Twelve years ago I saved a woman after a bunch of low-lifes kidnapped her and kept her locked up for weeks. I risked everything--my future with the MC, even my life--to save Lynn. But they destroyed her. She was alive but nothing of her was left. So I forgot her, because I had no other choice. Now all the men who destroyed her life are dead, and I wanted her to know that.
She's still as gorgeous as ever, still every bit the beauty queen she was when we met. But she's not well, and she doesn't need a compassionless killer like me in her life. Some call me the Scarred Devil and I earned that name. Saving Lynn from life as a sex slave was the last "human" thing I did. Now there's none of that humanity left.
No, she doesn't need another monster in her life. But I can't stay away. This time I'll claim her, get what I couldn't have then. And I don't want to break her again, but I probably will.

I love hearing from my readers! Here's just some ways you can find me online...
Way too much internal dialogue. The characters liked talking to themselves more than each other. There was just something missing throughout. Scar just didn’t do it for me. He wasn’t caring enough for me and just seemed like all he wanted was sex. He just cared about what he wanted and just told her to get over it. He would also get mad because she got scared, how uncaring is that? PTSD just doesn’t go away and it seemed like she had sex and it was gone. The story could have been so much better on this topic.
Scar was the fourth book in the Devil’s Nightmare MC series by Lena Bourne.
Scar was a patched member of the MC - the enforcer that got any needed information from an enemy. His name came from the scar on his face - which made most afraid of him. He was ruthless. He saved Lynn twelve years ago from an abduction from a rival MC and took her to safety. He never forgot her but he never saw her again. Until now.
Lynn was barely living but she found comfort in her routines. She was a past beauty queen and had everything she wanted until she was abducted and continuously raped by an MC. After two weeks, Scar saved her but she’s been a shell of herself ever since, even after twelve years.
No spoilers since all of that was in the description but it definitely had triggers. And this was a tough one for me. Lynn suffered a great deal. When Scar and Lynn crossed paths again, Lynn still struggled from her abduction. Scar was rough around the edges but given the circumstances, I expected more compassion from him. It was almost non-existent and as a result, it didn’t endear me to him. The plot primarily focused around Lynn and Scar and their development, but Bourne also brought in Scar’s personal conflicts. I wasn’t totally sold on the resolution so it’s possible we’ll see or hear more in later books.
All in all, it was a quick and suspenseful read. The long awaited Ice is up next in book five.
This book has tons of potential but falls short because of sub par editing and a not so great male main Character. Scar is a jerk. He was way too hard on Lynn and mostly not very understanding. I love love love the white knight thing. Him saving her and how they met and the whole brother thing and then ending up together - that was all done well. But, Scar was an unlikable character. It would have been better if he were more understanding and if he hasn't been a manwhore in the meantime. It's disgusting and takes away from his relationship with her. The 12 year time gap was way too much. I don't recommend this book or series.
This story starts out so depressing. Both Lynn and Scar have so many issues to overcome. She is so damaged and he has years to become as flawed as he is. His story is just heartbreaking and yet there is so much the man has done you just don’t know if he can fight his way to a long term relationship. I really hope the author revisits these characters since I feel there are a few issues left unanswered. Where does his brother end up? Where does Scar end up? What about her mom? I have read all the books in this series and I don’t think I’ll ever be ready for it to end.
Scar by Lena Bourne is skillfully written and captivated me from the very first page to the very last. This biker romance story is unique and a little on the dark side with plenty of steamy scenes and a guaranteed HEA.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
I wanted to like this. But I found myself skimming through a lot of the internal dialogue. When I read a MC story I expect a lot more of the motorcycle club. The club was there but not enough for me. I loved Scar and all his flaws. I needed to see more story with the club.
