Me Life Story

Rate this book
One girl's meteoric rise from sofa to TV stardom!

From beloved Gogglebox breakout star, to winner of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, achieving her dream of presenting with Ant and Dec on Saturday Night Takeaway and filling Davina's shoes in the new series of Streetmate, Scarlett is quickly fast-tracking to national treasure status.

In what will quite surely be the funniest book of the year, laugh along with Scarlett as she describes her journey from ballroom dancing diva, to adventures with her survivalist Dad, working at ASDA and life as a student. But along with the highs there have been tough times, including bullying during her teenage years. With her typical tenacity and trademark wit, Scarlett pulls through it all.

This is our favourite Northerner as we have never heard her before, telling it like it is on EVERYTHING she's experienced so far. Warm, funny and honest, this is the amazing story that resulted in Scarlett becoming our favourite TV star: sofa, so good!

I’ve always been a fan of Scarlett’s so I was delighted to be able to read Me Life Story pre-publication. It’s safe to say I’m an even bigger fan now! 😍 This book is hilarious, honest and just so fun to read. I read the whole thing over the course of a day because I genuinely couldn’t put it down.

Scarlett has a thirst for knowledge, which I can totally appreciate because I’m the exact same way. 🙌🏼 Each chapter is begun with some facts, which I loved, because it gives an insight into the kind of random things that she’s interested in. Plus, she worships at the altar of Proffessor Stephen Hawking! Can’t get much more intelligent than that!

As well as some genuine laugh out loud moments the book is interspersed with some of the harder times in Scarlett’s life so far. I can empathise with some of it as I’ve gone through it too, and her honesty is really refreshing. Plus her Northern-ness is almost like us Irish, a sense of humour can really help you through some dark times.

I loved finding out more about Scarlett. I knew she was my kind of person before I began, but this book has made me wish she was one of my friends. She comes across as a really genuine, caring and all round lovely person. Her inability to believe some of the good luck and opportunities she’s had makes her seem really down to earth and just so damn nice! 😊

I honestly loved this book. It felt like a chat with your best mate, like the ones you’d have late at night talking about everything and anything! A real honest and genuinely funny book, it was definitely a brilliant read!

Highly recommended 🙌🏼

I LOVED this book!

I have liked Scarlett Moffat ever since she was in gogglebox and I also loved her when she was in I'm a Celeb. I had always wondered how and why she got onto to both of these shows which was one of the main reasons I picked this book up. Another big reason that I bought the book was the cover which is just so amazing (Underneath the dust jacket may just be my new favorite cover!)

Scarlett was so relatable in the book and because I was listening to the audiobook, which was read by Scarlett Moffat herself, I felt like she was telling me her life story. The story was so amazing and Scarlett's life was so interesting and fantastic to read.

This is without a dowt the best autobiography i have ever read and now I definetly want to read her first book.

Now don't get me wrong, this hasn't been sat on my electronic Goodreads shelf because I found it a drag - it's just that I literally haven't had the time to read. But this autobiography is everything I thought it would be, and Scarlett makes me so proud to be a northern lass who lives in Bishop Auckland. There's quotes in here I can personally relate to, and know exactly where she's coming from, because, really, I live in the same town as her. Two streets away, to be exact.

Me when anything remotely good happens:
I'm scared I'll mess things up. I'm just a five-foot-and-a-fag-end Bishop Auckland girl, why am I being given this chance?

Scarlett really is this lovely, down-to-earth, genuine lass who really deserves what she has and where she is today. She never takes anything for granted and really values her friends and family. There's something satisfying about hearing this become of her, after she was bullied for her appearance in school.

This autobiography makes you feel like you really know her, and it makes you want to be her best friend, especially if you've been through similar things she has with bullies.

Also, kudos to her for opening up about mental health. It's shocking that people have been making comments about her appearance and weight. I don't say this often because a lot of the time, if you dislike someone, you just dislike them and doesn't always mean you're jealous, but I truly believe there are people out there who are jealous of what she's achieved. Why wouldn't you be? She's best mates with Ant & Dec, is one of the Queens of the Jungle, has presented a Channel 4 reality TV show called Streetmate, been on Saturday Night Takeaway and has presented the National Television Awards show among other things. And this is all within a year.

I really recommend her autobiography, especially if you've watched her on Gogglebox, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! or Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

It's really funny in places, but I enjoyed it mostly because Scarlett is such a down to earth, normal girl who I can easily relate to, and has had some amazing opportunities which make it really interesting and exciting to read.

I'm a big fan of Scarlett and love her down-to-earth nature, so was really keen to read this book and learn more about her life and her rather rapid rise to fame, from her earlier Gogglebox days. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed by the content of 'Sofa, So Good'. I felt that she was trying too hard to be funny and at times found myself thinking: 'just be yourself Scarlett!' There are some anecdotes that just did not ring true... for instance recollections of herself as a seven-year-old and things that she remembers saying which were far too beyond her level of comprehension would have been at that age, further adding to the feeling that this book has been embellished quite a lot.

