A bio is a weird thing to write.

Just trying to imagine presenting the highlights of ME sets off alarm bells in my head. Why would anybody want to know anything about me? What about me is remarkable enough to tell?

When I think about these questions, I recall lying on my bed back in high school, headphones muffed over my ears, heavy metal blasting through my head. As with most teens, music’s power seduced me, and as I listened, I found myself admiring the albums' cover art (yeah, I’m old enough that I used to by LP’s) and I found myself reading about the singers and guitar players and drummers in the liner notes. Why? Because those musicians had created something that was deeply personal, passionate, and wonderfully emotional, and they’d shared it with the world. They’d shared it with me.

It made me want to know them through more than just their music. So, I read.

Through the years, I found myself reading about writers I’d enjoyed, historical figures I’d admired, politicians who weren’t dipshits, and business leaders who’d built great companies. Again, why? Who the hell knows? We’re all just people. I think we find each other interesting. We like to feel connected.

And that was my answer, at least as to the WHY.

On the WHAT I can say about me, for those who feel moved by my work: I’ll give it a quick go.

I was born an Air Force brat and lived in a dozen states before I graduated high school. I’ve worked my way through a wide variety of jobs, left most on a whim, owned businesses, lived through times when I had more money than I knew what to do with, and worried my way through times when I wondered how I’d pay the rent.

Life has been boring at times, and it’s been plenty exciting, too. So far.

I’ve traveled to India, stood atop the tallest mountains around, swam with sharks, smarted-off to cops, and been arrested. I’ve tried beer and weed, but never made a thing of either one. I’ve been brushed too close by death a few times. Thankfully, doctors, EMT’s, and nurses were kind enough to put all the pieces together again. I've ridden my bike so deep into the mountains it felt like I was alone on the edge of heaven, and I've watched the red sun sinking on an evening so clear it looked like it was falling off the edge of the world.

I’ve always had a hard time being where I am, wherever that is. My daydreams forever call from just over the horizon.

I’ve been asked by a dozen bosses where I see myself in five years, and I've lied every time, always telling them what they wanted to hear. Because the only thing I knew for sure, was that I wanted to be anywhere but there.

This is the finale of a series that must be read in order. This is it. The final offensive where we put all our eggs in the basket in the hopes of freedom.

I won the first book several years ago in a Goodreads giveaway and that is what hooked me on this series. I liked the mood and atmosphere. It was dark, gloomy, and very little hope. I thought the author portrayed the current situation realistically. This mood carried throughout the whole series including this book. Unfortunately that might be the only aspect for this book that held true to the rest of the series. The whole series was a slow burn until this book. We get the final battle in which we have done all this buildup for and we are going to fast track it? We have two different fronts and one of these fronts is going to happen off screen? I think you can tell I was a little disappointed by this change of story telling. Truthfully, it somewhat felt like the author lost his steam for this series. Maybe it is me and I was expecting more of an explosive finale for the conclusion. But even his painting of the scene fell a little flat for me. There were some sections of this book that I read but I sort of zoned out. Not the best sign for the final book.

I realize that my review seems like I should be giving this a lower rating. I did like it but I might be grading this particular book with the whole series and story arc in mind. I had some minor issues with this book. I did like my time back in this universe. I just wish the author delivered more with this book. Let's face it. If you have read this series to this point you are going to read this one as well. Just do not expect the quality of the other books as there is a little dip in it. Not to deter reading this though.

Really enjoyed these books up to this point. This one was still great, but it felt like the author got tired of writing this story and wanted to move on. The last couple of pages were full of action then the last sentence was like, "humanity will survive, the end." What the heck just happened!? Seriously! Nothing was wrapped up except the moon and no mention of Jill's ship and what happened to her. Only allusions as to what might be happening on Earth. No further mention of the colonies. Anyway, I just felt cheated. As someone else said, this book was about 75% the finale and 25% the prequel to what happened to Kane's father. Those pages would have been better spent telling us what happened to our favorite characters...and even the ones we didn't like so much. Sooo many unanswered questions!

