Will a spontaneous hook up in a bathroom with a bad boy change Jack’s life?
Jack is used to being the odd man out. In a family of retired and active military, Jack was always just a little too small and gentle. A little too gay. His life doesn’t improve when his one friend, his grandfather, passes and leaves Jack with his entire inheritance. Jack’s family is pissed, but their grandfather’s land and money doesn’t come without stipulations. He has to develop the land into a campground--obeying his grandfather’s final wishes--or lose it all to the state. It’s no surprise to Jack when the foreman he hired calls on day one with a problem. The problem? Wild bears.
Can two misfits find love?
Alpha shifter Gideon has been away from his brothers and bear pack for a long time. While his other brothers went on missions securing resources for the pack, Gideon had the unpleasant task of cleaning up their tracks and making sure the skeletons of their past remained hidden. As the youngest, most volatile of the bear brothers, he always gets the crap jobs. When he finally finishes and gets to go home, some idiot is trying to tear their forest down. Gideon heads into town to blow off some steam, and the sexy stranger at the end of the bar looks like he’s had almost as bad of a day as Gideon.
Is it the family you are born with or the family you choose that makes a difference?
A few stolen moments in a bathroom is all it takes for Gideon to realize, Jack is his mate. His bear wants him more than anything but, claiming Jack would be an unkindness. Especially when all the people who ever cared for Gideon in the past wound up hurt or hating him. He’ll protect Jack, but he won’t claim him. That is, until Jack’s ex-fiance appears claiming he still loves Jack. Gideon must decide to make Jack his or lose him forever.
Bearest of Them All is the fourth book in the Bear Brothers Mpreg Romance series and can be read as a standalone.
This is another excellent installment by Ms. Burrelli, one of the things that I think makes her books so good besides her great storytelling is the way she gets the balance between the hot sexy stuff and the sweet snuggly stuff absolutely perfect! I am definitely making my way through everything she has written as she has yet to disappoint even a tiny bit.
Ahhhh, THIS is the Kiki storytelling that I love, and this is my favorite story in the series so far!
I just LOVED Jack and Gideon - they had great chemistry and connection from the start, I loved their snark and banter and how Jack wanted to stand up to Gideon, not back down. I love how he found out about shifters (ahhhhh I just adore Chuey and can't wait for his story!) and how totally on board Jack was with getting knocked up, too!
There are some funny moments, some serious ones, some seriously sexy ones, and a great group of characters. One thing I have always said I love the most about Kiki's series' is that she has such a great sense of family and support with all of the characters, you can really feel that.
Love this series, can't wait for Garth and Chuey's story!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
More entertaining than the first three but still formulaic.
I’m still curious though. If nature made the shifter sperm as super lube and able to change men so they can get pregnant, why can they not give birth? In the first book it’s mentioned they used to use claws & teeth the get the baby out but that just sounds like there would be a high death rate. That makes no sense.
Jack has never fit in anywhere. His family consists of retired and active military, and maybe because he didn't have a long career in the military, he is seen as the black sheep of the family. The only time Jack can remember being happy is when he was with his grandfather. Now that his grandfather has passed, he is left grieving for the man that meant more to him than anything in the world. Jack's grandfather left him a significant inheritance and land that he cherished as a kid. His grandfather left specific instructions on what he wanted done with that land. If Jack does not comply, he will lose his grandfather's fortune and the land will be sold to the state.
Jack immediately starts taking steps in seeing his grandfather's vision for the woods come to fruition. However, his foreman informs him of a small problem he and his men encountered in the woods....bears. Jack doesn't believe the foreman and decides to go there himself to see what is going on because he can't afford any delays.
Gideon is the youngest of the bear brothers and he has finally returned home after completing his final mission given to him by his brother, and Alpha, Roscoe. Gideon thinks the pack looks down at him because he thinks they feel he hasn't contributed anything to the pack. His other brothers secured different resources that allows their pack to thrive. What has Gideon done? They do not know that he is the one brother who has done the most. He has kept them all safe from those that would do them harm. He hates what he has had to do for his pack, but someone had to do it.
