The Walker #3

Fight of the Walker

Rate this book
I’m desperate to rescue the men I love, so when the smooth-talking Ethros leader, Commodore Cavil, comes along, its almost too easy to agree to his deal. Not that we had much of a choice.

I find myself on the beautiful island of Ethros where once a Walker, always a Walker, and all the freedoms of Dormas are ripped from my fingers.

It’s hard not to see the irony in it all. Once again I’m forced to accept my place in this Empire, but Cyler, Maverick, Patrick, Huxley, Jacob, & Kemper don’t let me go that easily. We find ways to be together, even when Cavil and his soldiers try to tear us apart.

If Maverick can’t find the cure, none of this will matter, and I want to enjoy whatever time we have. Consequences and prejudice be damned.

OH MY LORD!

I am in love with this series. Each book gets better and better and now I have to sit and wait for the next one - UGH!

Fight of the Walker has the gang all here - and yes, Ash somehow still gets kidnapped and looked down upon because of her status. Yet, in this book, she grew a backbone. She didn't want to take anyone's shit anymore. She stood up for herself when she needed to. Plus her connection with the guys, yes all of them, has definitely stepped up. They are getting closer and definitely becoming a stronger wolf pack that will please their wolf princess - in a way. I love that they are getting bolder in showing their affection for another and some of it was steamy AF.

Besides my favorite wolfpack, we still have Jules and Josiah to deal with. Yes, those two twats are still annoying in this book BUT I did end up liking Jules a little bit more in this book. I like that she has Tallis and he is someone who is there for her. She really needed someone on her side even though they didn't start their little romance in a good way. I like that she is becoming a little bit vulnerable with him and I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book. If she's even there - which I hope she will be.

Then there's Josiah, and man is that boy effed up. I don't really want to dive into his sadistic brain right now or why his character went down the dark and evil path so quickly. In this book, he claims his love for Ash and if you've read the first book of this series she had a huge crush on the guy. Luckily for her, and yes - us!, she has changed her ways and realized that she didn't really love love him.

There's another weird ass power hungry villain who treats walkers like slaves. Then there's a bunch of death in this book. I liked the twists and turns but I will admit that the ending was a bit predictable. I totally saw it coming and I still hate cliffhangers because now I really need the next book.

I actually went into this one expecting it to be worse than what it was, only because I wasn't a fan of the 2nd book in this series. This one was actually better than the previous book in this series.

I like that Ash and the guys finally confessed their feelings and their physical relationship was starting to progress. I will admit that them all being kidnapped was a little bit of a twist that you normally don't see in these kind of series.

I will admit that I was shocked that I found myself feeling sympathetic towards Jules because I will never like her, however, I don't want her to die, she is still just a dumb ass teenage girl.

The twist with Josiah shocked me because I did not see that coming at all, but I enjoyed it.

All in all, this was an enjoyable book in this series.

Woow this was such a great read, i loved all the feels in this book. It was like a rollercoaster, i love how Ash has grown and changed to be a stronger person and that she has the courage to stans up to herself and say what she wants and thinks!
I like all of her men also, and i can't wait until they are all safe in one place back at their dorms

Book 2 left off with Ash and Jules in a safe house and all 6 of the Dormas leaders in the custody of Lackey. Jules had put out a video asking someone..anyone...for help. The first person to show up with an army is Cavil, a ruthless leader from Ethos. Jules agrees that if he can rescue her brothers, they will travel to Ethos and work on a cure for the plague. The first clue that Cavil's deal is not as expected is when his soldiers put an electronic fetter on both Jules and Ash and throw them in a transport. Cavil does rescue the brothers and carts everyone off to Ethos, where Walkers like Ash are treated like disposable slaves, and forces Maverick to come up with a cure. They have basically traded one prison for another, but Cavil is even more sadistic than Lackey in many ways.

I've got mixed feelings about this installment in the series. On the one hand, the slow burn harem romance speeds up as Ash and the guys decide that waiting to express their feelings is silly considering they don't know if they will survive Cavil's imprisonment. Yay! But, on the other hand, the non-romantic plot takes a detour while they trade one prison for another and one evil emperor for another. They still don't have a cure, they still haven't made life better for the Walkers, and they still haven't returned home. I guess I should have expected something like this from the 3rd book in a 5 book series. We can't be too close to the end game yet.

Took forever

You know this one took forever, and I’m not sure it’s a good thing. Of course toward the end I get sucked back in after being bored.

I can’t believe some of the things that have gone down in this book. The person they thought would be a benefit to them wasn’t and I just can’t see how this goes. How is this going to get better, will Ash lose someone from her harem? Idk.

