For this anthology I read Annabella, a modern day Cinderella story, by C.J. Welles… and let me tell ya, I am a complete sucker for Cinderella stories because I had a mad crush on ALL the Prince Charmings when I was little...and still do.

description

Annabella was an insta-love whirlwind romance between her and a boy she meets while trapped in a dark closet at a costume party on Halloween. The attraction was instant between Anna and Elijah, but suddenly she’s whisked away and disappears into the night just like Cinderella, with only a school tag left behind, which then leaves Elijah on a mad-hunt for the girl that stole his heart and took off into the night.

I won’t go into any more detail, but I enjoyed C.J. Welles spin on this modern retelling of a classic fairytale. Replace the evil stepmother for a prickish stepdad and the ugly stepsisters for a self-absorbed stepbrother, throw in some good friends with some good times and a sweet romance, but then leaves off on a mad cliffhanger (*silently curses the author* - no really, I’m kidding!)... Annabella was definitely entertaining and held true to the classic with a modern day twist. I’ll definitely be looking forward to part two of this duet!

The Dirty Dozen: Princess Edition is an anthology containing novellas from various contemporary romance authors with a common ‘royalty’ theme.
This review will be for Poisoned Love by Ally Barnes and Debbie Ann, a retelling of Snow White set in the modern world.
I enjoyed this short story a lot. We had all the Snow White elements complete with Prince Charming (in disguise) and wicked witch and sleep potion.
I have to admit, that when I got to the end, my first reaction was “you can’t end it there!” Luckily a continuation looks to be in the works and I for one will be counting down to it.

I’ve read Crown of Thieves by T.J. Spade and was hooked from the start.
Fantastic storyline that grips you and brings you in for a magical ride.
Yasmin. Her Crown has been stolen and she needs it back. In comes Quinn. Thief. Business man. Hot as hell.
Calling on the only person she knows who can get the Crown back Yasmin invites Quinn to chat.
The attraction is instant.
Can they team up and get the Crown back?
In usual T.J style there is a little twist to the ending.
Loved Crown of Thieves.
I recommend this to all

THE DIRTY DOZEN PRINCESS EDITION

“BE THE WOMAN WHO FIXES ANOTHER WOMAN’S CROWN, WITHOUT TELLING THE WORLD IT WAS CROOKED.”

AROHA AND TAWHIRIMATEA by Aleisha Maree - 3.5 ❄️
This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I was very impressed with the story and characters. I really enjoyed the twist on Queen Elsa from Frozen’s story. I can only give 3.5⭐️ to this book as I had a hard time trying to remember who was who in the story. The names were a little hard to pronounce as well as remember. But having said that I really enjoyed the story and world that was built in this story.

WICKED KISSES, BITTER WISHES by Alicia Peek - 2 🐸
This is the first time I have read anything by this author. Sorry I was not able to finish this book, I got to chapter 5 but was not able to go any further, I felt that the beginning dragged on a little too long and wasn’t able to get hooked.

POISONED LOVE by Ally Barnes-Debbie Ann - 5 🍎
OMG! Ladies you have done it again, another wonderfully written story. I love the modern day twist on Prince Charming and Snow White’s fairytale, this is actually one of my favourite childhood Princess stories that I loved and you ladies did a wonderful job of bring it to life for this grown woman. I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful characters, storyline and world you have written in this story.
Tristan and Neve have a long history together and it wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns, in fact it was heartbreak and lies. Will Tristan Prince be able to win back Neve Snow, or will the history stop them from having their Fairytale story. I can not wait to see what more you have in store for us.

BELLE AND THE CURSE OF THE ROSE by C. Renee - 4.5🌹
Oh my gosh, wow, holy Moly, this are just a few words that I can use to describe this story. C. Renee is a new author to me and I am hooked with her words. Beauty and The Beast is my FAVOURITE princess fairytale, and C. Renee’s twist was absolutely fantastically done. I really enjoyed reading about the roles of the curse being flipped around. I loved the characters, storyline and world in this story. I can’t wait to see how it gets concluded as it most definitely needs a longer book and possibly sequel’s as Lumiere and Henry need a book.