Jack and Gideon first encounter each other at a bar and things get pretty hot and heavy quickly between the two of them. Gideon was in denial about what Jack really was to him and he rejects Jack for what Gideon thinks is Jack's own good. Gideon's past deeds make him feel dirty and unworthy. He sees Jack as nothing but goodness and doesn't want to muddy him with all his dirty deeds. However, there chemistry is undeniable and Gideon just can't let him go.
I was really looking forward to this story. The mysterious younger brother finally coming home. Gideon was a great character to read. I was hoping to see a little more interaction between the brothers but overall the story itself was just great. I loved the chemistry between Jack and Gideon. Jack was not afraid to stand up to Gideon and call him out when he was being an idiot. The antics and bantering between, not only them, but with his brothers had me laughing so hard I cried. There was just so much to love about this book. I just adore this series and the characters.
Tropes and Elements: - Shifters - Mpreg - Fated mates - Size difference - OTT drama - Tortured, “bad boy” MC
This was another good installment. I did end up skipping the third book because it just didn’t interest me, but I did really like the pairing of Gideon and Jack. Though Gideon’s characterization was a little dramatic and emo, but for Burrelli’s writing it sort of just works because it fits in with the tone and drama of the rest of the series. I wasn’t upset at all by it.
This was a blast and easy to read through though I did find myself skimming at certain parts, mostly the domesticity. This book was more realistic with not having instant sex after giving birth for the pair, lol. I guess I expected a tad more for the whole ending of this series but at the same time, the overall plot line here that carried through the series did wrap up nicely so now that the bear shifters are doing well and their community is built up and thriving. I liked the solutions brought up in the book for certain problems.
The villains and dramatic aspects in this book did make me laugh out loud. Believable? Not really but that’s not what I was reading it for! Things really pick up at the 80% mark which is typical of the final act, but at the same time a tad bit rushed.
Well I'm sad. Lol. I love Kiki's books. Adore them, to be honest. But I was hoping this book would be Chuey’s story. I'm so in love with that little guy. I knew reading the blurb it wasn't going to be, BUT I'm happy to see he played a bigger role and is working toward a happy ending of his own. And I'm so hoping it's with who I think it is. That will make my day. As it is, we got to see Gideon get his story. And after some of the crap the sweetheart has had to endure, I'm glad to see he got some happy. He's carried some burdens for way too long.
Jack has had all he can take. He's not a terribly brave man. He doesn't think so anyway. He's been beaten down since he was a baby. His parents and siblings hate him because he's different, his ex-fiance has apparently decided Jack has not now nor ever been good enough for him, and he's lost the one man who ever made him feel loved. His grandfather. Now everybody wants a piece of him because they want his grandfather's land and money. He doesn't think he could ever feel any lower. On top of all this, now he's having problems trying to realize his grandfather's dream on the land he now owns. Everybody's crazy saying there's bears everywhere when he knows there never has been. But he's in for a big surprise. Going to Noel, he decides to see what's up and figure out how to fix it. When a chance meeting in a pub leaves him with an experience he will never forget. Gideon. The chemistry is thick in the air and they can't get to the bathroom fast enough. Once the quickie is over, reality sets back in. And trouble comes with it. The problems with the land lead to Jack's finding out Gideon's secret and Gideon is fighting having found his mate. As time goes on, they have to figure out how to make things work. In all ways. And quickly before their little surprise comes to the world.
You ever meet some people and within the minute of meeting them you want to beat the crap out of them? At the least, throat punch them or something? Yeah. Me too. Meet Jack's family and ex-fiance. The douchebags. Jack is the sweetest, kindest man who just wants love. And in the one place he found it, died. Now his family is trying to take his best memories away too. Go figure for a bunch of greedy pigs. They can never be happy with just what they have. Smh. When he finally goes to Noel to fix all this, Gideon gives him an experience he can't get past. He feels so different with him. He finally feels alive. But it's so weird when they don't even know each other, right? Gideon knows immediately what it is but has no plans to do what he feels. He so guilt ridden and torn over his past, he feels he'd never be good enough for Jack. (Oh my gah that broke my heart so bad). But they need each other so bad. Gideon needs Jack's love and trust and Jack need Gideon's love and strength to be his own person. But it's just like life to try to tear it away. But they know they have to keep trying and keep holding on to make it work. I also love how much Jack took to Chuey. Yeah, he was scared at first, because Chuey literally let the cat out of the bag about them. But he found he loved the little guy and Chuey is starting to flourish.