Dylan and Phil have a plan to defeat the Grays and their Trog minions and win back the Earth. Now all they have to do is accomplish the impossible and beat the unbeatable and do it all yesterday.

As usual, the author has delivered a marvelously intricate storyline with his bighead heroes, Dylan, Phil and Nicky - Phil's Gray wife. Wait . . . his what? He's lost his flipping, bug-infested mind? Never mind, you got this far, you know he is.

Back in action aboard the Turd 2, a much better craft than the original Flying Turd, the revolution is underway. All they have to do is recruit an army, find weapons and gear to supply them. Take out the orbital defense platforms, the Grays' base and weaponry on the Moon, and Pyongyang and the MSS. That's all. That's it. Okay, now I'm crazy because I believe! Tinkerbell will live because I believe! I think they can do it! Or not.

This final book in the Freedom's Fire Series brings the war to an end. Not exactly the way I expected, but . . . well find out for yourself!

I can heartily recommend this book and this series. The characters are well developed and delightfully bizarre. The science holds a measure of validity, combined with a modicum of license. But then, these are Grays! Aliens! Invaders from the depths of space, conscripting the population of Earth to run the factories to build their war machines and fight their enemies! I mean . . . really!

An incredible, fast-paced, and well written story. It felt like a Call of Duty campaign in the stars and it kept me enthralled. The last book really hits on how soldiers can be bogged down and demoralized from the hardships at war. I even felt hard pressed to continue the story because I felt the same as the characters. When they all had to move on so quickly from death and destruction to complete the various missions, i felt the hollowness as well.

My only gripe with the story is twofold, firstly, that it ended rather abruptly. Secondly, that the main character, Dylan Kane, didn't evolve much as a person. He became more and more the better soldier and commander, but never grew in terms of relationships with those around him. His love with Silva felt empty, and his relationship with his "brother" Phil was extremely one sided and it definitely wasn't Dylon that helped much to build that relationship.

All in all, what an absolute thrill ride of a story. I always felt I was right there with Dylon and his platoon on their raids and excursions. The action was written masterfully and the setting always pictured perfectly in my mind.

Beautifully written action filled military space opera. I don't know about the "opera" part, but it's a fast paced run that I enjoyed for sure. A strong series throughout, which is unusual.

The first three were a single unit and then the next volumes were kinda separate commando-missions. The pace of the series felt very similar to the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells in the sense that it begins as a crazy fight for survival for the first half of the series. Similarity continues also with relatable characters and smart humor.

Another parallel I would draw is a solid Estonian sf series of "Saladuslik Tsaar" which also covers the same checkboxes (imho).

I don't remember what was the last series that was such a solid performance throughout so I could recommend it to a friend without adding a "but" in there.

Not Happy

Big fan of all of Bobbys solo writing books, this one is no exception. Why 2 stars then? Well at 75% in I was loving it and thinking, woohoo still a quart to go, but no. Book finished at 76% and then freedoms siege starts, which I have already read, was completely gutted. Seems like such an easy way to pad out the book, yup, not long enough, let's throw in a short story I have already released. Would have given this book 5 stars in its own no matter the length and begged for a sequel (I'm sure I have already given the free story 5 starts). Totally wasted my enjoyment of the book. Hope you actually read these reviews Bobby and take note.

I love this series and this installment doesn't disappoint. We get more creative space battles with Dylan, Phil and the free army. Great solutions to the problems of fighting in space against a much stronger enemy. I love the way each book has a self contained story that more or less finishes within the pages of the particular book. A lot of "series" out there today are more like a very long (or not so long) book with no resolution of anything at the end of each segment. I'm sad to finish this series. I feel almost like Dylan and co. are part of my family after spending so much time with them. I hope Bobby Adair is writing furiously on something else.

I'll buy anything he puts out.

There is so much left of this series that could be written about. Even though I struggled through the first 3 volumes I'm sad that it's over. I really wish we were shown what the colonies were like, shown how strong humanity became.

I feel the book was ended prematurely. Like a few other reviews have said, it's full fledged action right up until the last 3 or so pages, then it ends with the cliché "and humanity will survive"

And honestly, aside from that, I don't have many negative things to say about this book, many of the issues I had with the first few books were not present here. But I am not happy with how it abruptly ended.

