Life—and death—after the end of the world as we know it is more horrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.
This is the beginning of Molly Everett’s story. She was just trying to survive, all by herself during the zombie apocalypse, until she met a teenager named Kelle, who invited her to stay in the grocery store where she lived. For a short time, the two girls shared a bond, but a terrifying secret, hidden in the walk-in freezer, shatters their fragile peace.
The events of that dreadful night turn Molly into an outcast, something neither zombie, nor human. She’s forced to straddle the two worlds, while her inner humanity is at war with the beast she has become.
But she’s not alone. Kelle was also changed. Not quite zombie and not quite human, but she’s definitely insane, and she wants revenge for what Molly did to her.
Can Molly live this way, while remaining true to herself, or will she allow her newfound powers to control her? Only her instincts can ensure her survival—her Zombie Instincts.
Just as I was warming up to the characters, things took a really unexpected turn with a real “Holy crap” moment that I don’t often get from books. Now I’m excited to read the next one!!
This is just the start to Molly's struggle to survive, I had a brief glimpse in Ashes And Madness and been patiently waiting for more. JB Havens did not let me down, this is scary, it takes Zombies to another level completely. It is tense and horrifying, there is suspense and it definitely leaves you needing more. I was on the edge of my seat, nerves jingling praying for Molly. The story is well thought out, there is a great flow with nothing left unexplained to a certain degree. I am sure the Molly side of things will evolve through the next books still to come and all will make sense as it does. The book isn't long, I read in an hour but it is enough to get you hooked and left wanting. I love Molly, she is a strong and determined to survive. She has lost everything but is still fighting.
I can't say enough about this book! This book was the first I read and reviewed on my Youtube channel Cardio Book Reads with me, Jeffrock - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEAo... This book was so much more than a typical zombie story. It puts a new twist on things I honestly had never considered. Here's a hint, could you imagine a world where not only had a zombie apocalypse ended life as we know it, but there are zombies who can think, reason, and act just like the living, but hunger for flesh...and are able to control the mindless undead? Seriously, if you are considering reading this book, stop right now, get yourself a copy and just read it!
If you looking for a badass heroin look no further... I am blown away by this book. The unbelievable twist to this zombie book is something I would have never thought of. I can't describe it cause I would give to much away, I don't know about you but I don't like reading reviews that give away spoilers , to me that's just not cool, but I will tell you you will never guess how this story ends. Now that out of the way download this book now if you like unknowns and unexpected turns.
Well, I promised to give it a go and I was not disappointed. I had just finished a great book by another author and I thought what's next on the list and there was Molly. One pot of Costa green tea later and I was finished and wanting a lot more of Molly.
I won't say anything about the plot as it's a bit different but the writing is great and you fall in love with Molly within the first 20 pages.
Can't wait for bedtime to cuddle up with Molly: Immersion :-)
I enjoyed this short book. It was a bit different than the hordes of other zombie novels i have read. It is the first book in a series. The second book is pretty short as well. I like the idea of a series of short hitters. I like the idea of the 2 ladies getting partially turned and dealing with it rather differently. I also like that there are no real good guys in the version of the new world. Looking forward to the second book.
I think I’m in love! Molly, where have you been all my life. Well life now is in the middle of an apocalypse. I would give you my heart, but…
Molly is just trying to survive. Not needing anyone to survive the great upheaval. Always something new in this genre and J.B. Havens brings it out. Lots of surprises, many secrets to be revealed, and thoroughly enjoyable reading. More…
A new style for the zombie genre, definitely a five star concept. There are some editing and voice issues that caused me to hit four. Still an exciting mix of true to life and deuce ex machina storyline that I highly recommend.
Well, well, well! Never thought I’d be rooting for someone like Molly! I thought this was a fast paced, exciting read. I can’t wait for part two to be released and see who will survive! Kudos on a fresh, new take on this over saturated genre!
Really enjoyed this story. It's a great introduction to a character I love already: Molly. I've already got the second book downloaded; just hope the third one is out soon. Highly recommend this. It's a bit different, and unpredictable.
I really like how the author describes what a zombie might feel like; is there anything left of the person they were? I like where this is going, keep it up.
This was an interesting twist on the zombie genre. Two women turned at the same time time but they didn't come out quite the same. I'm looking forward to the next book.
My book clubs theme this month was local/independent authors, so I picked up Molly and I'm so glad I did. The book was a great introduction to the main characters Molly and Kelle. I enjoyed the gore throughout the book and the mystery of what Molly is and how she's going to survive - which will be very interesting. While the book was a short/quick read it didn't lack in detail or character. I'm a big fan of The Walking Dead and enjoyed the similarities and differences in this book. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.
Molly is an interesting take on a zombie apocalypse story. Not sure if it was good enough for me to continue the series or not. Good narration, but a few mispronounced words was a little irritating.
