This series is a spin-off of the Bears of Burden series, although each book can be read as a standalone.

Charlie is a ballsy, badass wolf shifter.
She knows that for any man to truly satisfy her, he’ll have to be the strong, confident type.

When her mate rolls into town with his outlaw biker gang, he’s strong and confident alright.
She can’t believe fate would pair her with the rude, crude, leather-clad bastard.
Even if he is the hottest thing she’s ever seen.

NOTE: In the late 1800’s, on a homestead in New Mexico, a female shifter named Helen Cartwright was widowed under mysterious circumstances.
Helen knew there was power in the feminine bonds of sisterhood, and she provided an oasis for those like herself, female shifters who had been dealt the short end of the stick.
Like magic, women have flocked to the tiny town of Helen’s Corner ever since. Although, nowadays, some call the town by another name, Hell’s Crazy Corner.

It wasn’t just the mate bond that caused me to feel such protectiveness over her, it was that she didn’t deserve to be treated like she was irrelevant. She was smart, ambitious, talented, tough as nails. I didn’t like to hear her talked about like she was nothing more than tits and ass. She was more. Way more.

An MC biker bear meets his match in headstrong wolf shifter... 5+ stars!

I LOVED THIS NOVELLA! Axel and Charlie's story is hands down my favorite novella by C. Ayers; I loved absolutely everything about it. I'm so glad Ayers didn't hold back on Axel's character; he was crude and an absolute jackass but I loved him anyway. Charlie was the perfect match for him as she didn't back down from a confrontation and could hold her own against the intimidating biker gang. This novella was so steamy and had so much sexual tension and just enough conflict to keep us interested. I cannot wait to see what Ayers has in store for us next ♡

Tropes: fated mates, motorcycle club, alpha j/p hero, feisty heroine, rejected mates, hate-to-love-you, touch her and die vibes, small town, found family, STEAM🔥

Awesome Read!!

I loved reading Bear Outlaw(Shifters Of Hell’s Corner Book 4). All about Axel aka Alexander True a bear shifter & the head of Raging Bears MC Club & Charlie aka Charlotte Monroe a Wolf shifter and owner of CMSD a Lingerie store. A loud obnoxious bunch of bikers come rolling into Hell’s Corner and literally take over the B & B. The owner Muddy is out of town and Charlie is in charge. She goes over and see’s bedlam happening and she gives a shrill whistle and makes everybody get out. Axel is annoyed, because him and the boys are behaving in a boisterous lowed manner as they always do when they are on vacation! He also gets a whiff of something that is making his bear stand at attention, his mate, he & the boys leave and head out of town. Read about Axel & Charlie and the many obstacles they must both overcome before deciding mating is a good thing!! The author wrote and incredible series about a town full of women who are all very different but also have a common bond they have been hurt by men. This is a safe haven some where you can go and just be yourself, open a store and contribute to the local economy and live and be emotionally supported by other strong women who share your same values. And all these books in this series is about some of the women in this town who eventually find or stumble upon their mates. It’s a fantastic series, that has a lot of passion, anger, betrayal, eagerness & happiness to go around! So if this sounds like the type of stuff that intrigues you then read this series. The author is a great story teller!! And I have enjoyed it immensely!!

Bear Outlaw is the fourth book in the She-Shifters of Hell’s Corner Series and it tells of the romance of how fate can bring you someone you may not initially like, but someone who you need. Charlie has her life together, a proud home owner, a business owner, new aunt, and she craves the love of a mate and the future of babies. Axel is a high ranking member of a motorcycle club, proud of his elite bear-shifting heritage, working hard and partying harder, loving the single life, never wanting to settle down. When their paths cross, the desire is instant, but they hate everything else. Can Charlie and Axel find happiness or are they just too different to find a middle ground?

Oh wow, this book caught my attention right from the beginning. I have loved Charlie and couldn’t wait for her story, and boy, Ms. Ayers did not disappoint! I loved the dichotomy between Axel and Charlie, I loved how it was so easy to see their differences, but they worked so easily if they just stopped thinking. I didn’t love Axel in the beginning, but he quickly grew on me, especially as he reached out so much for Charlie. Charlie’s situation made my heart ache, but I’m so happy Axel could calm her fears. I was so happy with how this book came out and I have seriously loved this series! I love that the next book or two might be all set up and already can’t wait to read those!