When reading biographies I don't particularly enjoy the early years, and so hoped that she would have given a lot more to her early 20s and other experiences in the celebrity world.

On the whole though, this was an easy and enjoyable read, and I loved the facts that Scarlett provided at the beginning of each chapter.

This is 3.5. I listened to the audio book.
An easy listen about her upbringing and how she made it onto the TV. She seems like she had an “ordinary” childhood and is a down to earth girl who does not seem to have let her fame go to her head.
I loved the Gogglebox, Celebrity and Saturday Night Takeaway chapters.

I love Scarlett to pieces but this book is not written well. There are some funny points but not enough to keep you interested! I couldn’t wait to finish

I enjoyed watching Scarlett on Goggle Box and I also watch Celebrity Jungle and Saturday Night Takeaway so I found this an interesting read to learn how, by doing a favour for a mate, landed her an offer for Goggle Box which led to her fame. I liked her honesty about her childhood and how she suffered at school. Listened to this on audio. 3 and a half stars.

I really enjoyed listening to this as it was narrated by Scarlett herself! Most of the content, I cried or laughed along with but I would say this is closer to a 3.5 out of 5 due to some of the content that kept repeating or that which I didn't agree with her opinions on. Nevertheless, a very entertaining read, and insight into Scarlett's life.

It's a funny and interesting book to read and funny in places. Scarlett is a down to earth girl who loves her family and don't let things/bully's from school bother her.
Reading about I'm a celebrity.... Get me out of here was brilliant. I liked reading about Scarlett and her mam fangirling. I would of loved to of been at the star wars convention unlike Scarlett's mam who didn't.

I don't read many autobiographies (I should read more), but I couldn't resist this one as I think Scarlett Moffatt is such a lovely character. I have to admit, I haven't watched much of Gogglebox, but I did really warm to her when she was on I'm A Celebrity. I absolutely love that programme! I love Ant & Dec and the contestants amaze me every year as there is no way you would get me out there with them spiders or eating gross things!! Scarlett was a very deserving winner.
I've seen a few comments such as 'how can a 20 odd year old have enough life experience to write an autobiography?' and I must admit I did wonder myself, but Scarlett proves that you don't need to be 80 to have led an interesting life already. Sofa, So Good! is a heart-warming, honest, modest, inspirational and totally hilarious life story (so far!). I have laughed so much throughout. I could hear Scarlett's voice in my head as though we were sat having a coffee whilst she told me her stories.
I'm in awe of Scarlett's strength and determination not to let bullies, health and anxiety problems stand in the way of her dreams. I had no idea she had been through such difficult times. It just goes to prove that we should always be kind as we never know what someone might be going through.
I have given this book to my 15 year old daughter to read as I think she will relate and I know she will be inspired.
Even if you know nothing about Scarlett Moffatt already, you will love her after reading this book.
I love how close Scarlett and her family are as it reminds me of me and mine. We're all a bit daft and love nothing more than just spending time together. I can't relate to being an only child for 15 years before my sister arrived though!
I also loved the random facts at the beginning of each chapter. Brilliant!
Absolutely loved it from the first page to last and highly recommend to everyone!
Many thanks to the publisher for my exclusive bloggers edition.

Oh... This book! It is incredible! I was a fan of Scarlett before reading this, having watched her on Gogglebox and when I was offered the chance to read her new book ahead of its' release, I jumped at the opportunity.

This is an incredibly honest, moving and funny look into Scarlett's life up to now. We are brought back to her childhood, a time where she struggled because she was quirky. We get to follow her journey to Uni, her early jobs and on to Gogglebox. We get to know her and her amazing family and follow their journey with Scarlett to this dream-like life she is living now.

What I love most about the way this book is written is that it is all Scarlett. You can tell she sat down and wrote every single word herself. It is her on the page. She is incredibly open, honest, funny and warm. She is just like us, she has insecurities and dramas. She is not afraid to be herself now, no longer desperate to fit in.

The journey Scarlett has been on, and no doubt will continue on, is so inspirational. She had a list of dream jobs and has achieved most of them. She has met most of her heroes and been to amazing places. And yet she takes nothing, not a single second, for granted.

I love it and repect her so much for her wonderful outlook. 11/10.

I feel so lucky to have read this book early, with huge thanks to Francesca Pearce at Bonnier Publishing for this opportunity!

I downloaded this as it was on audible 3 for 2 and I enjoyed Scarlett when she was on I’m a celebrity get me out of Here! so I thought that this book would be quite interesting.

