Sisters Liz and Keechie have magic-filled adventures with their new neighbor, Amanda.
Amanda is able to make a cardboard 'Time Travel' machine really work, has a cat that's actually a tiger, and likes to encourage Liz and Keechie to do things that could really get them in trouble. It's this last part that bothered me about this book. I never felt like Amanda was responsible enough, or in control of her 'powers' enough, to ensure the sisters' safety. If you want better books written for kids with this theme, try "Mr. Pudgins" by Ruth Christoffer Carlsen or "The Pecular Miss Pickett" by Nancy R. Julian or the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books by Betty MacDonald.