A lot of what happened was a lot of mundane and cruelty. I found it weird that Cavil decided to leave when he had prisoners, I figured he’d be the type to stick around and torment. I also thought it was weird how much freedoms the guys and Ash and ever Jules got.

But this book is still very confusing.

Also this author uses “coughing” too much to transition moments. Everyone’s coughing to get attention, or make someone acknowledge something, it’s sort of ridiculous bc it’s in all the books.

I’ll continue this series and I’m interested to see where it goes, but I’m also not in a rush either.

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this series to me. This was an incredible read. I loved this book. The story picked up right where Heart of the Walker left off and it did not disappoint. This book had action, and was fast-paced. The storyline was amazing and intense. Coralee grabbed me for the first page, and the writing was a huge part of that. I love the fact that in this book, all 6 men were trying different ways to be with Ash. For me, right now, I cannot really choose which guy is my favourite because I feel like they all have great qualities that separate them for each other. Therefore, I am just going to all 6 of them, and I can't wait to see what the next installment has in store. Overall, an amazing read.

Everyone!

This series is so good, I need to write a quick review on them before the next. I swear when I think there’s no more good books left in the world (so dramatic) coralee surprises me. I’m so greatful to have found such wonderful, interactive authors. This book/series is a must read!

This was the most emotional one yet. It’s so good! And it’s hard to put down. So much happens and yet so many more questions arise. Ash is certainly coming into her own and is on the cusp of finding out what she becomes as she maneuvers through a rapidly changing world. Another breath stealing, heart stopping, tear wrenching saga from Coralee June.

DNF - Finished 100% of book one and two - 51% of book three

***Review Shared for Series***

I loved the idea behind this series. It is a pretty unique reverse harem with a lot of tropes that I like. Two of the guys are kind of bullies in the beginning, a stalker like ex, alpha males that are super protective, a damaged fmc that has been through the wringer...

Unfortunately I didn't finish the series because it got really repetitive. The harem would get split up, their enemies seemed to have far too much control over them so they literally never win... I skipped to the end of book three because I was curious and it was literally the same as what happened before. On top of that, there are such obvious feelings being developed by the harem and the reasons for not acting on them seemed silly. The angst wasn't very angsty it was more annoying to be honest.

Oh my lanta CJ why did you have to put my heart through the ringer?! I’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster with this book and my heart is still recovering.

I thought I had all my disgust and anger towards Lackley and Josiah, but hot damn I LOATHE Cavil. Dammit he makes such a good villain, but I still want to attach a fetter to his wrist and watch him dance like a monkey in pain.

Nothing makes you throw caution to the wind and embrace your feelings for someone like living in the hell that is Cavil’s domain. It was so nice to finally see the slow burn paying off and Ash delving into her relationships with the Dormas men. The adoration and devotion they all have for one another is just so pure and all consuming. My heart was so happy when Cyler approached Ash and gave her perspective on what the guys were going through and how to navigate not only her first relationship ever but her relationships with six men. I about turned into goo when they had the conversation about “are we sure we can do this” and Ash was like “don’t you dare question my love” and got all in their faces about her feelings. Though you broke me CJ. Those final chapters of the book broke me. You better make this right. Please make it right.

The fire and fight in Ash has never been more blazing and glorious. She’s fighting for herself. She’s fighting for Jules. She’s fighting for her men. She’s fighting for Dormas. And she’s fighting for the walkers. She’s willing to endure anything and everything in order to protect those she loves. That scene in the Ivory Room was so heard to get through, but her last comment to Cavil showed just how strong she was. They’ve underestimated the fight that lives in this little walker, and she’s going to make damn sure they are aware of it.

Holy moly, this series is addicting!

How do I put into words how much I am in love with this series, without giving anything away?!?! Ughhh I will try my best 😂😊. So first off, this book leaves off with the group being in the clutches of Lackley while Jules, Ash, and Tallis try to get help to rescue Ash's men and Josiah (if he is still alive). Ash and the group goes from one evil man's clutches to another. And let's just say, the other hardships Ash has gone through are a cake walk to what her and her guys have to go up against in Ethros.

