I finished it but at what cost?

A fantasy reverse harem.

My first thoughts as I started to read this book was wow! I loved the concept and originality. I didn’t realise that it would be a reverse harem story until well into it. Having said that I think that it’s very well handled. North is a very strong character. She has been raised in isolation by a man she thought was her father but who, she discovered, had kidnapped her at birth. It was done purely to protect her but, ultimately, left her ill prepared to find out the truth. Her birth parents find her when her ‘father’ has a heart attack and North I’d recognised on taking him to the hospital.
From then on it is non stop action and she finds herself trying desperately to work out what is going on. She also gets assigned to her six bodyguards, one from each realm, and she finds herself drawn to each of them, each in a different way.
Each of them has a power to teach her and, although she is convinced that she has no power, she soon shows a strength that is awe inspiring.
To follow the story to it’s conclusion book 2 has to be read.
My only criticism is with the poor proofreading, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars not 4.

North Campbell is a Tue blood only she didn't grow up knowing that. She grew up all alone with her dad sam thinking the world had kind of ended and it wasn't safe to travel. When her dad has a heart attack she rushes him to the hospital to only lose him . Then she finds out the crazy truth!
Her dad wasn't her dad, her real parents may have nefarious plans for her. And now she has 6 bodyguards courtesy of Caius and the council plus she is traveling to other Realms to learn her powers and pick a mate. Yes thing are a bit overwhelming for this girl.
Love the action and storyline it's full of twist and turns plus has lots of mystery, spice, betrayal, drama, intrigue, suspense and more.
It is a reverse harem so the girl does end up with more then one guy in case you was wondering
I can't wait for the next book to come out

Disappointing, cliffhanger that needs Book 2

The book started out promising with an interesting plot. That quickly fell away with confusion and the girl North wanting to marry six men. So going from a solid sci fi book to a group sex story was a real disappointment.
To find out what happens I need book Two. Imam not sure if it is worth it. I feel the author may have taken a workshop on how to hoook your readers, and outlandish sex was the key. How sad when a great plot was in the making.
Don’t waste your time. Try Anne McCaffrey or the Vampire L’estat by Rice.

One which may become her husband. She is about to be taken on a journey to.learn how to use hernpowers. Which one is she to marry? Will her parents interfere? See how they all get on

I had read this book when it was first released as separate stories. I loved it then and my opinion hasn't changed. The additional POVs adds another level of understanding to the story. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next for North and her men.

I have mix feelings about this one. I’ll give 2,5 stars.
I really liked the beginning and felt it had great potential but midway through I started to loose interest. I really wanted to like this book but I wasn’t into it. However, since it ended with a cliffhanger I’ll probably read the second book to find out how it ends

The first book in the True North series a well-written book that I enjoyed reading looking forward to reading the second part. Six bodyguards, one woman learning of her past and what she is, suspense, drama, different realms all made for a great story. I received a copy of this book and I am leaving an honest and voluntary review.

I'm giving it 5 stars but I really think it's more like 4.5.
I'd have loved a little bit more depth but the story is intriguing, the characters are all unique, would have loved to get to know each of the guys a bit more though and it's overall a nice read.
I'm giving this rating because of the overall feeling I got listening to the book. I wish the 2nd book was available on audio.

North Campbell rushes her father to the hospital after he collapses, and her life is turned up side down. A couple will show up at the hospital claiming that she is the daughter that the man who raised her kidnapped when she was a baby. She quickly realizes that the couple claiming to be her parents might not be good people, so she makes plans to run. When her chance comes to escape, she is aided by six gorgeous, sexy men. The men take her to a secure location where she is told that she is a rare type of person known as a True Blood, and that there are more worlds and races than she ever imagined. She will begin her new life with a trip to the home world of Kriss and Marek, two of her bodyguards. She will realize tgat her feelings for her six men are deepening, and that she can't imagine her life without all of them with her, always.
Fascinating, unique characters in a world where magic, magical creatures and different planes of existence are real. This book has exciting action, a sexy menage romance and some surprising twists in the plot. Fantastic book, I loved it!