Axel and Charlie

Charlie is one of the few remaining single women in their little group. She found out some very disturbing news about herself right as a group of bikers came into town. Muddy asked her to watch over the B&B while she was at a funeral. So Charlie had to go kick the whole group out. The were partying with booze, drugs and chicks in Muddy's dining room. The Sargeant at Arm's was the leader. He tried to intimidate her but it didn't work. She also realized that he was her mate.
Axel lead his MC chapter on a two week vacation. The heard that Helen's Corner held a bunch of shifter women so they went to check it out. The bikers were a partying racist group. They made fun of every species of shifter except bears because that was what they were. When Axel realized that Charlie was his mate he fought it.
Axel had things in his past that made trust difficult. He also tried not to go against his motorcycle group because they were the only family he had known.
With past things as well as present and future problems happening, could two people who are opposites learn to rely on each other?
I liked this book. I have a question about what changes Charlie could be going through especially if her senses got stronger. Maybe we will find out more in the next book.

The first three books of the She-Shifters of Hell's Corner have all been five star reads. “Bear Outlaw” is the best yet and is a five star plus. Charlie, a wolf shifter who owns and operates the lingerie shop has just received news from her doctor that she is infertile. Axel a bear shifter and his MC club have been told about all the single women in Hell's Corner so have decided to go there to party. When Axel and Charlie see each other the attraction is red hot and undeniable. They are definitely fated mates. Neither Charlie nor Axel want a mate or any long term relationship for that matter. Charlie certainly does not want a crass, rude, man-whore biker even if he is hot. Can Axel and Charlie resist the mating call? Can they really fight their destiny? Candace has once again written a beautiful steamy romance that will captivate you from the first page. “Bear Outlaw” is absolutely worth reading.

Bears and wolves, Oh my!
This the fourth book in the she-shifters series. It can be read as a standalone but you will want read all the books. They are just that good. Charlie, the heroine, is an independent, strong woman and a wolf-shifter. She has yet to find a man to match her dominant nature. Axel, the hero, is an outlaw biker soldier and a bear shifter. He doesn’t trust any woman because they always leave. These two meet and it’s an immediate knowing of finding their mates. They don't go easily into their happily ever after. They both fight it all the way until finally they are both face reality and find each other. The storyline is very interesting. The story flows really well from scene to scene. I love to read about Alphas falling for their one true mates and their sassy strong heroines. There are some very hot steamy sexy scenes between these two. It was a fun, quick read. I recommend this book.

This one had me nervous at first—Axel is a serious bad boy, the kind of mate you assume is going to need a full personality overhaul before anything works. But as the story unfolded, it became clear that Bear Outlaw isn’t about forcing change—it’s about natural shifts in priorities once the bond takes root.

What I loved here was the way the matebond wasn’t treated like a magic fix. It didn’t erase who Axel was—it just reshaped what mattered. That quiet transformation, watching someone hardened by life soften when it counts, made the story feel earned and emotionally satisfying.

Charlie’s strength never wavered, and the tension between her independence and Axel’s wildness created a dynamic that felt raw but balanced. The journey from clash to connection is what makes this one stand out.

A bold, gritty addition to the She-Shifters series that proves even the roughest edges can be smoothed—when the right person comes along.

This is Axel and Charlie's story . Charlie gets some really bad news on the day that the bikers hit town . She is unsure why her wolf is acting up but she is upset enough that with her anger she knows that she will kick butt if she needs too ! I love reading strong women !! Now Axel is unsure why his bear is acting up once he is in the b&b but figures whatever is going on he can handle it . When Charlie hits the b&b and sees what is going on man does it hit the fan !! She shows no fear while standing up to these huge bad bikers !! Now to be honest at first I was not sure about this one over the way that Axel and his brothers thought and talked about women but just hang in there and you will be ever so glad you did !! This is the first of this series that I have read and yes I will be getting the other 3 !! Well written and strongly recommended to all !!

The fourth in the She-Shifters of Hell's Corner series, Bear Outlaw lives up to the rough and crude nature of the MC club that bear shifter Alex True is a part of...and Charlie, strong wolf shifter and owner of her own lingerie business in Hell’s Corner, isn’t about to let them trash her town!

