Rate this book
Wondering if you have what it takes to do a TED Talk? This short and focused book shares information about how to meet TED (and kissing cousins TEDx and SUE). It covers what the essence of the talks are all about and details the nomination form to apply to do a TED talk, with practical insight into what organizers are looking for. A bonus report inside shares how to turn your talk (TED or otherwise) into a book, including a timeline and ways to make it easy on yourself. Brought from the award-winning author who has conducted more than 60 Write a Book in a Weekend events, this "transcript training" (because it stems from a popular webinar) gives aspiring speakers an introduction to TED and other speaking and presentation tips. the author is not associated with TED.com or the TED organization—she's simply an interested observer. What people are saying about Donna “Donna Kozik is a genius at helping people promote their businesses through writing, publishing books, and speaking. This is extraordinary. Unbelievable. Absolute trash.

If you are wondering why the world is in the toilet, and randoms are oversharing their feelings, vibes and experiences, then a diagnostic is found in this book.

This is rubbish. This is not a book.

Firstly, it is 26 pages.

But it gets worse...

On page six, this statement is made: “What follows is a lightly edited transcription of a 60-minute webinar conducted by Donna Kozik, the lead instructor of the ‘Speaking to Authority’ training.”

Oh no. So a #random has done a 'webinar' - and yes, several of my internal organs fused when I read that word - and then 'lightly edited' the 'prose' to create a 'book.'

It is as dreadful as this sounds. Grammar is optional. Someone needs to explain adverbs to Donna....

The book is seemingly about TED talks. It is not. It is a book about Donna, telling an audience about how great she is. Here is an example...

“I’m most known for my Write a Book in a Weekend program, where I show people how to write a book fast and easy in as little as a weekend, using a big business card.”

If this 26 pages of self absorption is the model, then we all need to read some scholarly monographs as an intellectual sorbet...

Here is another highlight. “I’m looking to empower you to feel better and better about how you are getting your message out there.” Seriously, we do not need more people feeling better about themselves, oversharing a thought bubble.

Just stop.

By page 18, any pretence of talking about TED is lost. Instead, she states, “I’m starting a speakers bureau!”

Love the exclamation mark. Not.

But this is a book about how to create rubbish books, 'showing' (!!!), “why presentations make good Ebooks” and “with an hour or so long presentation, you are ahead of the curve in creating a Kindle ebook.”

It is the end of the world, eh?

Instead of writing books, Donna needs to read them...

Donna's beat example of powerful communication

I've worked with Donna Kozik for years starting with Write a Book in a Weekend my first website and more. I love what she did with TED talks and the immediate creation of an ebook from a presentation. Great tricks and solid advice for achieving success. Thanks for your leadership.
