The first three books in the Soul Mate series by Victoria Johns – Survivor, Deserved, and Alive – were books I found myself addicted to, stories I really enjoyed. As much fun as I had with the first three, I believe my most anticipated of the books was the fourth book. In the prior books, I fell in love with our male lead of Forbidden, and I could not wait to see how his story played out.

Like the three prior books, Forbidden was an addictive read. Once I started this one, I found it was extremely difficult to put down. I was sucked into the story, desperate to see how everything came together. I loved watching the way the relationship built between the two characters, I had so much fun with the brewing chemistry, and the drama of events kept me hooked throughout. There is no doubt in my mind that this was a great conclusion to the series, giving us a great end with a character I’d come to love.

Whilst it was a great end to the series, if I’m being completely honest this was my least favourite book in the series. In fact, the three prior books were strong four-star ratings whereas this one wasn’t quite a full four-star rating. As you can see, I was perfectly happy to round the rating up, but it didn’t quite blow my mind to the same degree as the prior books in the series.

I think what prevented me from loving this one as much as I enjoyed the prior books is that we’ve fallen into a bit of a pattern with this series. Things that played out towards the end of this one felt like a repeat of things that went down in the prior books. I know we were meant to draw parallels with one of the prior books in the series, but I couldn’t help but think certain seems appeared throughout all the books. I was just hoping for a bit more, for something slightly different – something I did not see coming instead of something I saw coming from the start.

Nevertheless, I did have fun with Forbidden. It was a great end to the Soul Mate series, and there is no doubt I will continue to read the books Victoria Johns releases.

A secret forbidden teacher student romance.
Jack is a tutor at the college ten years older and with the added cherry, her mothers best friend, you could say "its complicated".

"Carly was the most delicious mistake i'd ever made, and that I couldn't get her out of my head was proof of that"..

"And that's how my brother found us. Me on my back with chocolate donuts on my dick"

A little bit about the plot;
Jack felt his life was mundane, he went away from his small town to be a teacher at college and to hopefully find his purpose, what he found was his forever and a peace of home.

Carly now in college had known Jack most of her teen life, Jack and his brother Jake had grown up with Carly's mother Lacey who is also ten years younger than Carly's father and although she had once called Jack her Uncle what feelings she had now were nothing like family love but more lust and a strong attraction, although they fought their feelings it was futile and being on the same campus they had to be careful and also the added stress of when both family's who were all close discovered their relationship, shit would hit the fan.

There's fumbles in the storage closet and fun with food, forbidden is a hot and humorous read.

This is the fourth book in the series and I remember when Carly was first dumped on her fathers door step at the age of eleven which brought Lacey and Tommy closer together when he needed help, so seeing this development is heartwarming, finally seeing Carly finding love.

A brilliant story, my ideal kind of read that has a bit of everything I love.
Forbidden contains drama, sizzling hotness and chemistry, angst, humour, Jack really did make me laugh at times and then there's the heartwarming moments.
A perfect contemporary romance and a perfect addition to this series.

Victoria Johns has once again brought me into the world of two characters that I feel like I have been on a journey with and I was sad when I had to let them go onto their happily ever after.
Told in first person dual pov and leads to a hea.
