Ripped Pages is a the raw unedited and unabridged writing of Tim Storrs. Everything in this book was first thought one take writing honest writing without filters. Esoteric, philosophical insightful yet personal . This is a book that can not be classified. Included are poems, pulp fiction stores with social commentary, as well as a one act play. This book can be best described as a literary mixtape.
He reminded me of Charles Bukowski initially style wise, but as my wife says without the heavy cross of being ugly and old to bare. Which is still not a accurate comparison just the closet I could think of while writing this review. This book was a quick read and I couldn't put it down. When I first read it didn't read the prologue and was a bit offset by the spelling mistakes. However after I read the prologue where the author clearly explains the concept behind the book is to be a first thought completely unedited book,I felt ridicules afterwards. Honestly I'm still not sure if his mistakes were purposeful to look unedited or if he simply was honest about putting out a completely first thought book, after reading it many times, I will say the later. The author's style is clear and fluid even though his style of writing is very philosophical and poetic it really can not be classified style or content wise. I really enjoyed the "Quarter Bag of Conciseness". He found a way to incorporate profound quotes that could be applied to anyone in life, while still finding away to reveal and confess his own feelings and insecurities it is abstract yet very self reflective. The book plays like a musicians EP where he gives you snippets of thought and his versatility as a writer. As well as his dedication to breaking rules and being original which is very difficult in the literary world. His originality, honesty and organized confusion style of writing is why I rated this 5 stars this author you simply do not have time to get bored, it is a short book with a lot of subject matter to digest so you will find yourself rereading and rethinking what the author is trying to say, as well as form your own opinion. I recommend this book if you would like a breath of fresh air and something new. I suggest buying the paperback copy there are 7 or 8 more works then the digital copy that my wife purchased. Look forward to more work from this new author.
A very unique and short book. "When Pigs fly" is one of the short stories which I really enjoyed, very heartbreaking tragic and applicable to what is going on today in society with families I thought the title was a perfect choice, and a witty play on words. This writer was very good at speaking in voices of the characters in first person. I would love to read more stories from him even though I really enjoyed the poetry and quotes I wish there was more fiction. Great book.