But complications arise as Charlie discovers her mate is none other than the rude, crude and totally-unsuitable-for-her biker, Alex. He’s not looking for a mate either and, we’ll, things don’t start well for the two of them.

But behind the crude, rude and arrogant is an enjoyable love story, albeit rough and tumble (on both sides)!

This was a fun story and an enjoyable addition to the series!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

Charlie has just been given some heart-breaking news when she meets her mate, so it’s probably a good thing that he’s absolutely the last person she’d ever want as a mate, and that the feeling is mutual. Or so they both think.

Okay. So after having read book five and book one, I decided to give the author one more chance and read book four, ‘Bear Outlaw,’ as I love shifter and MC stories. I really, really wanted for it to be better, but I’m reminded of the saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. Again, I liked the story but found it superficial and in need of some serious editing. I did actually see some character growth on Axel’s part but that wasn’t enough for me to forgive the errors and lack of depth. It’s such a shame, it really is, as with a little polishing this could be a really fantastic series.

A great 4th book in the series sees us reading Charlie's story. She runs her own boutique and makes underwear. She is upset after she visits her doctor for some test results and on the way she meets her mate.......although she doesn't want him. Axel is rough, rugged, tattooed, gruff and has an MC as a family. He smells his mate and after the second time he gives her then mating mark.

Charlie's life sound out of control as he mom and dad come back for a visit and get into her straight away. I will leave it there so I don't giveaway the story. My heart broke for the both of them as each one dealt with their own feelings on being mates. Will Axel end up battling his MC? Can Charlie work it out on her mind? A great read from start to finish. I'm just gonna say it. I did not like Axel in the beginning of this one - not even a little bit. However, I do like the world of Helen's Corner and the strong-willed, determined women who live there. So, I kept reading, hoping that this jerk would somehow redeem himself. While waiting for that redemption, I got to revisit a few past favorites from the series, share in some personal heartbreak with Charlie, and rejoice when Axel gives some even bigger jerks exactly what they deserve. In the end, Axel may not be my favorite fated mate from this series, but he just may be exactly what the force that is Charlie needs in her life. As always with this series, I did enjoy the read and can't wait to see what's next for this wacky town and its shifters.

Book four was very good, it was a little rough but it also tugged at your Heartstrings. Charlie is a no nonsense type of wolf shifter. Her bear is very dominant. She can't believe her eyes when she has summoned to the B&B of her best friend and Witnesses a total debauchery of the place. Then she sees her mate with two women on his lap.

Axel is a badass biker who comes into town with this crew to have a great time. To his surprise and amusement his whole crew is getting chastised by one dominant wolf shifter. Axel does not trust any woman.

These two are mates but we'll have a hell of a ride to accept it.

Charlie has been one of my favorite characters since the beginning of this series. After some heartbreaking news, she finally meets her mate and he is a JERK. Not only is he a jerk, but he is the leader of a group of motorcycle jerks. It's heartbreaking, but funny. If you know the women of Hell' Corner, you know how they are. I didn't like Axel at all when they first rode into town, but after he was smitten with Charlie, he began to grow on me. Things go from bad to worse before they get better. I do love how it turned out and can't wait for more. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This might have been the best one yet in this series. Charlie gets devastating news and meets her mate, all in the same day. The realization that her mate is a member of a MC and is a drinking womanizer is the last straw. When he "accidentally" gives her the mating bite, she is soo done.

Axel is perfectly happy with his life as a member of the Raging Bears MC. He gets all the booze and women he could possibly want and he finally has a family. One look and sniff of the mad-as-hell wolf shifter who throws his gang out of the BnB they have commandeered, and he is lost. When their lust leads to a spur of the moment mating bite he is changed forever.

This is one wild ride.

I really enjoyed this book!

I love the character of Charlie. She is headstrong, loyal, and protective. No matter what is going on in her life, she will always stand up for her friends. I did feel bad for her anytime she had to deal with her mother though.

Axel was a character that had to grow on me. At first, he wasn't written as someone that deserved Charlie. However, as the book went on, we learned more about him and also saw him grow and mature and want more out of life.

I loved that while Axel changed in many ways, there were some that didn't. I don't think Charlie would have still been as interested if he lost all his bossy growly ways.