Without giving anything away, all I will say is Ash and the group comes to a decision with their relationship and Ash finally breaks down her walls and most of the guys in the group. Tension rises and finally there is so relief hahaha. I loved the little moments Ash got with each of the guys. Holy crap, I love Huxley so much! The scene with all of them in the room together...daaaaaaamn. I also really really love Kemper and Patrick. I love the others guys, but these 3 stood out for me in this book (Cyler, Mav, and Jacob shined in some of the earlier books so I pretty much am in love with all of them hahaha). We get to see more of Jules and see her cunningness and vulnerability come out a little, behind her rough and tough exterior. I love her and Tallis, hope to see more of that in the future 😍

I was close to tears at the end. Wont give it away but I kinda saw it coming but not to that extent. I am dying for Book 4, which comes out soon!! If you loved the other books in this series, you won't be disappointed. Pick these up or you will regret it.

Coralee has done it again! Fight of the Walker is an amazing read, picking up right where Heart of the Walker left off and leaving me desperate for the next installment in the series!

In this book, Ash and the guys are trapped on the Island providence of Ethros, held captive by the psychotic Commodore Cavil while he tries to find and monopolize the cure. Unfortunately on Ethros, Ash is forced to return to her past role as a Walker in a place that expresses great cruelty to those in service.

Although this was a difficult book for Ash, the guys, and even Jules, there was a lot of character growth. Ash really came into herself in this story. She takes charge of what she wants and isn't afraid to speak up for herself. The guys also experience some changes. Maverick isn't able to just sit by and watch things happen, but instead takes a stand. Cyler and Jules have a chance to bond in a way they never have before. And Ash learns how to balance her attention between six men, learning what they need from her and how she can be there for them in different ways.

This story also got a bit steamier which I really enjoyed! Ash and the guys begin to pick up the pace, now ready and finding ways to be intimate, even during trying times.

Fight of the Walker was a fantastic read with tons of action and an intense plot that drew me in and left me wanting more. I am so in love with Ash, her guys, and this world that Coralee has created! Revenge of the Walker cannot come soon enough!

Disappointed with this book compared to the first two. When she was taken to Ethos, I expected her to be more vulnerable, i.e. consider giving in, giving up, this is the life she belongs in/deserves, etc. Instead she was this strong liberated woman after how many months of freedom vs. a lifetime of slavery? I understand that as her character evolves she'll completely abandon her past fears and insecurities, but this was her first test being thrown back into her old role and there were no insecurities other than she didn't want the harem to consider her a "companion." Then, the harem sits there and watches while she's being tortured. Granted they felt the alternative was her death. But it was her reaction to their inaction that rankled. I think she should have been a bit reluctant to run to them immediately after she recovered. I would've had her cling to Mav (who wasn't a part of it and was outraged to learn about it) and be a bit flinchy around the others. They are in these DIRE situations and they sit around and declare their love verbally. Physical comfort in these situations, I get. Eloquent soliloquies? Not so much. It is all a little after-school-special.

Absolutely fantastic

I have loved this series from the very first book when the author sucked me in with her phenomenal world building and well rounded, fully developed characters. But this book takes the cake; it is something special. The emotion CoraLee June packs into this one book truly packs a punch. I found myself fully immersed in the story, feeling the pain, love, hope, heartache, and loss right along with the characters. Ash and her guys relationships continue to develop at a very natural pace particularly in light of all they’re facing. This book is a little darker, but again, I feel like to skate over it wouldn’t have done the story justice. It’s needed as Ash navigates her world in a time of war and chock full of blatant and often violent racism. I absolutely recommend this series and this book....it is probably one of my absolute favorites. Fully deserving of five stars (I’ve already read it twice!)

My poor little heart!

What can I say about Fight of the Walker - heartbreaking, torturous, uplifting. Book 3 in the Walker Series brings forth a new adventure and a new immediate problem, with the continual storyline staying true to the Walker theme. This time we get to see Ashleigh fight tooth and nail to survive with her men as she is forced into a harrowing situation. Surrounded by people more twisted than she'd ever witnessed before, Ashleigh and her men must fight to stay alive and get themselves back home.

I honestly don't know how Coralee June does it, but this story had me riveted from page one. I cannot wait to see what happens next in Revenge of the Walker, as I have a feeling that the relationship between Ashleigh and her men will only continue to grow and get closer as time goes on.

Amazing book!!!

I so loved Fight of the Walker!!! It was awesome. The feels were crazy in this book!!!! From being taken to Ethros, to fetters, to Walker Companions, to dates, to Kemper’s clothing style for Ash, to Jules’ breakdown and fight to her escape plans, to the beach, to parties, to declarations of love and kisses, to death scares and real death, to Josiah and his undying love for Ash and sacrifice, to the deadlands, and to the loss of Maverick, Cyler, Jacob, and Jules... it all had me hooked from the first page to the last page!!! It was perfect suspense and romance all wrapped together in a pretty, little book! I can’t wait for Revenge of the Walker and for everything that will happen next!!!