I didn’t actually realise until I was almost through the whole book that this was her second book but I enjoyed it all the same.

This book has different chapters about her life – all starting with a few facts about something in the book and then ending with a life lesson or moral – which I really enjoyed.

This book really changed my opinion of Scarlett – for example, I didn’t realise that she was badly bullied at school and having come all through tha it makes her the person that she is today. I totally get that as I was bullied horribly at secondary school – to the point that I developed anxiety and refused to go. I think that this should be a must read for anyone going through that as there is light at the end of the tunnel and it really does get better.

I also didn’t realise that she was really into books – something that obviously I also enjoy. I wish more people would admit there love for reading – I’m all for that!

Overall a really enjoyable read – it was funny in places, sad in places and she’s a real humble nice person. A really good book. She also narrates it which I thought was fab!

Do you ever find that you have so many books you have carried around for YEARS but never read? This is the situation I have found myself in and I am determined that those books just need to be read, I can not seem to be able to give them to charity without giving them a chance!

Over my next few reviews, you will see books that have been around forever and aren’t new, but new to me in terms of reading. This time we have an autobiography. Scarlett Moffatt is a well-known name, she has made me laugh and cry from gogglebox to I’m a celeb. This is a book where I used to audiobook version also (again, #nurselife). The audiobook is narrated by Scarlett herself, I tell you now, if you are in need of a pick me up or need something cheerful then this is it.

Scarlett is beyond honest about her life, her highs and lows. I was pleasantly surprised by her honestly and actually, how relatable she is. Scarlett seems like a really down to earth person that I think as a northerner, I would get on well with. It hurt my heart to hear what others in the media and social media have said about her, it just makes me wish society was different and that things could change.

Overall, an easy read that cheered me right up and what I needed while working nights in the NICU.

This was a breath of fresh air, to be honest I didn’t know who she is but that was made clear of course within the book.
It charts Scarlett’s rise to the celeb world and her career in tv.
From such beginnings even as and adult she is remarkably down to earth unspoiled by and grateful for her recognition as a tv personality.
She seems to have a good and caring heart and speaks well of people and thinks a lot of even just people on the street as she never forgets where she came from.
Loved the chatty way she told her stories and the fact she is so intelligent and bookish comes across strongly, she has a huge passion for learning and reading.
Really enjoyed this (apart from the I’m a celeb aspect of her career.)
Didn’t enjoy those chapters one bit as the animal cruelty on there is vile and never watched an episode due to it so is a factor as to why I was unsure who she was.
A random buy / read but a really enjoyable one.

Good book overall, I like Scarlett Moffatt but if anything this book has made me like her slightly less. She writes quoted conversations from when she was less than 10. How anyone can quote a conversation they had when they were that age I don’t know. I would have found it more sincere if she had just told us the story rather than quoting. I understand she’s proud of being northern but I couldn’t read “me mam” any more. I don’t think it made the book any more authentic than if she had written my mum but reading other reviews people seem to relate to her laid back writing style. Other than the fact that I didn’t relate to her style of writing I really enjoyed the actual content of the book and parts were quite funny. Just slightly underwhelmed, but maybe I set my bar too high before I even had the book in my hands. Definitely worth a read.

In Scarlett's latest book, she discusses her life from her young school and dancing days up to now where she's become a self made star or celebrity off the success of her and her family appearing on Gogglebox.

As she discusses Gogglebox, I'm A Celebrity and everything happening since including going on Saturday Night Takeaway too, we discover a more unseen side to her of which we discover she's quite a shy and anxious person at times not just the loud out there personality we often believe from watching our TV.

The book is very open and honest as well as funny in parts, if you don't smile or laugh or relate to Scarlett at some point, there's something up with you!

I picked this up from the library, I didn’t know Scarlett, but she seems like a fun lady.
She has a good sense of humour, and it was a pleasant listen. I loved her stories about working in the supermarket for some reason. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had known her and followed her career as it would have provided a background/context for some of the stories. I can see that her fans would have got more out of the book than I did. A fun light read.

How can anyone not like Scarlett… she’s just such a sweet person and down to earth.. yes she’s become a celeb due to Gogglebox and I’m a Celebrity but she doesn’t come across as a celeb with all the flashy material things.

She’s genuinely a lovely person who just wants to do well in life and she is definitely someone who you’d love to meet for coffee and cake or cocktails after work.

This book was such an easy listen, I’m sad it’s come to an end!

This book was fab. Listend on audio so it was great to hear Scarlett tell her own story. I literally laughed out loud and also cries. This girl is so down to earth and has been through so much at school and then her Dad having cancer. I am a Scarlett fan anyway but this book was so much better than I anticipated and she is such an inspiring and intelligent lady who I also feel I could sit on the sofa and have a brew with!
