Deceiving a Raider

Rate this book
Detective Cole Banks is finally getting his life back on track, courtesy of the man always by his side. He’s determined to rekindle his relationship with his former Marine squad, The Black Raiders. But as his brothers come back into his life, so does a long list of questions they’ve spent years trying to find the answers to. It doesn’t take much to figure out those answers lie with the CIA.

For Detective Cade Lawson, things are running smoothly for once. Having Cole in his life has made him happier than ever before. Then a case leads them to believe someone has been searching for Cade. Someone who’s out for revenge. Cade thought the CIA had buried his past—a safe forty feet below the ground. But the past has a way of surfacing when you least expect it.

Cade is confronted with his past, the one he fought so hard to leave behind, but it might just be what saves him. It also might be the thing that tears them apart. Is their relationship strong enough to survive all the lies and deceit?

I'm still enjoying this series quite a lot. There were still times I had a hard time with who was who. However, it was another thrilling ride. We get a sneak peek at Cade's past and it is intriguing indeed. I wanna know more now! It was nice meeting Cole's team from the military, and we get a glimpse into his past as well. However, these little flashes just make me greedy for more. I eagerly await the next installment.

The long-awaited sequel to A Detached Raider, and it is all I hoped for. Once again, the author pulled me into a story that had me hooked from the start. It is an action-packed, thrilling book that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Full of surprising twists.
The story continues the life and love of Cade and Cole. Their love is put to the test when demons from the past come haunting Cade. Not all is what it seems, including the persons you wouldn’t dream of being able to deceive others.
It might be contradictory that a suspense novel can be fun and heartwarming, but it really is. The banter is witty and humorous. Not only between Cade and Cole, but also with the other characters. No matter the situation they all have some quirky comment that had me grinning a lot. The Black Raiders are a family you won’t see every day, but they stand by each other through everything.
It is also sexy as heck. The sparks between Cade and Cole are flying. They are so hot together. Their chemistry and connection are palpable, and the dire situations they are in only cement their love for each other. It is so sweet seeing those roughened cops acting so loving and caring, and so in love.
Amid all the bullets flying, there are those heartbreaking moments when they have to make difficult decisions, even if they are not always the right ones. Although a little of the mystery veil has been lifted, the solution is nowhere in sight yet. To be continued.
The secondary cast is a true enhancement of the story. Grace is one feisty woman, and among my favorites are Franklin and Adam. I hope they get their own story.
This book can’t be read as a stand-alone. There is a continuing story arc, so you have to read the books in order.

Cade Lawson and Cole Banks aren’t exactly in the closet at work, but they are becoming more than working partners for the police department and try hard to keep their relationship on the down-low so they won’t have to deal with new partners.

Cole’s Black Raider squad, family, and friends have come to town to visit. As Cade gets to see Cole in this new setting, especially with the children, he finds himself falling harder for Cole, and it’s more than noticed by friends and family how they both feel about each other. And so Cade, in a roundabout way, takes an important step in their relationship—but all the good feelings come crashing down around Cade when he finds that someone from his past has been stalking him.

Cade’s sister Grace knows about Cade’s past and his history working for the CIA. To keep his family, friends and the person he loves safe, Cade has no choice but to let himself be taken by the enemy. And for Cole, there is no choice but to go after the man who has stolen his heart, with the support of the Black Raiders.

In this action packed, exciting and tension filled sequel we get up close and personal with this quirky Black Raider team—Dom, Tank, Davin, Franklin and Axel (aka Mad Dog)—as they come together for a rescue mission. The returning characters—Grace, Cade’s sister, who gets into the action, and Lara along with her daughter, Morgan—add a strong female representation element to the storyline. The camaraderie with Cole and the acceptance of others delivers a lot of heartfelt and humorous moments. Cole and Cade have a chemistry that leaps off the page, and there is no gray area when it comes to the matters of the heart, especially with Cole. He lays his heart on the line, and the emotions make it difficult for Cade to even think he could live without him.

I highly suggest reading book one, A Detached Raider, first. There are secrets galore, and some of them are revealed in this sequel. What really got me going on the Black Raiders series is that you never know who is working for what agency and when they’ll pop up. I’m hoping that Ana Night has another installment in the works, because there seems to be even more secrets to reveal in this intriguing series.

This second book in the series is spectacular. Cole and Cade are back and their relationship is growing stronger and both are very happy. Until Cade's past catches up with him and puts them right in the middle of another mystery. There are lots of twists in this action-packed story and I can't wait for the next one to see how this all unfolds.

Love the Black Raiders

Cade’s past comes back with a vengeance while Cole is reuniting with his brothers and the action does not stop. We find out a little more of what makes Cade Cade and how being with his brothers helps Cole. I absolutely adore this series and can not wait for the next one.

Though I recommend reading the first one cause it was a really great book, you won’t be too confused if you read this one first. But really, read the first one cause it’s amazing.

