This volume includes four more short stories from new perspectives!
D.R. Perry writes primarily in Revealed World. These are open UF YA Academy books with diverse characters and cute magical critters. She lives with her spouse, child, and dog in Rhode Island.
This is one geeky author who loves writing for the sense of adventure and wonder. In her books, you’ll find real characters, fantastic worlds, and a handful each of humor and hope.
D.R. hopes you have as much fun reading her books as she did writing them.
As with all boxed sets, some stories - and characters - appeal more to me than others. My favorite, for example, is Tony & Olivia's venture into the Under, with Bianca & Horace's story a close runner-up.
You need to have read at least Bearly Awake (ideally all the earlier stories) to appreciate the big picture.
Overall 3.5 / 5 stars.
(On the technical side, the stories could have benefitted from a little more proofreading TLC.)
Providence Paranormal College Volume Two: Books 6-10 (Providence Paranormal Box Sets Book 2) by D.R. Perry
4 stars reviewed by Amanda Tharp
Paranormal college This book took me the rest of the way through the journey! There is alot of suspense and speculation along the way. Through it all I could have never guessed who would have saved everyone from the Magnus! I would definitely recommend reading this series! I rate this book with four stars.
I’ll be honest: this series caught me by surprise. What started out as pretty formulaic paranormal romances in the first three or four books turned into an interesting reinterpretation of the Fae and the role of magical education in the human realm.
This collection completes the series by combining the last five books in one hefty, entertaining package. Is this series perfect? No. Is it an interesting read? Yes. Does the formula of finding some sort of predestined love to discover the next link in the mystery chain continue? Yes - mostly.
These final books have a different feel than the first half of the series — the final book has large sections written from the perspective of two precocious children, for example, and, in the case of our ghost protagonists, they don’t necessarily “live” happily ever after — but it is a welcome change as we learn more about the Fae and the human mystery that intertwines with it.
My only real complaint is the abruptness of the ending. Without giving any thing away, we are allowed to see the end of the mystery, but we aren’t allowed to see how it plays out in the bigger picture. The climax occurs and startlingly, D.R. Perry slams the door on her world. It seemed strangely exclusionary: you can see the end, but you don’t get to celebrate or mourn with these folks you’ve spent a very long time with throughout the ten books.
I recommend reading this series like I did: read the first collection; take a break; start wondering about the mystery; dive in and finish the series in one fell swoop. It’s an interesting, entertaining read with some very nice moments and just enough fairy tale endings to keep the cynic in me at bay.
Full disclosure: I received an advanced reader’s copy of this collection in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I am impressed with how D. R. Perry handled all of the storylines and brought it all to a wonderful meeting of all the different ones that needed to be where they were needed at the right time! I loved that even though they were younger than the other ones, they were allowed to do what needed to be done without interference from the older ones who were watching over them. Anyway, I wish I had the kind of friendships that grew in this world, I would never leave! This storyline has many different types of supernatural people who grow to be not just friends but family! Because of these relationships the day is won! You don't want to miss this story!
This is the final five books in this series, which follows a group of friends, paranormal and human, who find themselves facing a threat against themselves and their school. Fun characters and fast paced writing make this a really good series, and as in volume one there is new material in the form of short stories sandwiched between the books.
I really enjoyed the series. It was a great interrelated set of stories. The characters were fun and realistic. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys good stories. I actually never know how each individual story was going to end, although I had high hopes they would and happy.
Again, Perry has created a realistic alternate world with very relatable characters who are still fun, fun, but also growing up. This set is where kids are facing the results of old actions, as messy as those fixes might be, and still managing - barely - to save the day. I still want to meet the Tin Foil Hat Pack - I need to be around these people!
Providence Paranormal College (Books 6-10): Roundtable Redcap, Better Off Undead, Ghost of a Chance, Nine Lives, Fae or Fae Knot (Providence Paranormal College Boxed Sets Book 2)
I loved 🥰 that even though they were the students were of various ages. This book had me at the edge of my seat, loved the way the stories flowed from one book to another.
These books have many different types of supernatural people who grow to be not just friends but family! Because of these relationships the day is won! I really wished the ending of the story was a bit longer, it felt like it just stopped after years of differences, would of loved to know just what happened to all the couples . Please write a novella to expand on the ending and everyone so was involved.
These are really good stories. I read both anthologies and enjoyed them all. However. Editing needs to be much tighter. Every book has instances of words left out of sentences, spellchecker errors, & sloppy plotting or continuity. For example, Tony worries throughout his book about the copper tipped arrows & is surprised when they work on a non-cat, when on pg 6310 Kiki states that they become the bane of whoever they're used against. On 9582, the King places "one heart" on his chest, obviously a spellchecker error for 'hand,' based on the context. Bianca gives herself insulin yet nearly dies minutes later because she doesn't have her insulin until Horace saves her, in the street kidnapping episode. Please tighten up your editing!
If you are looking for urban fantasy with a heavy dose of nerdom and a dash of romance, then this is the series for you. These last 5 books in the series were all highly entertaining. My one complaint with many of the 5 here is that the romance was a little too light. I would have liked the relationships to be more developed. I have really enjoyed these stories in the series and wish there were more with these characters.
Very complex storyline. Enjoyed each story. Well developed characters. Interesting diversification of skills and personalities.

I loved these stories and the character development is great. BUT the continuity errors go from bad to terrible as if someone else wrote the later stories. The editing is non-existent with grammar and punctuation errors and some sentences that make no sense at all. Maybe LMBPN should stop rushing books to press and take time to actually edit.
From start to finish, this brilliant series builds, section upon section, to the final crashing crescendo. I hope there will be more from this cast of characters
Wow! This is a spectacular series, with a rollercoaster of feels, and intriguing mysteries. I highly recommend this set, and the set 1-5, to readers who love excellent written fantasy. Enjoy!
Just couldn't put this book down, I had to know what was next. So many twists and turns, plot changes, and the characters are amazing. I highly recommend to all who like fast faced, exciting and thought provoking fantasy stories.
