Is there such a thing as forgiveness…redemption…or even a second chance at love?
Life is about choices, and Emily Golden has made a lot of bad ones over the years, especially in love. A desire for change and a dream of a different life leads Emily to look deep inside of herself… it isn’t pretty. Someone is watching. The fear of commitment has left a trail in Emily’s life, a trail of tears and a trail of anger, resentment, and a little rage. Past transgressions are capable of destroying all hope of a future, especially when you don’t know who to trust.
I love discovering new Indie authors and don't mind occasionally picking up a debut novel. Everyone starts somewhere, right? Sidney Parker's beautiful cover drew me in and the blurb intrigued me.
Emily was a likeable main character and easy to read about. I was eager to discover more about her past and learn more about who she was.
My favorite thing about Shattered Pearls was the suspenseful and mysterious storyline, making this more of a Romantic Suspense novel. The story had a great build-up, making me eager for the conclusion, however, I hoped for a longer climax. The excitement felt a little rushed and could have used a bit more detail to bring the story together. On the whole, this was a decent read and I'm happy I gave it a chance. I hope Sidney Parker will continue to hone her craft and publish more books in the future.
I received this book as a gift from a friend, so, I figured I'd give it a go. I really did like this book. The characters were extremely likeable and I honestly felt like they were MY friends.
I did feel that at times things were just dragging along and I wanted to tell them to get in with it, but it obviously didn't bother me enough that I quit reading!
This book wasn't what I expected it to be, but it was still a good read. It is about two people named Emily and Elliot. They were together 7 years ago and never got over each other. Emily went through a rough patch of dating losers and Elliot never really dated. While in La Jolla on a girl's weekend, Emily sees Elliot running on the beach and couldn't believe her eyes. Elliot saw Emily as well but didn't have the nerve to say anything to her. Emily has found out that she has a stalker, who has been leaving little treasures at her house. Emily ends up going back to La Jolla for a writing conference with her friend, Andrea. Emily is sitting on the beach when Elliot approaches her and they begin talking. The rest is history. As for the stalker, the man thought Emily was his ex and was sent to jail.

Sidney Parker is a new author to me. Yet she made a mark in my heart with this book.
Emily embodies most of women today. Someone who always wanted to be loved but sometimes had certain insecurities and doubts about herself. But that doesn't mean she can never have what she wanted. It only takes courage, trust, acceptance and moving forward to be in a place where she always wanted to be. And to feel the love she greatly dreamed of with the man whom her heart is beating for.
Also this book gives us awareness that while others live an ideal fairytale-like life with their loved ones, there are those who suffer from abusive ones. Where women are being held captive because of theie love to a certain person. And that there are women who needs help-emotionally and physically.
That this book would have a bit of a thrill point?!?! I personally did not. It was a happy surprise. I have to say I was nervous throughout parts where I wasn't sure how it would all play out but that ending was very good. Way to hook me for the next one Parker **wink wink**
Shattered Pearls was a great debut novel for Sidney Parker! Mostly romance, but with a suspenseful storyline, it shaped up to be a very intriguing read!