Deceiving a Raider
By Ana Night
Main Characters: Cole & Cade
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
Detective Cole Banks and Detective Cade Lawson are back in this 2nd book which is every bit as good as the 1st one. Cole was a former Marine with The Black Raiders and Cade with the CIA. I love that this is an m/m romantic suspense with plenty of action, sex and a good story. So many of the books I have read were just sex and while that is good, an actual story makes it great. The author has a warning posted about the book as follows: "Possible triggers: violence, death, torture." This book also is a HFN ending and I'm sure the author will make it a HEA ending for all involved at the end of the series. One of the things I really liked in the beginning of the book was the list of the characters; it really helped to keep them straight in my mind throughout the novel. I wish a lot of other authors would do this. Another thing I like is the easy names of the characters. That is just a pet peeve of mine when they have names I can't pronounce in the book. I HATE that because I find myself trying to think of something simple I can call the characters.
Again the banter is so witty amongst all the guys & girls you just have to laugh at them. Cole's family is his Black Raiders former Marines and now FBI agents and Cade has his own secretive family. Cade has to make some tough decisions in this book and so there is also some angst with it. Anyway, enough said. This is just a fantastic series so far. I recommend you read them all.

This is the second book in the series, and it builds a lot on the events in book one. For that reason, along with the fact that book one is greatness, I recommend reading them in order. Cade and Cole are still so perfect together, funny and sexy and brave. We learned more about Cole's past in book one, and we met his brothers-in-arms, the Black Raiders. Those amazing men are featured much more in this installment, and I love them all.
This book delves into secrets from Cade's past. For such a fun-loving guy, Cade has some true darkness in his past - and someone from his past is now after him. It will take both men, Cade's sister Grace, and the Raiders to even have a chance to get Cade through this.
Cade and Cole are such a wonderful couple, and I am already looking forward to book three for more of their story. I can also easily imagine reading stories for the various Raiders, and I hope the author is planning on providing those! I love her storytelling skills, and I think this series is absolutely stellar.

Action packed story that brings the incredible cast from book one back together to catch the bad guy! The writing flowed so beautifully, creating scenes with meaning and depth that were still in context of this very fast paced story.
Cole and Cade are really awesome together! These two hot men are so connected and love expressing that very intimate connection. You will enjoy their interactions both verbal and physical.

I feel that this is not a stand-alone, you will want to read book one to be able to appreciate book two with all of the intricate relationships that are binding this entire group together. The characters are so nicely drawn and complex that and interwoven that you will find insight into an event where you least expect it. This book will keep you reading way past your bedtime and loving every word.

Hot men, tons of action and the love of a lifetime! A must read!

This book is the second in the series and the end leaves us with the possible premise for the third book. This on started a little slower for me than the first book. The murder in the beginning was hard to tie with the rest of the book, it was almost like an afterthought because all the action of the book was on other things so it was kind of forgotten and when it was brought up again closer to the end it was hard to even remember what it was about.

The family of friends that accumulates by the end of the book is enormous and very close knit. We get a little glimpse as to who the real Cade is and where he comes from. It is definitely a shocker. The way that Cade and Cole are together is so sweet that it makes the book so good!

It was a wonderful read with lots of action, humor, a little bit of pain and suffering and lots of hotness and love! Highly recommend it, you will enjoy it!

This is a great serious

I enjoy this serious, I mean the love Cade and Cole have for each other is beautiful, BUT WAIT: they know nothing about each other. Well Cade has learnt a lot about Cole throughout the first two books. But Cade has all these big secrets, oh but we love each other trust each other how Cole knows nothing about Cade only getting snippets in this one. Then Cole goes off put his life on the line and his friends for someone who has so many secrets and not good ones (the life style). I mean Cade is a police officer/cia but his family steals for a living and thats fine. Also Cole just goes along with everything and never asks questions, I will die for someone I know nothing about.
So if you can get past all that, it is a really good serious. Side characters brilliant, I love Franklin I want him to have a story.

This book was as good as the previous one. Ana Night was one of the highlights of 2017 when I discovered her.

I wouldn't recommend reading this as a standalones, you would be missing out a lot in the story, especially Cade and Cole's relationship. They are hot, strong-willed men determine to do their job while supporting each other whenever it's necessary. And with lies and secrets coming their way once again, action-packed situations arise where they have to make some difficult decisions.

It's a real page-turner, enhancing the mystery and adding a wide range of characters, it makes it a very enjoyable read. Their journey is obviously not ending anytime soon and I hope it expands some more where we get other characters' books as well.

Cade and Cole and a shifting cast of not always easy to distinguish supporting characters continue their adventures about something or other.

Cade and Cole are cute, and Cade’s adorable really but their relationship feels stagnant. There’s no real build or tension.

The storytelling remains a problem. The book seems to take forever to really get anywhere and the author is still struggling with ending chapters.

I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t love it. Add in an inconclusive ending and there you have it adequate but not sparkling storytelling. Meh.

I liked the book, but once again very muddled and confusing storyline until about halfway through when it almost felt like someone else was writing the book or the author FINALLY had a clear vision for the story, characters, and dialogue. Whatever happened, sincerely hope the author can keep it up because it took the book from being a slog to read to actually enjoyable and a page turner. Only complaint I would still have is the naming of the two main characters so similarly - seriously??

These books just keep getting better! Wonderful read full of action both in the bedroom an out. We meet Cole's family in this book and you can't help but love these characters. We also get Cade's story (so not what I was expecting). Love all these characters but be warned, there is many of them and you need to keep your head straight while reading.

A zillion times better than book one, mostly because it followed one main thread (for the most part). Good enough that I’ll read book 3. I will just say that it’s a good thing Book 1 was a Bookbub special or I would have been pissed. Book 2 has made me want to keep reading about these guys.

I’m really enjoying this series, albeit I still get confused with all the characters. The suspense aspect of the story didn’t get going until halfway through the book, the first half was more bout Cole’s Black Raider Family, but once the action started I couldn’t put the book down!