I love this series. And I was so happy to see some old friends make an appearance. That was a nice surprise. I'm still ready to see more of Chuey though. Lol. He captured my heart as much as Farley, and y'all know how much I love him.
The fourth book in the Bear Brothers series, it deals with the youngest of the bear brothers, a tattooed, pierced, badass named Gideon and his sweet, gentle mate, Jack. I think this might be my favorite couple of the bunch, since the main characters are so different from each other, but at the same time so complementary. Gideon is the black sheep of the family, he has a bad temper and is not afraid to act like a jerk, in fact, he prefers it. He's not afraid to antagonize friends or enemies, as long as they challenge him and keep him entertained. He is also in charge of the dark side of the pack missions, he takes care of their pack enemies, as quietly as he can, and gets little thanks for it. Jack, on the other hand, has always struggled with his lack of confidence, born from the utter disdain his family treats him with. Being gentle natured in a military family did not serve Jack well, and he has spent his life trying and failing to live up to his parents' expectations. The only person to have ever loved and accepted him fully was his dead grandfather, and Jack is struggling with honoring his memory and fulfilling the requirements of his inheritance. And from his efforts to honor his grandfather comes the conflict of the story, because Jack is trying to build a camp that directly affects where the pack makes their homes. Gideon is torn between his desire to protect his family, and to protect his mate, and Jack is obviously gobsmacked by the craziness of their whole situation. One of my favorite chapters is when we meet Jack, I was really touched by how sweet and caring he is, trying to feed a one-legged pigeon, it made me think that he was like a Disney princess, which is why he struggles with standing up for himself. His meekness is in direct opposition to Gideon's brashness, but it also amps up Gideon's sense of protectiveness. Even if Gideon acts like a stubborn mule..eh..bear. he still has solid core of love and loyalty that makes him perfect for Jack, who has lived his life feeling like he can't count on anyone. The love scenes are out of this world. There is always so much crazy passion, it has me fanning my face and fangirling all over. As always, the bear brothers never fail to entertain and make me swoon, and I can't wait for the next story!
This is the 4th book in the series - Bear Brothers.
This story focuses on the youngest of the brothers - Gideon. He is the tatted bad boy, left to tidy up messes that no one else wants to deal with, an enforcer of sorts for the family. Gideon feels that he is not worthy of a mate or happiness because of his dark deeds, my heart ached a little for him.
Jack is quiet and thoughtful, seemingly the runt of a military family. Grieving over the death of his beloved Grandfather, he is the sole inheritor of land they shared during his youth, but it has deadline and stipulations to give it a new purpose - which initially puts him at loggerheads with the Bear brothers and their clan. Jack also has the misfortune of having the family from hell and a matching ex fiancé. My heart ached a little for him too.
The insta-love/mate/m-preg was all par for the course for Gideon and Jack. There was a little angst and miscommunication when Jack's family decided to pay a less then welcome visit - Garth made me smile, it was a shame he couldn't do more than cause a little havoc.
I was pleased that Chuey had a few lines, his description in the last book was quite vague and now being portrayed as a young man I am hopeful the set up comment with him and Ryder/and/or someone in the club pans out - is this the next book?
Overall, another entertaining slice of Bear Brothers, finishing on a HEA.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.
This is the fourth book in The Bear Brothers Series. A great book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Jack a human and Gideon a bear shifter are the MC’s of this book and mates. There was humor, woods, inheritance, family, a camp, blackmail, a doctor, a bed & breakfast, friends and more in this book. I read this book without reading the first three books and it was enjoyable. But I would've liked it better have read the previous books in the series.
