A fascinating story

Held hostage by the King of Alba until her brother Domnall pays a fine for stealing cattle after a disastrous lambing season, Eilidh decides to escape to her home in Bundalloch in 11th century Scotland with two companions when the date for payment becomes due and her brother fails to appear. Unfortunately for her, they are attacked and captured by a band of marauding Vikings and taken as spoils to Dublin where she is informed that she is to marry a cruel and vicious fifteenth year-old son of the local warlord while her companions are interred as slaves.
What follows is a fascinating story of how she manages to evade one terrifying fate after another, building up to a tense and dramatic confrontation by the warring families involved and it is not until the last chapter is reached that the situation is finally resolved.
I was particularly impressed by the amount of research that has gone into researching the background conditions of the period and the wealth of knowledge involved, and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.