4.5

It was hard to warm up to Axel because he really did come off as a Class A Jerk. As the storyline develops we see why he is how he is and how the two begin to interact and grow together as mates. It seemed very rushed toward the end and I would have given it a five if there had been a little more closure. By the time I got through all the bonus material I'd forgotten the first story! Instead of so many bonuses, maybe just a little bit more time bringing a HEA to the story that is a little more well-developed.

Ok….so I could not stand Axel and how his club brothers were. I get it they were an MC. MC’s can be dicks. But honestly he didn’t have to be as much of an ass as he was. I also hate that they both ended up being asses in the book. Charlie wasn’t nice either. She was a complete bitch about the whole he can’t be my mate and not willing to give it a chance.

Needless to say this was my least favorite. I love a good MC romance. The MC in this book was just a bunch of complete assholes and I didn’t like it.

A steamy and sexy Shifter romance. Book features Charlie, a strong, feisty, kick butt, female wolf shifter and Axel, a sexy, rude, arrogant and crude, bad boy MC Club member, bear shifter. Neither of these two is looking for their fated mate but that's what they discover when Axel and his crew ride into town and start raising heck at the B&B. Very entertaining and enjoyable book and addition to this series. I'm posting a completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.

I loved this story. Charlie was so much fun to read about. She has always been a strong character in these books and I was so happy to read about her and Axel. Axel was a great character who belonged to a MC club and was perfect for Charlie. Lots of fun in this story with lots of steam. After some angst the two have a HEA. Loved it and can't wait for the next one. I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received.

Oh Charlie, so stubborn and dominant until she meets her mate and all things vanish in her way of thinking, or does it. Axel comes to town after hearing about this little town full of all females thinking he is going to score a handful of love 'em and leave 'em behind until he gets a whiff of his mate, and boy does the testosterone go flying. Great match, wonderful characters and of course a great setting. Looking forward to more.

Helen's...

Helen's Corner, commonly known as Hell's Crazy Corner, is a town established by a shifter female, as a place of safety for other females. Although there are families & men who live there, an inordinately large number of single women are still in residence.
When an outlaw motorcycle gang decided to pay a visit, sparks fly...not all good!
I love this series of standalone, but connected stories.

Another well written story in the series. I just wish I could have enjoyed Axel more. I personally so not like MC books for the most part because of all the drinking, drugging, and calling women bitches all the time. There was a lot of that in this book. Those who like MC stories should enjoy this shifter version. And the insta-lust/connection between mates does make Axel start changing.

Heart pounding action and emotional twists and turns fill this highly entertaining romantic adventure. Highly entertaining and emotionally engaging reading.

Axel and Charlie are a highly explosive couple that begin with a undeniable attraction despite their differences. Charlie is a stable hardworking business owner and new aunt looking to settle down and have a family. Axel is a high ranking member of an MC and not looking to put down roots anytime soon. Crazy exciting and fun to read.

Gross

Ewwwww. So gross. I don't want to read OW/OM stuff. That doesn't belong in romances. This book is not "safe". It is gross and the male MC is a manwhore. He sleeps with other women right before and during the book. How is this romantic? It's not at all. It's disgusting, and so is this book. He's awful, and though she doesn't seem as promiscuous as he does, she slept with someone a few weeks ago. It is really just not a good book.

I am not going to give a synopsis of this book, the blurb does a good job of that. What I am going to say is that this author gets even better with each book she writes! This story was engaging, fun and occasionally snarky. I loved it! Any book that has me grinning from ear to ear after I finish it, remains on my permanent bookshelf. This book just got placed there!

Whirlwind

I really quite enjoyed Charlie and Axel going head to head on everything! They truly are complete opposites but need each other. The way both have issues to work through is difficult but they manage, not well at first, but they manage. I love the closeness that all these Hell's Corner women have together.

Ok but not my favorite of this series

Honestly, I was kind of bummed because Charlie is one of my favorites. I just couldn’t get into Axel. I thought she caved way too quickly and he was soooo crass to her from the get go, so that didn’t work for her character IMHO. I’ve liked this series though and will read the next one. I did like him a little better by the end.

Charlie finally met her match when she met Axel. I love Momma Jean and was thrilled when Charlie got her smell. It was horrible that Charlie was so willing to break her own heart over something she assumed Axel may or may not want without even discussing it.