Such a great book! Coralee captured my attention as she spun a magical web of intrigue and romance. Ash continues her journey after being forced to leave her guys behind. From there, Jules agrees with the Ethros leader to rescue them. Although making the agreement is needed, this places Jules and Ash at the mercy of Ethros. Ash’s development through the book was really good as she had to navigate the internal conflict of being seen as the Walker she once was. But don’t worry because the Dormas leadership is there and her character gets stronger in her decisions with the guys as things heat up! Those that have read Soul of the Elite will appreciate Jules in this installment and you will be surprised by the end of the book as her story continues.

More than 5 stars

I've decided that the author is trying to make me a roller coaster of emotions. I thought the previous books were good, 5 stars, but this book is exceptional and beyond 5 stars. The complexity of the characters and the growth of Ash in this book - my heart is still beating and clenching from those last few chapters. I've cried, squirmed, gotten mad, and cried in public because of this book. The other books seem languid in comparison to this one. Moreover, the writing has changed, gotten better, and grown itself. I see more confidence in what the author writes, a strength that slowly came out and BAM! Hit us right in the face with this book. I already thought the author was part of the elite but this book solidifies it.

Out of the frying pan and into the Fire!!!!

This book shows the development of all the characters and their relationships, including Jules.

Ethos is an absolutely beautiful island but a prison none the less. Maverick is literally trying to save the world with unbelievable stresses added to his shoulders.

Cavil is a new character that shows his face and is not what anyone had hoped for...least of all the Dormas Leaders.

I loved how we get to know, in depth, more characters as well as the side characters. You can feel the pain from the Walkers stories and the sacrifices they had to make to stay alive and protect their loved ones.

I can’t wait for Revenge of the Walker atom see exactly what they have in store!!!!

This is just...wow! Fight of the Walker really sees Ashleigh grow and become a stronger person. The relationship between the Ash and the guys develops more in this book, in a way that doesn't feel rushed and its good to find out more about the past of these guys.
Fight of the Walker has it's highs and lows and is a really emotional book, making you feel for characters you didn't think you had an attachment to within the story.
This is the best book in the series so far and I imagine it is only going to get better. Author Coralee June has an amazing way with words and of writing that hooks you right from the beginning.

....hmmm I’m kind of losing faith in this series. I really don’t want too but sometimes it just doesn’t fit. I feel like this series is trading one set prison to another. We haven’t met the truly ‘liberated’ part of the series yet. Also, Ash has changed but hasn’t grown up. I’m starting to dislike the other characters in this series as well like Jules, I didn’t like her, tolerated her because she was a misunderstood character, but now I’m indecisive. I truly have no idea what to think especially with that ending!

Overall: 3.5/5

This one broke me! Shattered my heart and kept me up all night! Ash is so strong and I can’t help but love her. So much comes to light in this book and pieces come together that are heartbreaking. The guys are so loving and protective it absolutely killed me with the lengths they go through to keep Ash safe. Jo got me in this book, I ended the last book on the fence about his and with this book he just obliterated me! Gah! I was not prepared for this book! Ready for the next! Hopefully!

This review is for the series.
I really like the premise of this, especially because it's mirroring the pandemic of the world in an interesting way.
It has all the dystopian earmarks; class system, race for the vaccine, rebellious factions, power hungry dictators, unrequited lust and all consuming love. Whilst it was a very slow burn with the harem it was still spicy at times. Whilst it was mostly proportionate to the story line, the relationship development was too slow come book 3. The story was great and nice twists, I can see this playing out as a netflix series.

This book was slightly better than the previous one. It was a bit more eventful, and some of the characters finally found their spine. Still, a lot of stupid decisions were made, leading to predictably dire outcomes. And, of course, kidnapping again, which is becoming very repetitive for this series.

I didn't like the cliffhanger. The relationship between the main characters seems to be going back and forth, which is frustrating, and it wasn't that great to begin with. So, I think that I am done with this series.

Heat turned up very quickly !

I liked that The MC grew very confident in her relationship with her harem in this book, but I thought it went extremely quickly compared to the previous pace of the series. I do get that the situations brought out the impulsivity , but I wish it were a little more natural like the previous books. I did admire her growing confidence in herself and how asserts her needs and wants comfortably .

What more can go wrong for the main characters in this book? Well you won't have to wonder for long as there is plenty for everyone here. I really felt sorry for them on occasions and hope that by the end of the series they will have their HEA. Luckily the characters are strong and help each other through the toughest moments. I liked the relationship between the men and Ash. What I did not like was the seperation between them, especially for such a long period of time.