ANNABELLA by C.J. Welles - 4👠
This is the first time I have read anything from C.J.Welles and I was not disappointed, I really enjoyed reading her spin on Cinderella’s story. I think the characters Elijah, Annabella, Gab, Tanya, Sophia and Jake were fantastic and very enjoyable. The twist of having a a-hole step-father and step-brother was a great idea. I know that this was to be a short story but I really, REALLY need to know what is going to happen to Elijah and Bella. I can’t wait for June to come round so I can be the rest of the story. Well done C.J please look forward to me following (*cough stalking) you.

STRICTLY BUSINESS by Gemma Arlington - 3 💎
Love your work Gemma, but Sorry I did not finish, I am not a fan of a triangle relationship, this is the reason behind not finishing the story. The writing is great and the back story is good but unfortunately my taste is what has not allowed me to finish.

ROYAL FAILURE by Heather Guimond - 4 💋
New to me author. I am so glad I decided to read this book as I am so fortunate to have had the chance to read a story by this author. Heather, I have never really been a fan of Sleeping Beauty’s tale, but your little twist and spin on it has made it one that I enjoyed reading. Having the “princess” be a kick ass rock star that doesn’t care about what her parents want for her was fabulous. I will definitely be looking into your other books, as I really enjoyed your characters and world building story.

BEAR ILLUSION by Kay Maree - 4🐻
New to me author. I really enjoyed reading this version of the Disney Princess film Brave. Well done Kay Maree for bringing us this steamy, sexy, Bear shifter story. I really and truly loved the character, storyline and world that was created in this story. I do hope you are looking into making a bear shifter series if you haven’t already, as I think you will do a fantastic job, especially with hoe well you did with this story.

LUNA BLUE by Kay Maree, Aleisha Maree and Susan Horsnell - 4🧜‍♀️ 🧜‍♂️
This is the first time I have read anything by these authors. I really enjoyed the story in a story concept with the change to The Little Mermaid Story. Well done ladies, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Princess Luna Blue and Prince Asher have an connection that they were not aware of until they finally meet. Asher is sick and tired of being told what to do and how to ack by his parents, he just wants to live the life he wants and marry his true love not someone his parents want him to marry. Luna wants to go to the surface and see what life is like on the land. On her first visit to the surface she sees Asher get in trouble in the water and must save him. But her pull to him doesn’t end there and she must see him again. Luna must What for the wizard Oztrail to return before she can get legs to be on the surface with her love, it when something happens to Asher her plan to get to the surface is imminent. With the help of her father and the wizard, Luna gets legs to go to the surface to save Asher and bring him home to the underwater castle as a Merman.

THE GIRL IN THE TOWER by Penny Blush 4🏰
Penny Blush is a new to me author, and I will be looking forward to reading some of her other books. We all know the tale of Rapunzel but you we will now have a new way of loving her story with Penny’s version of it. This book was steamy, full of excitement and easy to read. Rae is The Girl in The Tower, she has been told that she is allergic to the world, that everything and I mean everything could kill her according to Rowena her adoptive mother. Rae is locked away in the tower from all human and outside connections so when the delivery boy Flick writes a note and it’s your first interaction you respond. Flick and Rae are in love but have never meet or spoken to each other, the only form of interaction is letters that are written and delivered in the grocery lift. Flick is determined to meet and help Rae escape from the tower, so when he starts an investigation on who Rae and Rowena are he never expected to find out that Rae was the Kingdoms abducted Princess.

