After Rellia’s General Tartha gives mankind a timeline to prepare for war, General Perrara of the United States and Professor Makoto of Japan brainstorm a resolution to level the playing field. They create the Shadow Organization with the help of underground intelligence networks and four alien warriors as trainers. Despite being Earth’s best kept secret, it becomes a pillar of strength. But, the inside is rotten, built on prejudice and weak laws towards the hybrid offspring. The alien warriors also appear to have ulterior motives for helping mankind. Perrara and Makoto start to ask themselves if they were more optimistic than realistic in their endeavors. Will the organization straighten itself out and thrive as a beacon of hope for humanity? Time is not on our side.
Maquel A. Jacob has had a passion for the written word since the age of seven, reading everything she could get her hands on which included encyclopedias and the thesaurus. At twelve, she had her first encounter with a Stephen King novel and was hooked. She became inspired to write her own brand of fiction. Combining multiple genres is her way of keeping things interesting. Always ready to learn new things, her search for knowledge never ceases. So far she has an Accounting degree, a Business Administration degree, became a certified Nail Technician via Cosmetology school and studied Digital Film and Video at the Art Institute of Portland. She is a huge Anime fan, loves a great bottle of wine and rocks out to heavy metal music. Green and lush Oregon is where she currently resides spinning imaginary worlds in her head while daydreaming.
The author claims to be writing optimism, but the first two books in this series portray people as utterly miserable creatures in both attitude and moral compass. The books are filled with rape, although it isn't entirely clear what the purpose of these events serve the story, other to remind you that the characters are mostly pretty bad people. I'm going to find it hard to pick up the next book in the series.
Adding in some vicious aliens to train humans for hopeful survival in the upcoming war, this book is darker than the first. Too many people, especially the alien/human children, are sacrificed for power. However, still want to see how it all turns out.
