A comprehensive guide?

This book is an incredibly fast read. It’s calling itself a comprehensive guide to Chess openings but only few openings are covered and the coverage doesn’t even begin to touch the surface of the subjects.
If you are a beginner and looking for an introduction to opening play, then there are many much better guides than this one.

Overall: helpful, but in some parts the author takes leaps that can cause confusion considering the occasional mistakes in notation.
Also as someone else mentioned here - “comprehensive” is a bit of a stretch here. It goes through 6-10 moves at each most popular opening, and provides some general cheerful advice.

Helpful for the Beginner

Working through the examples was very instructive. I'm starting his second book in the series. There are mis-prints that caused some confusion but can be worked through.

Good beginner book

The author uniquely explains the major openings. It is a good book for those new to chess. I would recommend it.

I found this very informative and comprehensive. He teaches at least 20 openings. I would recommend have a print out of the chess algebraic board while you read so you can visualize the openings.

This was an interesting book. I have played chess before, but it did bring to mind the WHY's of making certain moves that we make. It is well worth the time to read if you are a chess enthusiast. A good book chock full of knowledge of the moves to make wise openings to your game. After watching and reviewing the movie, PAWN'S MOVE, I regained an interest in chess.
