The Bad Guys are about to have a VERY BAD DAY! Mr Wolf and his bad, bad buddies have messed with the wrong guinea pig. And this nasty little furball wants revenge! Will they survive? Will they be heroes? And will they just stop trying to eat each other? It’s time to put on your chuckle-pants and find out!
Aaron is an Australian author of children's books and artist who until the mid-2000s was also an actor. His award winning picture books include Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley, The Ghost of Miss Annabel Spoon and the best-selling Pig the Pug.
In the field of acting, he is probably best known for his lead roles in two television dramedies, 1994's The Damnation of Harvey McHugh, for which he won an Australian Film Institute Award, and 2003's CrashBurn, before retiring from performance in 2005.
The Good Guys are after a mad scientist and it gets really crazy and funny. They have another team member since book one, a spider named Legs. Great series for kids!
The bad good guys are back. The rescued chickens from the Sunnyside farm interview to tell that the bad good guys actually helped them escape and the world is trying to make sense of it and meanwhile Mr. Wolf has come with another plan to continue their streak of being the good guys. But they find out that they were lured by none other than the guinea pig, Marmalade. In the last book, the good guys freed 10,000 chickens from Sunnyside Farm and Marmalade happened to own that and here he is back to take revenge.
A secret spy helps rescue them and Mr. Wolf becomes smitten with the secret spy. That secret spy happens to work for International League of Heroes. Marmalade still escapes but he has unleashed a secret weapon. The good guys stay back to take care of the secret weapon.
Another good addition to the series. It is full of witty lines and good art.
This is funny, but incomplete. Unlike the previous two books in the series, this one doesn't really have a full plot. A new character is introduced, the villain escapes, and the Bad Guys have another new problem to deal with.
The funny touches are all there, complete with snark and bathroom humour. But this book feels kind of rushed and light on plot, at least compared to the previous installments.
Luckily, I've already got the next book, The Bad Guys in Attack of the Zittens, so I can keep reading and find out if this story arc gets resolved.
The gang’s latest adventure sees them being set up by an evil guinea pig who’s also a mad scientist, who wants to get rid of them. However, the BGs get a little help but end up in a real pickle. B+ (83%/Very Good)
Evil, mad-scientist guinea-pig Dr. Rupert Marmalade strikes back in this third hilarious beginning chapter-book/graphic-novel about the (mis)adventures of a crew of would-be-good bad guys from Australian author/artist Aaron Blabey. Lured to Marmalade's secret compound in the woods, the companions - Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Legs the tarantula - soon find themselves in hot water. Unbeknownst to them, however, their activities are being tracked by a cunning ninja who may, or may not, turn out to be an ally...
Like its predecessors, The Bad Guys in The Furball Strikes Back is hysterically funny, pairing an action-packed madcap adventure story with humorous cartoon-style illustrations. The back-and-forth between the various characters is quite amusing, and I appreciated the appearance on the scene of Special Agent Fox of the International League of Heroes. The conclusion, in which Dr. Marmalade unleashes his next horrific weapon - ! - had me reaching immediately for the next installment of the series, The Bad Guys in Attack of the Zittens. Recommended to anyone who has read and enjoyed the first two Bad Guys books.
Mr Wolf is great and I love all of his attempts to boost up his teammates. It feels like the gang is starting to get a little unsure about what they're doing as good guys, but the piece of advise to believe in yourself was dropped.
The upside down argument was the highlight of this for me, the matryoshka doll situation was gross and funny. I think it's whack that Marmalade seems to be our main bady, hopefully he gets more chance to show how evil he is next time.
I'm excited to see what happens with Mrs. Fox, I hope it's not annoying. I don't mind Wolf being a little swooney right now, but I hope they get past that. I really just want more Mr. Snake though. I know where his story goes and it seems crazy.
My daughter and I took turns reading this book. We both liked this one more than the 2nd book and are really looking forward to the fourth book with the zombie kittens. The evil guinea pig is just a fun character.
This is in graphic novel format, but, I would say that it is excellent for that somewhat reluctant reader who wants some humor and action.
There's kiddie violence, but, other than that should be fine for even fairly strict parents.
My favorite part is the beginning of the book where the chickens (who were featured in Book #2) give testimonials about being set free by Mr. Wolf and his friends.
And I especially love the end of the book because it sets up the plot for Book #4 (which will be out in a few weeks). At the end of the book, zombie kittens have been created----and zombie kittens are called ZITTENS! How could anyone not get behind a book about zombie kittens??
Another enjoyable installment to this fabulous kids series. Although this one does lack the environmental message that comes with most of the other books in his repertoire. I'll just say this: zombie kittens!
Not as good as the first two in the series, but still fun. The villains turned good guys are struggling to get along, but they have to fight a mad scientist Guinea pig! What?!?! Dr. Marmalade is tired of being cute and cuddly and wants to change things. What diabolical scheme does he create to rule the world? Hmmmm?
In This book, the good guys have messed with the wrong Guinea pig! His Name turns out to be marmalade but he tricks them by pushing a button which says “THIS BUILDING IS GOING TO SELF-DESTRUCT IN 79…78..77…76…75..” whateves and then in 5 minutes…..Actually, why would I be telling from the middle to the end when I am writing a review?
There is something magical about a fart joke, and even more so, poo jokes. So my son (rightly so) claims this to be one of the best books in the series. I am not so sure. I am sure it is just a blip but I will need to be convinced in book 4. I would never in a million years tell my son this though.
