This book is an incredibly fast read. It’s calling itself a comprehensive guide to Chess openings but only few openings are covered and the coverage doesn’t even begin to touch the surface of the subjects. If you are a beginner and looking for an introduction to opening play, then there are many much better guides than this one.
Overall: helpful, but in some parts the author takes leaps that can cause confusion considering the occasional mistakes in notation. Also as someone else mentioned here - “comprehensive” is a bit of a stretch here. It goes through 6-10 moves at each most popular opening, and provides some general cheerful advice.
Working through the examples was very instructive. I'm starting his second book in the series. There are mis-prints that caused some confusion but can be worked through.
I found this very informative and comprehensive. He teaches at least 20 openings. I would recommend have a print out of the chess algebraic board while you read so you can visualize the openings.
This was an interesting book. I have played chess before, but it did bring to mind the WHY's of making certain moves that we make. It is well worth the time to read if you are a chess enthusiast. A good book chock full of knowledge of the moves to make wise openings to your game. After watching and reviewing the movie, PAWN'S MOVE, I regained an interest in chess.
