broken shell without a husband. After locking herself away for years, she has to face her harsh relativity and enter the world, once again.
An unexpected job proposal was a welcomed gift. However, one thing she wasn't counting on; a man to see past her brokenness to desire the woman she once was.
26 yr old writer and mom who's here to add a flare to your mundane romance novels. We all know love isn't easy, so why does every book we come across describe it as such? Love is a journey, one with many elements including drug addiction, mental illness, and physical disabilities.....or fantasy. Even though this was a very interesting story. I don't like cliffhangers actually, it wasn't really a cliffhanger it just left me hanging. Had I known the story was a 2 parter or it's part of a series I wouldn't have read the 1st book until the next book had been published. With that said, the book was a very interesting story dealing with the complex issues of paraplegic life and how they manage their life from day to day, especially after the tragic loss of family. What I didn't need to read was about her detailed bath issues every time she had to go. Once was enough.
Chantelle is getting a new life with her new job. She is coming out of her reclusive shell making new friends and has caught the eye of her boss, to her best friend Liam's chagrin. Her new girlfriends are funny and were a joy to read.
This story left me hanging with no resolutions except for Chantelle telling off Liam. We don't know if Bain is going to tell Chantelle about Sam or even if Chantelle will respond to Bain's interest. I hate that we don't get a resolution to anything. The author should have warned the readers that this was the first part of a series. If she did, I missed it.
Where shall I began...First of all, why is this book a cliffhanger? Normally I would take hours to read a book a day is the latest, I took nearly a week to finish this book. I rated this with four stars because of the good storyline, but the execution of the story is poor. All of that tie it took to explain her ritual in the shower could have been getting to the meat of this book. You have three stories in one and can't conclude any of them. Sigh, then you have the main characters beating around each other like five-year-olds. All I know is this needs a do-over. This book was sort of boring really and I' only going to read part two [wheever that comes out] to see where that goes.
I like the story line but I want to read a romance book with passion, heat, AND HEA.(0%). The entire book was about the main character disability and her depression from losing her family. I like that heroine is paralyzed and can find love but does it take two books to get there? Every character has a thought in the book. Sometimes I'm confused with whom is speaking. I don't even want to read the second book. If you want a book with a slow process to romance then this book is for you.
Liam got on not one but every single one of my nerves and Chantelle needs to end their so-called friendship because all he do is cross boundaries. I'm glad that Liam slipped and told Chantelle the truth of knowing all about Kevin's infidelities and her seeing Liam in a different light. I'm looking forward to Chantelle exploring her sexuality with Bain and hopefully she won't hold Samantha being his distant cousin against him. I think that Lisa is Chantelle's mother and can't wait to see how that unfolds.
There is another reviewer that pretty much sums up my idea of this book. There is a surprise cliffhanger. Some parts were repetitive and descriptions of people were odd, it wasn't until I was like 3 quarters or near the end that I finally understood why?
The hero in this book is biracial, I had no idea he was, I thought he was full white.
A good story that was too long and badly in need of editing. Characters names changed throughout the story and even in the same paragraph. So many plots and not one complete. I did like the explanations of the injury story and paralysis.
The title says it all. Slow Burn describes what happens when misguided attention is misconstrued as love, or ownership of another person. Isn’t it said that “love conquers all” . I can’t wait to see!
First she finds out in the worst way her husband is cheating in her with a Bimbo Barbie. Then her husband is trying to justify his Affair while she is driving ERRATICALLY, which cause the accident and his death and the babies. I felt her pain of losing them, and being in a wheelchair. Her frustration in not being able to be like she once was. I love her support sytems of the ladies. They keep her upbeat, Happy, and try to be just normal around her. But Liam, Lord please let me smack him for her. How can he be jealous of Mr Duncan Hines, Him and Chantelle are just old school friends. He needs to chli already. I'm loving this series, Especially the awkwardness of them finding that sexual spark thst neither expected. Now the questions remains of how Chantelle is going to take that Bein is releated to Sam the homewrecker, that she is Chantelle half sister; and he knew of everything and didn't tell her. Can't wait for the exciting Conclusion. Awesome Yvonne Bennett
OK, I rate it four stars because ...the writing is good , the storyline is very good, but it is too involved without getting to the bottom line. I can't say it boring, however, even after finished this extra long book Brain & Chantelle still formal and not a couple and Liam still an obsessive pest.... I am hoping that book 2will be a page turner.
This book had potential but fell flat. It desperately needs editing. There were sentences that made no sense. There were mix ups with characters names. The character descriptions were confusing. Explanations of how the heroine showered were repetitive. It quickly became boring. The plot was too busy and without warning the book ends in a dull cliffhanger.