POCAHONTAS AND THE RELUCTANT BRAVE by Susan Horsnell 4.5🏹
Susan is a new author to me and I look forward to reading some of her other books. I never really was a fan of Pocahontas’ story growing up as a little girl, but Susan’s take of the tale had me addictive from the begin all the way to the end. Atalia ‘Pocahontas’ Stillwater is the Princess of the Indian tribe Howlani. Justus Whitecloud was rejected by the Howlani tribe when he was younger. When a divorce and custody case between tribe member Clyde Running Eagle and his wife Sharon brings Atalia and Justus as competing lawyers, an instant connection between them is felt. When the case has Atalia and Justus visiting the Reservation for some documentations a few of the Brave tribesman attack Justus, having the truth of his and his Ma not being apart of the tribe will all be revealed. I look forward to reading the rest of Atalia and Justus’ story when it is released in May.

CROWN OF THIEVES by T.J. Spade 4.5🧞‍♀️
Wow, this was wish worthy 😉. We all know and love the Disney tale of Aladdin. But T.J Spade’s has put her own flare and twist on the tale and it is addictive. It’s is steamy, hot, action packed and a great read. Just wish it was longer... Yamine is Djinn Princess who has had her crown with her Opal stone that contains her powers stolen, but to get it back she must hire Aiden Quinn who has stolen from her in the past. But she never expected to start to have feelings and attraction to the known thief. Aidan Quinn is a *cough reformed thief on the straight and narrow path 😂, but when he is asked to come to Yasmine’s place he is a little reluctant and worrried that the video evidence she has may finally be given the the police. Quinn never expected to be hired to steal back Yasmine’s crown.

I am reviewing three of the stories or it will be too long but this anthology is sensational and I totally recommend you buy it.

Pocahontas and the Reluctant Brave Susan Horsnell

Atalia ‘Pocahontas’ Sweetwater is a twenty-eight year old lawyer committed to helping her people with no interest in marriage or children at the present. Enter one Justus ‘Whitecloud’ Rivers who stirs the pot in more than one way!

This story combines the traditional Indian way of life with modern life and does it well. The clear visuals you are able to see through the exceptional descriptions makes it a joy to read. Add in great characters who are very realistic with everyday problems and issues as well as some not so common ones, mainly to do with the Howlani tribal laws and some past actions, and you have a winning combination for success.

The compelling component, love and romance, is also heavily represented and the passion between the lead characters is intense but beautifully written. Family love is another aspect that shines through too, whether it’s the traditional family relationship with a mother and father or a single parent family.

This story is delightful to read and I certainly look forward to reading it as a full novel.

A Winter’s Kiss by Aleisha Maree
This Maori tale is one filled with such beauty and wisdom. I particularly enjoyed the descriptions, especially of the weather formations. The overall message is so relevant to everyone, everywhere today. Really this is an amazing telling of this Princess story showing there are no boundaries, well done to this author.

The Girl In The Tower Penny Blush
Rae is locked up in a tower in the middle of a forest by her evil ‘adopted mother’ Rowena Bellasean. According to Rowena Rae has severe allergies and can’t live a normal life due to it being life threatening p. Rae befriends Flick, the delivery guy, when they start conversing through the use of notes. This was a great story with some fun touches, especially Flick’s friends who helped him. That ‘gang’ was a brilliant idea. Some humorous expressions and great descriptions made this fast paced story really easy to read. Rae‘s also one very resourceful young woman!😉

If your looking for a new take on some old stories, these will definitely do them justice... once you get passed the whole
“ this is Rapunzel !?”

I thought they were brilliant

I loved these re-modelling of fairy tales. Each story chose a princess and developed a story around her. There were a couple of 'to-be-continued' stories, which I'm really looking forward to reading when they are released later this year.
A great compilation of princesses.

This is a great anthology and I'm really looking forward to reading all of it.

I'm basing my review on the few books I've read and loved so far. A diverse group of princesses, something for everyone. We all love a fairy tale so I hope you'll enjoy the adult versions as much as I did.

I don't have small kids so I don't know the story 'Frozen'. This was a fun read set in New Zealand.

Pocahontas: I loved the journey we had in learning about the culture of Native Americans. Can lawyer Atalia help Justus find his way back into the fold. Will his hatred of his people hold him back? What is the truth? This is a sweet love story.

I can't wait for the discovery of some new to me authors in here.