Here is a quote from the book, “Did you know that my foreman actually tried telling me that they couldn’t continue working the other day because of an entire pack of bears?” He expected Gaia and Maggie to burst into laughter. Instead, the two of them gave each other a look that couldn’t have been meaningless. “What? Has Noel changed that much since I was last here with my grandfather?”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can recommend. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
I've been a fan of Kiki Burrelli's since the Wolf's Mate series. A few characters from that series make a cameos in this series as well as this book. I'm a huge fan of the feeling of family and unconditional love all of her books have and this one is no exception.
Gideon has been his brother's and packs enforcer and clean up crew for awhile. He's come to the conclusion that he's not worth more than that. When he meets Jack he goes into it as a one off. Fate has other ideas though.
Jack has just lost the only person in his family that loved him. His fiance ended their engagement and kicked him out of their place just before his grandfather's death. He's a bit of a mess but something about Noel and Gideon start to change him. Little does he or Gideon realize how true the adage "What a difference a day can make" will be for them.
FYI: I received this book as an ARC for my honest review. I also have KU so I don't see this making a difference one way or the other.
Bearlicious I received this book by the author for an honest opinion. This is the 4th book in the bear series and I've enjoyed every single book in the series and this one was no exception. Jack has always felt adrift from his family from uncaring parents and siblings he feels alone but for the closeness of his bond to his grandfather who sadly has passed away leaving Jack the sole heir to a parcel of land that is coincidentally right by the colony of bear shifters. Gideon who is returning back to the den meets Jack and knows they are destined mates. With a devious scheming family trying to claim the inheritance by any means possible and Jack trying to build on his relationship with Gideon it was full of angst, humour and of course love. I really enjoyed learning about the other illusive brother of Roscoe and the gang. A really great story and I can't wait for the next.
Gideon and Jack were cute together, but I felt that both of them sort of fell flat for me in this book. I felt that there were several points in this story where Gideon's unique skills (that were only ever really hinted at) would probably have been best showcased. Instead, he basically came off as a bit of an emotional and impulsive meat-head who has to let other people make plans.
This was such a cute and very entertaining read. The characters were engaging and full of personality. I was pulled into the story from beginning to end. I loved Gideon and Jack together, and I especially just loved it when Jack rode on Gideon's back while Gideon was in his bear form (adorable). The author did a wonderful job of creating such horrible parents for Jack. Ugh. Overall, this was an excellent story. =)
The last brother gets his story in the fourth book of this series. The story does not disappoint. Loved it. Jack and Gideon make a great couple. And if you are an avid reader like I am you may even catch a couple hints about Chuey and who his mate is going to be. Can't wait for that cutie's story.
Gideon thinking he doesn't deserve happiness till he meets Jack. With Jacks grandfather dying and leaving him acres of land with stipulations he finds that Gideon and his pack living in the area. Jacks parents want to take it all away. With the help of the pack Jack is able to honor his grandfather's last wishes and also find his mate in Gideon.
I am really enjoying this series, and this one did not disappoint. I really enjoyed Jack and Gideon's story. Man did poor Jack have hateful awful people in his life. Glad there will be more. Thanks for ARC.
This was a great story and I absolutely fell in love with the misunderstood Gideon! Jack needed someone strong in his corner and Gideon was just the bear to step up. Between the two of them and the rest of the pack they make one loving pack!
An enjoyable series with each story better than the last.
The only negative being it could have done with better proof reading to pick up on spelling, wrong names attributed to characters and a repeat sentence.
This one will definitely pull your emotions. Some things I felt for Jack and his guy but also for the pack. Jack's parents now, I thought of several painfully creative punishments for.
At first I wasn’t crazy about The main characters but as I continued to read I started to connect with them and I enjoyed their story. Some family drama, big sexy bears and finding love when least expecting it
Jack was left a part of the forest for a camp. He doesn't know about the bears living there. When problems start he goes to find out what's the problem. Enter Gideon!
Oh, Gideon. My heart hurt for him so often in this book. He was so broken and hurting and the only one to see him was Jack. The plot really captured my attention and was fun but Gideon stole my heart. And I loved seeing Luke, Finn and Felix for a brief cameo.
Well written story and well developed characters! This series is great! You need to read them in order because of people intertwining in each book. These bears are rough but loving!
well written story with everyday struggels and choices. in the end jack and gideon found common ground to join there lives together to form there own family and find happiness