I enjoyed this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. This one is a little on the darker side of things with what happened to Lynn 12 years ago and what Scar pulled her out of but it has irrevocably changed her. In order to survive for the time that she was taken and raped by the MC's members that took her, she retreated into her mind and it changed the way she functions even all these years later. Lynn has always loved animals and has found a volunteer job that she can do which is at a rescue that temporarily houses ranchers/farmers animals when they are in danger of fire on their property. She is still uncomfortable around men and iffy about going out. Scar decides that he wants to look her up and let her know that the animals who did it to her, are all gone now. He had a major crush on her back then but hadn't made a move before everything happened and then he rescued her and walked away. Lynn had always wished he had made a move before everything happened and when he shows back up and steps in again, she feels safe with him. Enough that she decides to take a chance and try and go out with him but of course, it's not a smooth road. Sex and everything associated with it was contaminated for Lynn and she has to work through that, now that she has someone she wants to try for. Scar is of course on the rougher side so has to find the patience and figure out that Lynn is worth the wait and that communication is key and just working through the set backs. The story was entertaining and I enjoyed it. Scar definitely needed a little more patience and understanding for how hard things were for Lynn and that her reactions really weren't about him or her not trusting him. He eventually got there, he was just also dealing with his own insecurities which fed into a lot of their problems. I enjoyed seeing them find their way together and finding their happy ending. The narrators did a good job with the story.
There is so much I want to say about this book but in doing so I would give away too much of the plot line. What I can say is that it was an incredible book. Each of the characters in this series is extremely well-crafted. These are hardened criminals, they have all killed and not felt remorse but as you discover each man's back story, what made them who they are, it changes your perspective of them. Scar's story was one of pain but at the same time you know he went out of his way to save Lynn way back when even though he could have just walked away and left her to a fate worse than death. This is a story of two damaged people who reunite 12-years after the events at the beginning of the book who bring each other a sense of peace, healing and strength. Scar teaches Lynn that by living in abject fear she is allowing the people who victimised her to carry on winning, giving them control over her life, something that not even intensive therapy has been able to accomplish, and Lynn teaches Scar that revenge is not always the answer, that it destroys a part of your soul and that too gives the person you are seeking revenge on power of you. I loved the evolution of both characters through the story and both the main characters are likeable and colourful. Just as an aside I personally think the people who left the horses in the barn should be given a visit by the men of the MC, couldn't think of anyone who would deserve it more.
What a read that has both characters carrying around a darkness that no one can reach but the other. Scar is a member of the Devil’s Nightmare MC and his name is part of who he is, thanks to his brother. Then there’s Lynn, who at one point was a happy beautiful young woman that gets torn away from her safe and happy place. Scar was the one to save her but only after she had already gone into herself to protect herself, her own darkness. Scar carries his own darkness, he’s done many things that eats away at his soul and doesn’t know how to do love. The two find each other 12 years later and as he slowly brings her out of her own darkness, she does the same for him. But there are still others out there who want them both to suffer the same way as before...can he save her and in turn can she save him as well. What a read that had me captivated from the get go with the struggles both face with themselves and then with each other. The patience that Scar never had for anyone else is exercised with Lynn and her own fears as she exorcises them with Scar. Two people shrouded in darkness but see light at the end of the tunnel only because of the other. A read I don’t want to say more of and spoil it, a read that shouldn’t be missed and a read where two people never though they could get a HEA, finally get one with each other. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Look, I read a lot of darker romances so I’m no stranger to stories involving couples where one or both have gone through trauma and are working through ptsd, and I get that not everyone is going to be an expert in handling people with ptsd, but the way the leading man treats the traumatized by rape and kidnapping leading lady during sexy times is honestly such a turn off?! Even in the lead up to their coupling, when she’d start to panic he was literally get angry at her for not putting out, that made him so incredibly UNSEXY, it made this book a struggle to get through. There was even a scene where she is panicking about him being on top and holding her arms down while they’re actively doing the deed and when she panics does he stop to fully check in with her? No. He just lets go of her arms and starts having sex with her slower. I really hope this writer NEVER writes about bdsm because safe, sane, and consensual might be something she struggles with writing about. Another scene that bothered me is he is fully aware that men scare her, especially men touching and grabbing her, and there’s a scene where he comes up behind her, grabbing her, and if I recall correctly even covers her mouth so she can’t scream?! He did this to a kidnapping victim??? What the actual f**k, that ain’t cute. 0/10 love interest, she deserved better.
