The enemies of book 1 & 2 are dealt with, so I guess its time to find some more.
Back to Lake Placid, 6 months on, and supplies are running low. The team have to make runs to other towns for supplies and not everyone is glad to see them.
I still don't understand why after 6 months Canada and other NATO countries are not stepping in to help, and this is not explored. Sure if Upstate NY was effected, then likely southern Ontario would be as well, but Canada is big, like very big, and I would expect Canada to send troops and technology down to help. At the very least there would be Canadians on the HAM radios, updating Americans on the world situation.
A couple new characters are added, and a couple new enemies. Some minor, some major. This book seems less of a full fledged story, but more of a stop gap between books. It lacks the depth of the others in the series, while having similar run-times.
Overall, not much happens in this entry and it lacks the tension of the previous books, but it is definitely better written and paced better than book 2.
Another pretty good entry, more of the quality of book 1.
....it is! Three books in three days, they were that good!!!! One of the great things about this series is that there are NO boring parts!!!! Jack Hunt has the style of writing that just keeps on giving!!! If you want a VERY realistic EMP apocalyptic book series, then this, as well as his other series, are what you want to read!!! Well done, Jack Hunt!!! You are now in my TOP FIVE list of apocalyptic authors!!!! Thanks for keeping us so well entertained!!!!! Excellent editing!!!!!
This book is graphic and violent, much the way I might envision a world with no rules to be enforced. Every re el group has their own set of rules.
Months after the EMP, (electromagnetic pulse) would you still be alive?

Elliot and his group split up into two groups to find food and supplies. They each come under attack and each group suffers casualties. They regroup and leave Lake Placid for a new home. Ryan and his brother are in Texas in a walled village with many others but the wall is breached by the General and his men who kill many and take over command. Ryan and his brother fight back and plan to fight from within to win their freedom.
Great author, have enjoyed his work. This series is one of my favorites. The lead characters all have done things they regret, but want desperately to be better people since the EMP. Damon is one of my favorite characters as he works to make up for past deeds he doesn't like. Even Jill overcame her demons in this book. I look forward to the next book, keep writing Mr. Hunt and working your magic.
Another very good installment of this series. Though there were a few errors, like character names being wrong etc, it effectively told this grim story. Initially I thought it was incredible that they would consider travelling from New York to Texas just on the hope of a safe place being broadcast on the radio, but I guess, in the terrible, hopeless situation they were in, any chance might be worth pursuing.
I try to save Jack Hunt's books for those times I have a large block of time to spend on them because I have a real problem putting them down. We keep losing main characters as the chaos get worse and worse. In times like these people are either at their best or worst and sometimes it's hard to tell which it is that they are. The next one is out now. I'm trying to see how long I can go without ordering it.
For fans of post-apocalyptic fiction, I’d highly recommend this series. It’s fast paced, relatively realistic, and fairly well written. Most important, the characters often make reasonable (or at least understandable) decisions, making the book more enjoyable to read. I even learned a thing or two about surviving during the apocalypse (and the way this planet is going, that’s no longer out of the realm of possibility...).
Story was amazing..I've read about 800+ apocalyptic books from various authors..Jack Hunt is my 2nd best Author...sorry Druga has you beat (for now) couldn't put book down..love Damon and Elliott...not to vulgar limited foul language..recommending to all my same book minded friends..thank you
If you like post apocalyptic fiction this series is a must read. Just finished this (book 3) and looking forward to book 4. I have red well over 100 books in this genre and have truly enjoyed this series so far. Will be starting book 4 as soon as I finish this review.
I sure hope nothing like this happens in my lifetime even though it is a real possibility. Just everyday survival as real as in the series "The Walking Dead." It was hard to put this book down because I didn't want to wait to see what happened next to each character. Probably why I finished the book in one day! Good job Jack! !
This book is a well- told and engaging story that is hard to put down. Realistic outcomes to difficulties, instead of resorting to fairytale resolutions. Unlike the previous books in this series, Days of Danger works well as a standalone book of you have not read the earlier books in the series.
This continuation of the saga adds some new story lines. Fortunately Jack kept the tension going and character development. Often when new threads are added, there’s a chance of losing characters and moving in a different direction. I’ll probably read the next installment.
Well written. Captivating. And entertaining.....this author is becoming more and more skilled in laying out his story. The adjustments, emotionally, that these people have to make are stunning. But they continue to morph themselves into survivors. The future remains bleak, but the motivation to live is incredible.
It's been six months since the EMP and Elliot, Jesse, Maggie and Damon's return to Lake Placid and all is not well. Food is at a premium and violence is escalating. Forced to go further afield, trouble comes as other towns also have nothing. Good story, as the struggle continues knowing life will never be the same.
This series is very realistic and informative. The events and people pull the reader in and the story is very real. You want to know what happens next. The action is fast paced and keeps the reader involved. Looking forward to more in this series.
I g ave the book 5 stars because I think the author has evolved as well as the people and storyline. A totally engaging struggle for survival, that has me rooting for the characters and waiting impatiently for the next novel.
This is ur third book of series I have read, I've been reading a lot of westerns... So thought I'd change it up a bit\!!! Its not something I'm knowegable adout ?? But if there is any chance I might learn ?? I like it !
While i would have saved ella in general it reads like I would expect it to be should the grid be shut down. As much as I would like to think positive about man kind in general i also believe it would get real brutal real fast.
This series is unlike many in that the protagonists are ill prepared, make decisions based on emotions versus tactical necessity, and often are confronted by loss. In truth, probably a realistic depiction of what many would face. Good read...
These books just keep getting more intense as the story flows along. This book had some heartbreak but also some kernels of hope. Hope for a better tomorrow for everyone still surviving. I can't wait to read the next in the series.....I'm totally hooked!!!
I loved this continuing saga of the group. Couldn't put it down, but didn't want it to end either. Can't wait to start the final book, Days of Terror! You will not be sorry if you buy this series.
Jack, you gotta stop killing off the good guys. I grow to like a character and they are dead by the end of the book. Or stop making me care about them so much. So, no more killing good guys. Please
I don't want to give away any of the plot. Excellent writing. Great character develop ent, fast moving story and it's believable. The only complaint is when he called the floor, the ground.
I feel so connected to the characters in this series. I haven’t read in so long and this series caught my attention and awoke my passion for reading again. I will be reading more books by jack hunt
Ok, loved the first two and enjoyed this one but, becoming very predictable, everyone is a marksman (except the bad guys). Even people who have never shot in anger before. Still 4 stars, a good read but if book four is more of the same then end of series for me
Continue to follow the characters from Lake Placid as they fight for their town, continue to search towns around them for supplies and make it through each day alive. Meet new characters in Serenac and a group in Texas.
I am loving this series. The character development is great and the location details really give you a good visual. I hate when a book ends. I always want more. My only criticism is the proof reading and editing. I am noticing many typographical errors.
Just as exciting as previous but a bit too goofy in parts. Distracted from story. Will continue reading this series as if it's true my possible it's actually terrifying
Jack Hunt once again delivers a great novel with characters you've got to love and others you'll have forever! This series is unforgettable on many levels, it's got love, hate, ambition and of course a nice little bit of violence and mayhem. Loved it!