Slow to understand plot

I chose the rating of 4stars because when I read the first book, it seemed disjointed! That was my problem though! I wish I could have read the prequel first!
I began to enjoy the series rapidly! In hindsight I loved the series! Really I could rate it 5 stars (as it should be) but I was lost in th characters, but found the plot!
My advice to new readers start with book 2 or 3, and then reread the beginning.
Would like to end the story as successful win by humanity! But we will see!

Well, that was an all-action ending, if a little abrupt. But then, it did cover the how, where, when etc. though I was surprised things weren't tided up a little more. It did make sense and our logic had to guess the rest.

I have the omnibus edition, so I am just about to read the prequel...sometimes that only makes sense at the end?

Well-written, a great plot, realistic characters, dark yet funny in places (dialogue), philosophical and psychologically challenging.

A great series and highly recommended.

Good Finale...but shorter than you think!

A good ending to a really good series. However, it hits you quickly because the end is really at about 75% of the way through the book. The mini story, Freedoms Siege, is tacked on to the end. Because of this, I was expecting a bit more to happen and I was surprised when the story ended rather abruptly. I kind of get the feeling the author put it to rest to quickly...therefore I’m giving it three stars instead of four.

Great book and awesome series. I went through them very quickly. I enjoyed the characters and action sequences in the series. I wish we could have tied up more loose ends. I wanted to hear about Jill and the other Arizona Class ship. I was waiting to have them appear and save the day. I also wanted to hear about the colonies. I wanted The crew to leave and head to the new worlds. Good books overall and I enjoyed them.

Spectacularly written

I am a fan of the author. This series was expertly written and I had mental visual images of events as they unfolded. I found it very difficult to stop reading the story and took it on vacay to the Caribbean and to London. His Ebola series and Slow Burn series of books were equally well written. I look forward to more writings from Bobby Adair.

Great conclusion to the series, real drama, consequences and tension leaves you gripped to the very end; even the characters gain a depth that was previously only hinted at.

Though the saga is complete, the author has created a world that is fully worth revisiting in the future - and I hope he takes the opportunity to do so.

Is this really the END ?

I really enjoyed this series and it's given me a taste for sci-fi books which were an uncharted realm for me.
As for the series, although Bobby Adair has said this was the final installment it seems to end with stories still to be told, I certainly hope so anyway.

Yet another fantastic read to the grand finale

Aliens have won the war again, but not if Dylan and his crews can successfully take the fight right to the Gray overlords. Will he succeed?

Great Military Sci-fi series!!

Really enjoyed all of the books in this series. Author does a great job of showing as opposed to telling. Characters were likable, realistic and smart. Very fast paced from beginning to end. Highly recommended.

Although I felt that something was omitted from the final battle (and it's cleanup), I enjoyed the entire series very much. It is a great sci-fi, dystopian space opera and I highly recommend it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

A solid ending to the series. Not complete, but solid. There are a couple twists that make things feel like they're not a sure thing up to the finish.

You can currently pick up the entire series for $0.99. I would recommend it.

Intriguing plot, interesting characters, and an entertaining narration — no cliffhangers. Like the author’s style though there’s some profanity and sexual stuff--use fast forward. A pleasant reading experience.

I read the first book in this series in early 2021, but was not compelled to continue the series. On a business trip in 2023 I grabbed the entire series and found it to be a good distraction from the grueling meetings.

Really enjoyed the series until the end of this book. Feels like he just got tired of the story and wrapped it up quickly and messy. I found it very unsatisfying way after the 5 and a half good books.

Very short installment but nice wrap up to this series. Nothing special overall but an enjoyable read if this subject matter interests you and you like what if scenarios related to the current climate of mystery that surrounds us in the real world.

These books are hard to put down once you start reading them. I Have read the whole series, Bobby Adair has created a detailed universe that draws you in. This story would be perfect if Bobby Adair did not repeat some of the information like he did.

Fun

A good read. Needs some careful editing. The prequel was interesting. Definitely would not want to read before. I like the suspense.