For me this was not the best book of the series so far and was at times a little boring. Both the main characters Scar and Lynn are very damaged people, he was cut up badly by his deranged brother when he was young hence the name scar as his face is badly scarred, she was kidnapped by a group of bikers twelve years ago raped beaten and abused and has never mentally recovered. His brother was the one who abducted her and have her to a bad club and allowed all to use her because he knew his brother cared for her. These two come back together years later and although she is scared of men he breaks through her fear and together they heal each other. It is a good story with lots of issues covered but somehow lacks the grit of some of the other books in the series but still a decent read.
Wow...what a read! Just when I think I've read a favorite of Lena's books, I read another book and then THAT one's my favorite! We've met Scar in the other Devil Nightmare books (although this is a standalone novel). Scar is harsh, unromantic, and knows what he wants. He wants Lynn but Lynn is petrified after her horrendous past. Scar know about her past but has a hard time with it. I had a hard time reading Scar. Lena wrote him exactly as he should have been written. I felt like he should have been more sensitive to Lynn's situation but that is not the kind of character he is. Lena did a great job writing these characters exactly as they should be. Perfection!
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
This series just keeps getting better with each book. Scar has really only felt something for one girl in his life and that was 12 years ago. He had gotten to know Lynn when she was working at a diner in Illinois and then when she was abducted by the Splawn's MC, Scar led a group to rescue her. Now that Devil's Nightmare MC has some downtime, Scar decides that it is time to look her up again and let her know she is safe. Can Scar show Lynn that not all men are like those that abducted her years ago and she can trust him to always be there when she needs him? Can Lynn get over the feelings that she has bottled up for the past 12 years and let Scar in? Great story from beginning to end! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I always like reading a good MC book and Lena never disappoints. Scar and Linda are two people with a history who meet up again 12 years later when both are trying to figure out hat the next step in their life will be. Linda is trying to overcome her PTSD and Scar is trying to figure out how he fits into the MC. Scar does such a wonderful job in conveying to Linda that by not doing things she may want to do is giving the men who hurt her all the control. She shows him how to care about someone and how to realize that he does have a "soft" side when it comes to someone he loves. This story is well developed and written in a way that you will become vested in the growth of these two characters. I was given this book for an honest voluntary review.
Two emotionally broken souls found their way to love in this somewhat second chance MC romance by Lena Bourne. Lynn has been in hell and back, her abduction left her broken and emotionally scarred. Scar was her savior back then but never thought himself enough for Lynn to love him being left scarred both on the surface and deep in his soul from a young age. I found their story very emotional. On one hand because of what they went through individually, on the other hand because of the battles they had to fight with themselves to adopt and embrace what they feel for one another. There is no escaping those feelings so the only way is to surrender and quit fighting. Great read. Good writing as is usually the case with Lena Bourne's books. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers' copy.
This was an intense, emotional book that includes the story of a victim/survivor of being kidnapped and repeatedly raped, among other things. I enjoyed the romance part of the story, but there were a few things about the suspense aspect that I had trouble understanding, or better yet, agreeing with. There was nothing wrong with the story, this is based on my personal opinion, not anything about the author or the book. Overall, it was a great read that I enjoyed. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
A dark, complex, intense and heartbreaking read. Lynn's story is horrifying and readers should be warned because this book deals with kidnapping and rape. Scar is her MC rescuer. This poignant romance twists your emotions into knots as you explore the relationship between these two, their pasts and the struggle with who they are at this moment. They both are wounded and broken but the connection and attraction between them is deep and not easily ignored. I'm posting a completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.
