Denver, A Boomtown Story is a summary of the uprising story of a town named Denver. The book starts off with the gold rush which is how Denver gained its popularity, and then goes through the expansion of the town with the addition of the railroad and millionaires building their mansions. The book ends with the massive buildings in Denver now and how the city has continued to grow. However, I enjoyed reading this book because of the people in the book. For example, President Theodore Roosevelt “host[ed] a fund-raising banquet at which 1500 cigars were smoked!” The book grabbed my attention when it talked about the people and their stories and how their stories made what Denver is today. I would say this book is what you read if you want to learn about a summary of the history of Denver. It has details you need to understand the history of the town and does not smother you with excessive descriptions.