Lynn lived a life of fear. She was abducted 12 years ago. Forced into sex slavery. But then he came for her. He saved her and got her to a hospital. Now he's back and has never stopped caring. Scar didn't have a loving family. So he was cold and calculating. She softened him up. He wanted to protect her to. I love how protective he is. I love how he pushes her to live and not let what happened to her define her. Amazing read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.
I really wanted to like this one as I felt Scar had potential, however sadly that is not the case. As with many of the books in this series, there just wasn't enough about the MC, this is purely a romance novel that includes and MC member. As for Scar, I felt he seriously lacked empathy for someone as traumatised as Lynn has been. His sole objective seemed to be getting her into the sack. I was also surprised given how Lynn suffered with PTSD, how quickly she caved into a physical relationship with Scar. Too much inner dialogue also made me skip over some parts.
Scar is the worst MMC. He is selfish, has no empathy, feels like he’s wasting his time hanging out with the FMC if she doesn’t put out then manipulates her to have sex before she’s ready because he’s selfish and because of his “needs.” I mean the author could have brought in the secondary characters to talk to the MMC about PTSD because you have Roxy who’s a social worker and Doc who has PTSD and is a doctor. They could have educated him on how to approach the FMC delicately. Geez. Wasted opportunity to bring in side characters.
What a read! Full of hidden emotions, trumas hate abuse. The start is something That blew my mind - so sad and depressing. Full of hurt. Lynn is a woman That has past. Very bad. She tried Her best to heal herself after The attack That happened 12 yr ago. Scar is a killer. He Has a scar, but is he what he seems? A brute That will kill you? I was schocked by his story. This book is about Love, overcoming past and your bad memories. Greatly written and treasured every aspect of their pasts.
This is a dark, heartbreaking read. The storyline is very good, well-written and has many obstacles to overcome in the H/h's search for a HEA. The characters have many issues to overcome, their flaws, weaknesses, fears, and interfering secondary characters. The hardness in the H is softened by the h, and they are mostly likable but also frustrating. I liked it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Lena's nightmare started when she was abducted. She suffered horribly and a night is shining armour saved her. Scar is struggling with memories of the young girl he rescued 12 years ago. Where she is and what she's doing. Lena is a shadow of her former self. She is hiding herself away and just surviving. When Scar shows up unexpectedly can she be the woman she once was.
I was so looking forward to Scar’s story but it fell somewhat short for me. Lynn had been through a horrific, nightmarish ordeal in the past from which Scar had saved her. Scar seemed more concerned about having sex with her & at times showed some annoyance when she was reluctant. This is not technically a MC story, it is a story of two broken souls who fight their way to each other. All in all, a good read.
Another great addition to this series. That being said, I did not hate this story but at the same time I did not love it; only because Scar had no compassion, understanding or general feelings for what Lynn endured. I can get that what she went through was 12 years prior but she was barely living life and finding a routine for herself. I know these are fictional characters but I guess I just expected more from Scar.
What an amazingly dark read. This book got me hooked from the start. Lynn is kidnapped as she is leaving her waitressing job. Scar has been coming into the bar wanting to ask her out . There’s a lot going on in this book. Mystery, revenge ,MM clubs, love and sex. Loved the characters, look forward to reading more about others in the MC clubs Loved it Voluntarily reviewed this advance copy
Holy smoke I’m so in love with this series. This is Scar and Lynn story and let me just said that Lynn when through hell and back and the only one that safe her was Scar. Love the characters and the way this book turned out to be. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
WOW! Scar by Lena Bourne is an intense read. Be aware that there maybe triggers for some. An amazing journey from deep depression & going through life existing to beginning a relationship all heading towards a HEA. A MUST read! I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this ebook.
This is an action packed dark romance with amazing characters. The characters go through a lot but the way they deal with the situations is what makes them amazing. Lena Bourne did an exceptional job writing Lynn and Scar's story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Scar saved Lynn from her personal hell, but he couldn't trust himself or his self worth to stay with her. Good story of a rough road back to the light in their lives. The action was good, and the characters were well done, but their drama seemed a little too over the top and dragged a bit.
